Golden Spot is literally a hole in the wall. I’m sure 90% of the people who drive by this location don’t even know there are restaurants here. The place is literally run by a mom and pop. It was deserted when we showed up, though people did come by here and there to pick up take-out. Parking is ample. And by that I mean that the entire place is 100% deserted on a Saturday. You can almost see the tumbleweed. Mind you, I would imagine that this restaurant caters to the working crowd during lunchtime on weekdays. There is outdoor seating here. And by this i really mean a fold-up table with 2 seats outside. This is the place to be if you want to impress a hot date. What WAS surprising was that the Vancouver Sun has actually reviewed this place! The article is proudly taped to the window. There is an afternoon snack menu for 1400 – 1800. Hot and Sour soup — this tasted. different. I think they totally went easy on the MSG, and used a different type of spice for the«hot» bit. Not necessarily a bad thing, but this is definitely unique. Deep-fried chicken wings — $ 5.57 for 7 wings. They were a bit dry, but very crispy, and definitely one of the largest wings I have had anywhere. This is worth a special mention. Sauteed beef with chow mein — noodles were crispy. As with the soup, they also cut back on the MSG Service was unusual. When I asked the mom for recommendations, she told me to look at the Specials board. When I told her I wasn’t a fan of the items listed, she told me to look at the menu. Yup, more authentic service. Yes, this place is horribly ghetto and beaten up, but it does have character. Give this place a chance.

This was kinda like finding one of those hidden gems. The place is quiet, I figure it’s only busy during lunch hour and the rest of the day is take out or delviery. Open from 10 am to 10 pm. Seems like a couple run the place. Chinese food is served from Wuntun to rice dishes to snack items like chicken wings and stuff. It’s not fancy, it’s kinda like thos 70’s/80’s Chinese diner style places that also serve burgers and fries. The Curry beef brisket is wonderful. It was a surprise. It was tasty and a bit spicy. Comes with rice.(duh). Again, don’t mean to complain here, but too bad they don’t serve brown rice. For those that like plain white rice, I think they have alot of good options for lunch and dinner. Located on a tiny strip mall between a western style restaurant, a little shop and the Scotia bank. Corner of No 5RD and Bridgeport Now the funny thing here is. The bag that they packed my take out in was a Carrianna(Vancouver) Restaurant Ltd bag. I wonder if they are related?
