KD Restaurant in Richmond is the Lido alternative. It’s got the same kinda menu, its known for their pineapple buns and its pretty tasty. Really this place should have 3.5 stars. I ordered the exact same combo I get at Lido, which is their egg + bun + noodle + drink for 11.99. For a whole .50 more you get the bun upgraded to a pineapple bun! The pineapple bun wasn’t as good as lido’s but it is bigger! Its a little drier than I’m used to but still good. The noodle combo unfortunately did disappoint me because I was expecting a lot more meat and satay sauce(I got the beef satay topping) and it came with a … less than I’m used to amount. Overall though a good alternative to Lido since tehre is no line up!

I have been craving for some good HK-style for some time. Many of the HK-style café restaurants have either gotten way too busy or too expensive in Richmond. In particular, somewhere that serves congee and noodles. KD Restaurant at Parker Place was a pleasant find. As I haven’t noticed it open as the entrance is only accessible from the outside of Parker Place. Their food choices are good — serving the typical variety of foods that anyone from Hong Kong or lived in Hong Kong would be familiar with. They serve breakfast combos tart include choices of eggs, ham, sausages, noodles, rice rolls, and congee. For lunch, a good variety of noodle, fried rice, and even clay pot rice dishes. They also serve dinner as well. The foods are nothing special. But this comment carries a lot more weight than the words convey. It has been difficult to find a Hong Kong style restaurant that has not tried to modify their style to suit the increasingly Mainland Chinese or Taiwanese demographics. KD has seemed to keep true to the Hong Kong style cafes only found in small neighbour villages in Hong Kong. This is something many of the long time immigrants from Hong Kong have yearned for. And this shows the moment you sit down to find Hong Kong Cantonese speakers all around you at KD. So if you itch for some bland food that reminds you of Hong Kong, try this place out.

4.5÷5 This Hong Kong style café is a great place for asian comfort food, with a pretty large variety of choices to pick from at reasonable prices and large portions. I would say the food quality is just slightly behind the previously renowned Kam Do restaurant.

Been craving a good pineapple bun with a slab of butter for a long while. Finally got to try this place. Too bad I had it for take out instead of dine-in, the butter didn’t melt fully(my fault, not theirs). Nonetheless, the pineapple buns were gigantic and delicious. I also got myself an egg tart. I was so excited to see a place serving up shortcrust egg tarts instead of the ones with the puff pastry. But upon taking my first bite, I was unsure whether they were attempting to make a hybrid of the two crust or was it a failed attempt at the puff pastry. Due to this confusion, I would have to rate it a 3 out of 5. It is bigger than the regular egg tarts out there, so that’s a plus. If you buy 6 pastries, it’s tax-free so I got an extra coconut paste danish(?). Not overly sweet which is what I like most about this place. Apart from the food, the service here was pretty good compared to Lido which everyone else recommended me to go. Will definitely come here instead because the service and quality is better.

Solid HK Café style food. Very good menu with very competitive prices. Wife and I shared a combo set and ordered additional side items and had a great lunch for around $ 20CAD. Their Pineapple Bun is is one of the better I’ve had in in the Vancouver /Richmond area. Will return to try other items.

Tried out this new restaurant a few months back on my last trip to Richmond and Vancouver. I was staying in Richmond, so I headed over to Golden Village to grab some breakfast in the area. At the time of my visit, there were no Unilocal reviews yet on this place so I had to rely on my gut feeling. I was on the hunt for some congee, so when I saw that this was a HK café I decided to give this place a try. The restaurant is a medium sized eatery with a modern dining room. The menu was as expected for a HK café. I noticed that this restaurant also sells freshly made pineapple buns with butter so it seems like this spot is aiming to be an alternative to Lido. While they had some combo options, I decided to order a la carte which I went overboard with. I ordered the pineapple bun with butter($ 1.89), an order of minced beef rice noodle rolls($ 4.99) and a fish congee($ 6.99). The congee comes with a side, which I chose Chinese doughnut(aka yau ja gwai). The pineapple bun came out first and it was excellent. The bun alone is already decadent, but when you add a piece of butter it takes it to another level. I noticed that they brought out a new tray of pineapple buns during my meal there, so it seems like this is a popular item. If they are replenishing often, you know the pineapple buns are fresh. Next was the minced beef rice noodle rolls. I think the menu said something about the rice noodle rolls being available only until 10:30 or 11 am, so make sure to order it as soon as you can. The dish was alright. I thought it tasted a bit bland so make sure to apply soy sauce on it. Finally there was the fish congee and it tasted as expected. It is a good choice if you are looking for something that will fill you up and that is warming. The accompanying Chinese doughnut was cut up into pieces. The version here also falls under the as expected category. Service here was very HK like. Cordial and efficiency driven. The service may seem a little lacking in warmth. But given how busy the restaurant was, that is totally fine. I much prefer fast and accurate service in that scenario which this restaurant met my expectations for. If you are looking for a HK café in Richmond, I would recommend KD. Particularly to try their pineapple bun with butter.

The plan on this day was to have the pineapple bun with butter, as a certain member of the group wanted this. and where else are we going… Lido of course, hold up here, as a family friend who worked in Aberdeen asked me what I was doing in Richmond, to get some lunch and the infamous plate… why don’t you try the place at Parker… they serve the same stuff, and it’s cleaner and cheaper… well then. why not! We proceeded to this place, as she couldn’t tell me the name and I thought to myself. K D!!! If this place survives the next few years… people will be using it’s trendy hip name! We arrived at the door, and one of the waiters asked us how many, and sat us quickly, this is around 12PM, if you went to Lido. good luck. on a Saturday, you’d have been waiting at least 30 minutes. if not longer. Right in the front, the baked goods are placed in this closed off glass area, I guess to keep them fresh, in the centre of this place is the till, the tea, and behind it is the kitchen, the rest of this place is seperated into booth and table seating. The first thing you notice, comparing it to Lido is the fact this place is new… the walls aren’t littered with specials in tacky colored paper, the place is bright, and at the same time the place is not as busy as Lido, is this a good thing? We were sat at a booth near the window and given menus and we proceeded to order. We had to feed one member the most important part of her trip to Richmond, the infamous pineapple butter bun(菠蘿油). We also ordered a variety of other eats, Chinese French toast served with fries? Curry fish balls, pan fried cubed turnip cake. We had an assortment of drinks also. Lemon iced tea, HK milk tea… and something my friend ordered with real apple bits! We didn’t wait long for any of this to come after we ordered, and I can say everything tasted pretty good, what you expected from a joint like this… HK café bliss… satisfies the cravings… but what nutritional value this food holds is a question mark, but we were smiling and happy! When it came time for the bill, this is where the service was super slow, I know I asked one waitress, and just waiting for this, it finally arrived, another thing was trying to buy a bun at the end to take away, a little disorgainzed as to the collection of money and someone giving me my bun so I could leave. This is a welcome addition, hopefully it will decrease the crowds at Lido, as Richmond has been needing another joint like this, around this area, ever since Kamdo shut their restaurant doors down! Easy to find, and since it’s at Parker Place, parking should be easy. even though it maybe somewhere else in the big mall parking, and it’s central. As for the review previously posted here(Roger T.), giving it 1 star… really, like I mean really… are you here to eat, or to surf the net? And no power plug, well maybe you should have come with a fully powered device, cause the last time I remember, this place was a restaurant that needed to serve you food, not a power plug!

No WiFi despite«Free WiFi» sign at entrance. Only Shaw Open. No power plug. Was looking for an alternative coffee shop with WiFi. Traditional Hong Kong style café. 奶茶 was $ 2.21 with tax. Morning Brakfast A was $ 5.99 and for these you have many choices in Richmond.
