Came here for dineout, probably not the best idea. Even though over the phone the guy claimed they have the best dine out. Service wasn’t good. They were trying their best, but still very unorganized. We were often asked the same questions by different servers. «Did you order yet? Did you get the menus ?» It took them a while to get us water, menus, and our order. The servers were very confused with who has order yet and who hadn’t. Food was alright. They served us complementary bread, it was stale not even warm. The appetizers we had were escargot, those were probably the best thing of the night. We also had the half shell champagne oysters, they were definitely not fresh… tasted quite fishy even. We had a lemon sorbet afterwards to cleanse our palette. It was pretty delicious and got the fishy taste of out my mouth. For entrees I had the 7oz certified Angus beef New York strip loin. I asked for medium rare and when it was served to me it was very undercooked. The most rare beef I have ever had. It was juicy since it was so rare, but not how I liked it. My friend had his steak over cooked making it impossible to cut and was not juicy. For desserts we had chocolate eruption, it wasn’t bad but nothing special. The lemon cheese cake & mini Belgian chocolate chip Picasso & Okanagan fruit tart wasn’t the best. Overall for my first dine out experience, it was a major disappointment.

To sum it up: Go elsewhere. I came here tonight for Dine Out Vancouver and nearly left. Ambiance was good, location is good, waitress tried her best, but still. Also — we had to pay to park in their private lot which I did not appreciate. We ordered our three course meal, and were excited to see they recommended wines with each choice! After we’d already ordered, we had two other people try and give us menus. Okay, not really a big deal. The table next to us sat down about this time(the only other table I could see from my seat). Appetizers came and were great! We got our sorbet, as promised, and then the table next to us got their meal. We didn’t think anything of it, until they mentioned that they hadn’t even gotten their appetizers yet. So they had their main course, appetizers, and then their sorbet! Then they got their dessert, and we had been waiting about an hour after our appetizers had been cleared. Waitress never checked on us once. Someone came and told us it would be right out. Ten minutes later, it was, but mine was burnt, and my partner’s was raw(he ordered medium, got rare). I think they forgot about us and put it together too quickly. Waitress was nowhere to be seen. Finally we flagged her down and they went and re-grilled his steak after he took more than a few bites(which I’m pretty sure is a food-safe issue). Food was okay at best, but not worth the price, nor the wait. Overall, NOTIMPRESSED spending a hundred dollars on a sub-par meal. Will not be going back.

Food: 2.5÷3 Service/ambience: ½ I got the rib eye and it came with potatoes and seasonal vegetables. The vegetables tasted fresh and natural, a perfect compliment to the heavier tasting steak. The steak was really tasty actually. Tender but flavourful(I got medium rare). I guess I just wished there were more choices in flavour(like how the keg has teriyaki). The potatoes were really good… resembled a sort of lasagna with its many layers. Really good but some bites seemed creamier than others. Ceasar salad was pretty good and the ice Berg wasn’t bad… I liked the bacon bits but ceasar was definitely better. Service was good but when my friend forgot to tip the waitress seemed really angry over it and I felt bad for my friend because his English isn’t good so he probably just didn’t understand the machine. The restaurant was clean and all but I liked the ambiance of the keg a lot more. Seems classier.

I had a voucher(20% off) for Carver’s Steakhouse so I came here with my boyfriend to eat a nice dinner on a Friday night. Made a reservation, but was not necessary — the place was near empty. But we still had to wait at the front for a bit until we got seated… Drinks: They don’t have a big wine(per glass) selection. But I’m not a big wino so this wasn’t a big deal and was able to find something to drink. Food: We ordered the Seafood Chowder(this was pretty good!), Iceberg Wedge Salad(also pretty decent), 10oz New York Steak and the Sizzling New York 11oz. No need to get the sizzling… we assumed it would come on a skillet or pan but it just comes out on a really hot plate, where all the sauce has splattered because it’s so hot… We finished off with the Turtle Molten Cake. It was ok but very sweet. Décor: average restaurant, pretty dark. A lot of the guests that came in are presumably hotel guests so everyone is dressed very casual. So if you want to go out for a nice, high-end steak date, I wouldn’t take them here. Parking: there’s a parking lot but you have to pay. There’s a few free stalls I believe, but they were taken up. We asked for reimbursement on the parking — oddly enough she ended up charging us for extra parking on the receipt and I’m glad I caught that. Service: the server was average. She messed up our order in that she didn’t listen to our requested sides and they came out with the gratin that the dishes are listed with. So we had to order a side of fries after our steaks arrived. And she did add the extra charge of parking(which was something like $ 16) but we’re hoping that was an honest mistake. Overall, it was just an OK experience. But we most likely will never go back again.

When I heard that we would be eating here, I already expected it to be not good. And I was right. They advertise themselves as the«best steakhouse in Richmond». Please, I’d take Keg over Carver’s any day, for a similar price. First of all, they don’t do the additional pricing to make your entrée into a 3-course meal any more. Before, you could pay $ 11 or so to add one of their selected appetizers and desserts to your entrée. That was a pretty good value, and they no longer have that. Also, they no longer have prime rib on Fridays and Saturdays. And, I found that the dining area was a little chilly, like there was a draft in the room. I thought that the service was all right. Nothing spectacular, although they seemed to be trying. I found that one of the waitresses was a little clumsy, and another waitress to be slightly impatient, although the restaurant was not even close to half full. On multiple occasions, I found it difficult to flag down a staff, as they did not frequently scan the entire dining area, and instead just headed back to the kitchen. That was a bit frustrating. Their complimentary bread is one of the few positive things to note. Their focaccia comes out warm, and there is a sweet wheat bread too that I did not try as it’s not to my taste. But the focaccia was good, to their credit. Bread is served with olive oil and balsamic vinegar to dip in. Crab cakes appetizer($ 13): your average crab cakes, two of them, plated on top of a cold and unappetizing salsa. Scallops and prawns appetizer($ 14): we requested to have only scallops, which they were able to do for $ 2 more. Scallops were cooked perfectly. However they were plated with a cold green salsa-like substance that was not that tasty. Escargot($ 14): I decided to have this as my main. It was very cheesy, buttery, and each escargot came on top of a mushroom. Pan Roasted Salmon & Quinoa($ 25): again, for some reason, this was served on top of an odd green salsa-like substance. Salmon was cooked well. Blackened Tuna:($ 29): actually a little bit spicy, surprisingly. Portion is a little small, but it comes with these scalloped potatoes to fill you up. 12 oz New York Steak($ 33): plating was messy. The sauce it came with spread everywhere when it was put on the table. Not attractive at all. The steak was a good size, but I found it a little chewy. This also came with the scalloped potatoes, which were quite good. My family agrees with me when I say that I’m not coming back. There are better options for steak in Richmond. At least I got OpenTable points for this meal.

In a weekend evening, we were craving for steak. We went on internet searching for steak house in Richmond and found this one right at the corner of our neighbour so we decided to go for a try. On the restaurant website it says recommended to make a reservation one month in advance. So we were a bit worried about we may not be able to try it today. Then luckily we got a table easily on OpenTable app. We got to the restaurant around 7pm and we were the second party in the restaurant. We started to wonder why it is not so busy on a weekend night. We both ordered sizzling ribeye(medium-rare). It wasn’t served with iron plate so I was a bit disappointed. However, the steak temperature is good and the side vegetables are perfectly cooked and seasoned. The choice of glass of wine is good to go with the steak(I ordered a sauvignon cabernet). I like the food here but the restaurant was just a bit deserted to me.

Came here for Father’s Day after hearing my friends dine out experience was exceptional. The atmosphere was great, created quite a romantic mood. However once the food came I was disappointed. We had ordered the Rockefeller baked oysters, I was unable to find the oyster until I really dug my way to the bottom of find a thumb nail of a sized oyster. Next was the calamari, nothing special in fact even with the sauce it was bland. I personally order the Fraser valley chicken breast as my entrée. The chicken was dry and bland. The mashed potatoes were cold. And the rest of my family had steak out of the 4 steaks 2 of which were over cooked. My dads was even burnt. They took it back and remade it however the size of the steaks were on the smaller size but had still been over cooked(although better than the first time cooked). The servers had exceptional service except when they offered fresh ground pepper, she didn’t really ask, as she had really just gave it to us. Not a place I would try again, the 1 star is for the customer service

Walked into restaurant and it took two waiters to figure out where to sit us. Steak was very bland and unflavourful. My 10oz filet mignon was oddly shaped. Good value combo which includes appetizer, entrée, and a dessert. Service was subpar for the price point of this restaurant. If you want good steak, I would not recommend this restaurant.

We came here for the dine out Vancouver. They were exclusively serving the dine out menu and were only available by reservation only. They are inside executive Inn hotel and the dining area is not very big. I haven’t been here before but it seems like they were trying to pack as many tables as possible. The place feels like a cafeteria. You have to walk sideways through the aisles and getting into the seats. Maybe they are trying to get as much businesses as possible during dine out?! Certainly hope it’s not like that regularly. I had the spicy tuna martini, lamb shank and trio of dessert. The tuna was really good and the lamb shank was really tender and falling off the bone. The dessert was also quite tasty. However, the extremely packed dining area and the constant coming and going of the servers gathering our plates as if they ran out of dishes made the experience way less enjoyable.

I phoned Dec. 30th, not necessarily expecting to get a rez for New Years Eve. The manager said«we’ve stopped taking reservations for NY Eve but let me see, if it is only two people it should be fine». He said we could come for 8.30pm and he did say that they would close at 10, but that should allow enough time. I appreciated him pointing this out. Upon arriving at 8.15, no one. could find my name from 24 hours earlier, but the place was not even half full so no problem getting seated and they did so right away. I later realized that the manager very accurately did not tell me they were fully booked… what he’d said was, they had stopped taking reservations. Two different things, and this explained the less than half full dining room… they simply did not want a busy NY Eve. Don’t they want to make money? Odd’ but whatever. They get points for nice holiday decorations and for warm service from the FIVE different people who served us throughout the meal. Points also for WARM bread and modern, chic tableware when they could have just gone with ‘Hotel Boring’ as it is in a hotel, the type that is kind in between a motel and a nice five star place. Anyway, for the price of one steak at The Keg you get to choose a starter plus a dessert with your main. Thirty seven bux, a fair price! My caprese salad was pretty good and my boyfriend’s Caesar, while it suffered the description of such without being an AUTHENTIC Caesar salad, was nonetheless okay and they got points for including slice of crusty, cheese topped bread instead of store bought, mass produced croutons. Our filets were quite good, probably not quite as good as the Keg but at a fraction of the Keg’s price I would not quibble. They also got points for bringing over that tiny bread crumb picker-upper thingy that I usually only see at posh snooty pretentious places. My duo of crème brulees were disappointing… not torched and crusty on top nor warmed from the absent torch inside. Overall, I was slightly more impressed by the attentive yet not pushy-to-get-us-out-of-there service, and by the tableware than by the food itself. Still, comparable steak to the Keg at a better price, minus the near-darkness and loud noise of the Keg. I won’t go out of my way to return but would not complain if someone’s birthday/retirement/wedding rehearsal dinner gets booked there and I have to go back.

Not very good. The steaks are unflavorful. For that kind of price, I am comparing it to Chops or even Gothem. Service is good. Atmosphere is also good.

We went there for friend’s birthday. The service was verrrry slow, they had to keep filling us with bread as we had waited too long and starving. We ordered a 3 course meal from the Dine Out Vancouver menu. I had the dized tenderloin for appetizer, it tasted like a food court dishes. Duck breast for main course, it was quite good. Cheesecake for dessert, nothing special and I didn’t finish it

Great atmosphere. Service was excellent. However food was mediocre. Out of five steaks 2 were not cooked as requested. For the amount we paid we could have gone to Keg and had more selections and better varieties of dishes. Should note the side potatoes that came with the steak were fantastic; would have made up for any other faults that evening had the chocolate lava cake not been dry

$ 23 for a burger = pretentious! Very buffet type décor about on par with a laundry mat. Be sure to wink for grandmaw before she goes in for surgery across the street. Good luck finding parking. And if you can afford it… hey, they will at least validate it.

I came here on a Travelzoo coupon that called it «the most romantic steakhouse». If you are going to make claim, you better come through, unfortunately, this place falls short. I took a date here and it seems like they were a bit unorganized. Unfortunately, we did not understand the coupon offering. It was basically based on dollar value rather than what was included with the meal. The way our server explained it, we were to order 2 appies, 2 entrees and 2 desserts. After paying for the meal, it was supposed to be 1 appetizer, 2 entrees and 1 dessert which would have been perfect for me and my small eating date. I ordered a glass of wine that did not come until a lot later. It seemed like we were waiting at lot at this restaurant. Everyone was friendly, but it meant they were always playing catchup. Our appetizers came first, we had the prawns and scallops and the oyster rockefeller. The prawns were pretty good, not much seasoning, the scallops were lukewarm. The oyster rockefeller was very oily and greasy. My date did not like them. I complained about the scallops being warm and they made us another batch which was really nice. The second time around the dish had a lot more seasoning and it was hot this time and quite good. The main course came which was the New Steak. It came with some crab legs which I did not expect. Seem like almost a nice touch except that they didn’t have much flavour with the tempura style battering. The steak was OK, was definitely no where near the best steak I ever had. Finally we received our desserts, which were very good except that we were too full. When we got our bill, we found out about how they charge based on the dollar value, we should not have ordered the extra appetizer and dessert which made us really full. I had to add more money than I expected to the coupon deal. All in all, it wasn’t the best experience we had. Unfortunately, most romantic steakhouse? Sorry it fell short. I really don’t know why they would make this claim.

I arrived early which allowed me to have the entire restaurant to myself and chat with the host one on one. I felt like a celebrity having the entire restaurant to myself. My host was super nice and went out of her way to give me some other culinary suggestions as well as offered me bus directions without asking so that I could enjoy the rest of my day. One of the best customer service experiences I’ve had at an establishment to date. She was very on top of ensuring that the dining area was neat and tidy and paid attention to the little details on the table. Another advantage to being first is that I received a basket of fresh baked bread straight out of the oven The bread was very flavorful that you didn’t need the balsamic oil dip or butter, it was good as is. Dinner service was faster than expected since they had just started food prep service. Even though the timing was exceptionally fast, this did not compromise the quality of the dishes served. The décor was a navy blue. Very clean and elegant without trying to be too pretentious. Fine dining with a more welcoming atmosphere that allows you to be dressy casual. I started out with a Caesar salad. There was nothing that really«popped» in regards to the salad. It was just your average, as advertised Caesar salad, exactly what was expected for the starter. The second main course was the lamb which was very nicely marinated and prepared that it literally fell off the bone. When I mean fell off the bone, I also mean that it fell off the bone and onto my lap twice. The lamb melted in my mouth like butter. The piece was so huge that I felt like Fred Flinstone at the movies when he orders that side rib which makes his car tip over. The accompanying potatoes were nicely piped and well seasoned. The dessert, the best part of every meal, was a duo of crème brulee. One was a traditional vanilla bean crème and the other was a ginger chai spice. Unlike traditional crème brulee which has the breakaway sugar torched crust, the crust was more of a flan finish rather than a breakaway shell. Both flavors were well prepared, smooth, consistent and had an awesome density. The ginger chai has a very subtle flavor during the initial bite, however, hits you afterwards. In fact I had the lingering ginger taste in my mouth well after the meal was over.

Some good points: very nice starters with fresh salads and a rich chowder for some of our group. Desserts were good, some were amazing! Main course meals were variable with medium rare coming out cool in the middle(that would be rare… almost blue rare). Inconsistent doneness within one person’s steak from rare to medium/well done. Service was a real concern. There was a long wait between courses in the half empty restaurant for our group of 9. That was fine as we enjoyed great conversation. However, as we were finishing dessert, on their timeline, they informed us that, no hurry, but the large group standing around nearby have a reservation for our table. We would choose another restaurant next time. Good service should simply be an expectation at this price.

The chef(s) are good, i mean really good. I would give him/her 5 stars. …but fact is, SIZEMATTERS. Albeit the everything from the warm sourdough to the pistachio ice cream was delicious, I’m not not happy with the kiddie-sized portions. It’s really expensive if you consider what you’re paying for. No one at our table of 8 was over 160lbs, yet none of us were really full after a 3-course meal. This is a very simple thing to fix — don’t be so cheap, serve ADULT size meals please.

I came to this place to try it out because they have a summer special deal, where you can have a three course meal for around $ 30 something dollars. You can also add two wine pairings for an additional $ 14.00. First, I like that it was quiet and dimly lit inside. The tables were roomy and wide apart from each other. The service was friendly and fast. From the fresh bread they served at the beginning to the dessert at the end, each dish was presented beautifully and the dishes they were served in was super modern. The seafood chowder or asparagus as a starter was delicious. The main course, I was torn between steak or lamb, but decided on steak was mouth watering, and the dessert which was a molton lava cake was totally to die for. Yes, I will be back to try the other dishes on the summer special deal !!!
