As I type this sitting on a bench just outside of the restaurant. I have come to realize the amazing potential of this restaurant. Great location, bright and airy and it always feels fresh inside. Everything feels clean and happy. The service is always greeted with a bow tied smile or a pretty face and bright eyes. The setting makes me feel the food will be equally attractive. It is, in all its simplicity, Vietnamese food that feels refreshing to the palate. I’m so happy that after all the years they have been open here, they made it work and the formula hasn’t changed much. No surprises, good consistency and I can see why they have such a solid local customer base to support it through the winter«non-touristy» season. I enjoy the positives with few if any negatives. Like I said. Simple clean and effective food.

A bit of an impromptu outing took us to Steveston to see what was Storybrooke(?) land this afternoon. We were hungry, the store looked busy, we figured the food had to at least be decent right? Sadly we were sorely mistaken. We ordered spring rolls and beef phở, both basic staples in pretty much every Vietnamese café. The spring rolls were possible some of the worst I’ve had — barring the ones that teenagers(and maybe drunk people) microwave and burn, they were dry, slim cigar shaped pieces of disappointment. No we weren’t expecting gastronomical brilliance, just decent spring rolls — they were $ 6 for 4 or rubbish. The beef phở was very average: broth was light on flavour and really stingy on beef. Service was meh. We were hungry and still thought the food wasn’t good — that’s saying something. We did leave wondering if Steveston and surrounds didn’t have better Vietnamese café options given how busy this place was. Least to say, no we won’t be returning.

This place is pretty meh. Like most vietnamese places I wanted to take a nap after eating here from the MSG. I mean its expected. The food itself was underwhelming. Vietnamese food is one of those things that is really hard to get right and really hard to mess up. Most places are meh, including this one. Their phở was really salty and lacked flavor, it was sort of like salt soup with a little bit of beef bouillion. The meat was sliced so thin and in a few spoons I was left with noodles. Their appetizers leave little be desired. I mean they messed up spring rolls — the filing was pretty disguisting. It wad worse than the ones you can get at the market. Nice and cozy restaurant though with decent service. Parking is difficult but I isually park in the lot for the japanesr restaurant for free in that area.

The manager Jason was one of the most unprofessional business people we have had the occasion to encounter. food is pretty good, but when we said we didnt want everything at the same time we were basically told to leave, there are other restaurants whose motto is the patron is always right, so diners be aware, weve lived in the area for over 40 years, be careful patrons, not worth the argument with the manager!

Just enjoyed a very pleasant dinner here. Service was decent and pleasant wait staff, but not much for checking with us during our meal. Comfortable, good, reasonably priced food. We don’t have much Vietnamese food experience, but the food was fresh, nicely prepared and flavourful. Excellent value for the cost.

I live in the village and I’ve taken my family and friends several times, portions are small, the owner with the bow tie’s service was wonderful when he first opened… but over time he has be come abit arrogant and rude. I was there with my family on a Sunday afternoon and there were only 3 other tables already eating. I had to flag down the bow tie owner to try and order and he gave a flip of the hand and talked to the young cashier lady and she gave me an evil stare, few minutes later another waiter finally came over… not busy in the restaurant??? I ordered the special«seafood shanghai» ugh! to salty and the noodles were store bought plain noodles. I think Ill be going to the ironwood phở place Phở 37 which had great service, great tea and reasonably sized portions and prices or I“ll try the other steveston phở place.

This is probably the best Vietnamese food I’ve ever had… and I’ve had a lot. I love Viet food. The décor of the restaurant is very clean and simple. It’s a nice environment to eat in. We had their house special phở, chicken skewers, spring rolls and rice paper rolls. The soup broth is THE best I’ve ever had. It tastes so fresh and clear and I didn’t feel thirsty after having it like other broths. The noodles they use are all fresh and not prepackaged. You can totally taste the difference. They were soft and chewy unlike other places that are either too hard or just mushy! Their appetizers were very delicious. We had it with some satay sauce which is a little spicy but also homemade. I was so satisfied with the food and the service! The restaurant is family run and everyone was super nice! Authentic Vietnamese food! I also loved their dessert. We tried the tiramisu and coconut cake… I can’t choose a favourite! The coconut cake was super moist! Too bad I don’t live in Vancouver, I’d go there all the time! This place is a must if you are in the city. And to top it off, they’re located in Steveston village… or for Once Upon a Time fans, in Storybrooke(where the show is filmed)!

Had fresh beef noodles, crispy seafood noodles, seafood soup, and salad rolls. They were all really amazing. The freshly made beef noodles were especially good. Would definitely recommend.

The rating depends on what you are looking for — most really good Phở restaurants are hole in the wall mom and pop shops. PROS — The ambience and service is great here. Cleanest phở place I’ve ever seen with modern décor. Kid friendly cutlery and dishes. Location right in steveston village. CONS — smaller portions, pricier than most, and the food is good but not exceptional. Will go here if in the area for sure.

The food was just ok overall. Had the shrimp and sugar cane dish for $ 5.50. Not worth it. Had the rare beef and beef balls phở and it was ok. The broth was just ok. Service was just ok. They were not rude but not friendly either. The only plus was that the restaurant looked nice inside. This place isn’t the best there is so I wouldn’t go out of my way to eat here.

Vancouver has many good Vietnamese restaurants but why we drive all the way to Stevenson for phở? Well. we tried most of phở places in Vancouver and time to check out the good rating phở places at Richmond. When we arrived at 12ish, the place almost full which meant it had to be good? After we got seated, I found this restaurant is one of the cleanest and modernly decorated Vietnamese restaurant in lower mainland. The menu has wide variety of choices and few food pictures in it. My hubby had BBH, the broth was light and bland. My beef phở was mediocre. The spring roll was a bit over deepfried. The service was great and place was clean. But, the food wasn’t good enough to make us return when we’re in Richmond.

This is by far the best phở restaurant in Richmond. The service is fantastic and the place is clean. When I want a light lunch, I always order the salad roll. The dipping sauce is my favorite part besides the shrimp. The broth and noodles are consistent and in the summer time I order the noodles without soup. Never leave the restaurant without ordering their tiramisu or their coconut cake. Their desserts are freshly made everyday and I promise you they are addicting.

I’m so full! Just had a large #12(house phở) tripe, tendon and all. Mmmmmmm the soup base is the star and even outshines the meat. Wait I’m hungry again. Service is pleasant and food arrived quickly. Quiet at 8pm on a Saturday night.

The place is clean, the food didn’t blow me away but certainly had no complaints, the service was good, and it’s in Steveston! The price is a bit higher than other Phở restaurants but I figure the rent here is a bit higher, plus I don’t mind because the location is convenient. My only gripe is that it closes at 9pm. If it opened late I would probably be there at least twice a week.

A super clean Vietnamese restaurant. Not the cheapest, but still ok. Washrooms are so clean. Service is friendly. The waiter remembered all our orders perfectly without writing them down. I got the phở with beef brisket, raw beef, and meatball. I asked for no onion on top. Changed the soup to spicy. They said they can do this with any phở, apparently, no extra charge. The soup was good and it was a good portion. The bean sprouts do not come cooked. I guess I will need to ask for that next time. I added a spring roll for $ 1.50. That was not worth it, I would say. They are small and not really what I expected. See Gabriel’s photo for reference. Phở LAN does this much better(and for cheaper). The coconut cake was okay. Not too sweet and very moist. For $ 4, a reasonable price, but I would get dessert elsewhere next time. I would come back here for their main courses! So comfortable and clean. And I’ll have a Timothy’s frozen yogurt after — perfect!

This is probably the cleanest Vietnamese restaurant that I have ever been to! The staff are very friendly but a bit slow. They’re definitely understaffed since there were people waiting at the door but nobody to seat them. Anyways, the portions are quite large($ 8.50 for a large bowl) and the beef is very tender. The spring rolls are very small but tasty and the coconut cake was moist and not too sweet. I think this will probably be my new to-go place for phở!

The most expensive bowl of delicious BBH I’ve ever had! Everything from the broth, to the meat slices, to the tender piece of pork hock — it was scrumptious! But for $ 10? I know they’re at a prime spot in Steveston Village and there aren’t any other Vietnamese Restaurants in the area so they can definitely get away with it. Bottom line, hands down one of the most(if not THEMOST, I forget how much it was at Hanoi Phở) expensive Bun Bo Hue out there. Funny thing though. The description for this bowl states«A signature soup: includes prawn & pork cake slices, beef shank and pork hock served with thick vermicelli noodles enveloped in a spicy homemade broth». When I first read this, I thought… «PRAWNS? Oh no! This is going to be some crazy fusion BBH!» So when the bowl came, I was expecting prawns. But there were none! Not that it was a bad thing, I was happy there were no prawns. I was happy the BBH was delicious! And so then I thought maybe they made a typo in the menu. I inquired and the guy said that they put PRAWNCAKESLICES and pork cake slices. Ahh! It all made sense. Oh and they have pretty interesting desserts for Phở. Deep Fried Banana w/Ice Cream. Tiramisu! Toasted Coconut Cake?! What! Might try that next time. Was it pricey? Yes! Was it delicious? Yes! Was it a clean restaurant? Yes! Was the service good? Yes — They came to ask me how my food was tasting during my meal! This never happens at Phở! Would I come back? Yes! I think it was worth $ 10. This was definitely a mind-blowing BBH experience for Little Red Jenn.

Good Vietnamese food in the village! They opened last year in the same location as the Chinese restaurant. Bright and clean inside. Nice selection of traditional items from fresh and fried spring rolls, phở bowls, vermicelli to cooked/fried meat and rice dishes. The service was fast and friendly, and the food came quickly. The salad rolls were as expected. The seafood phở bowl was a good size for the large and the basil, sprouts and toppings were crisp and fresh. Prices are a bit more than what I pay for Vietnamese along the Kingsway stretch of Vancouver, but reasonable.
