I’ve passed by this place many times when I go to the Richmond Public Market for tasty food at affordable prices. I thought I’d give this one a try and was not disappointed. The place looks somewhat run down and no-frills but don’t let that stop you. I tried a classic chicken and Chinese sausage on rice… one of those dishes that many grew up eating at home(well at least I did). The meal did remind me of home cooking. The chicken was tender and juicy, the rice fresh and hot. The food is made to order so you have to wait about 5 minutes for then to assemble the dishes. In addition to the rice dishes($ 4.00-$ 6.50 depending on the size) they also have a selection of Chinese soups that you don’t normally find in a fast food restaurant such as braised chicken with ginseng for just $ 3.50. For around $ 10 you can also get combos for two(includes large hot pot rice and soup). Worth checking out if you are at the market.

There are quite a few places selling hot pot rice in Richmond, and most people went for James Snacks or Lido… but this one located in the Richmond Public Market food court was easily neglected. Quite frankly, the location was pretty old & beat up. What I am after and keep going back is the taste, price and their attitude/work ethics. This small eatery is family business and opened almost everyday and seems never took day off! For $ 5.50(includes tax) a small pot with lots of meat & veggie at your choice, and the quality is nothing less than the others mentioned above. Yepp! I am a fan for sure.
