We came at lunch to get their lunch time special(~$ 12 for one entrée item and a drink). They only have limited entrée and beverage options for their lunch time sets, however. The portions are plentiful for the price. I recommend their creamy masago with imitation crab meat pasta — it wasn’t too heavy and was quite tasty. Although good, it tastes like any other masago pasta made from other Japanese pasta place, which was why it got 3 stars. Their other items that I look forward to trying on my next visit include their omelette rice, high tea, and dessert waffles. The café is clean, roomy, and not too noisy, which made for an enjoyable and comfortable dining experience. It is also café conveniently located in Aberdeen Centre and is easily accessible via the Canada Line. For those driving, they also have complementary parking in their parking lot for shoppers. Looking forward to coming back again to try their other items!

I really dislike writing bad reviews but this is how it is. It was pretty busy in here when I went in, the name is so cute but how decieving. The wait for just my tea was over 20 mins… the main came out before the appy and the server tried to tell me its bc they are busy so they messed up. She even asked me if I told the person who took my order if I wanted my appy first… should I really have to do that? In anycase the fried rice egg thing was slathered in unidentifiable sauce. The rice tasted old and reheated…*sigh* and what else can I say… did I mention it’s cute? Oh well. Save yourself the trouble and do not spend your money here… please! Also I have been waiting 20 mins for my bill… maybe if I just left they wouldn’t notice?

Tried out their dinner sets tonight and must say it is a great price for what you get! We tried almost all the items on their 14.95 and 16.95 dinner menus which come with an entrée, drink and dessert. This is a great price because the entrée alone is around 10 – 14 dollars so your drink and dessert are only around 4 dollars! Out of everything I tried, i enjoyed the salmon creamy risotto because of the huge salmon portion although it is very rich and creamy, and the paella because the sauce was very tasty! The pastas were all okay too and their chicken thigh roll is quite good as well. We ordered a omelette rice as well and that one tasted great! These sets all came with dessert and our favourite was the molten green tea lava cake but being dessert lovers, we also ordered a chocolate toast cube stack piece of beauty. I would honestly trade this in for everything I ate tonight but thats mostly cause I’m a huge sweet tooth. The cubes themselves were lightly toasted and topped with chocolate ice cream and a thicker mouse/cream around the sides, not only was it beautiful to look it, it was amazing to put in my mouth! The biggest downside for this item was the price as this toast cost $ 10 and it wasn’t very big but the taste was great and was not too sweet or overly indulgent. I would return because of their good prices and of course dessert but then again, there are so many other places to try!

Try desert before was fancy but taste average. Came today to try their lunch with my toddler. I ordered spaghetti and asked for sharing bowl, they said only have sharing plate. The I realized the spaghetti I ordered was spicy, then ordered rice and chicken steak for my kid. And the rice came in a bowl… I was like ==” thought she said they have no bowl… Chicken steak was hard and dry. Service was below average, straight face without smile. Might go back for their fancy looking desert but will try to void due to the service quality.

Food 3.5÷5 Came for dinner here and got their dinner special, which included a entrée, drink, and dessert for $ 13.95. For the entrée I got the spicy squid pasta… I assume the taste should be good but the sauce was overdone with chilli and spread my mouth with nothing but spice(and I can handle spice). I forgot to ask for less sweetness for my honey green tea and it was so sweet that I had to dilute it with water. However their Japanese cheesecake made up for everything — not too sweet and the texture was delicious. Ambience/Service 3⁄5 The décor of the restaurant is what attracted me. Everything was very cute and intricate and tables were somewhat private to their own. The high ceiling definitely helped cut out surrounding noises too. However the size of the place did not correlate well with the number of servers as it was very hard to wave someone down. Also from orders, to food, to the bill everything was very dragged out and took forever for something to come(or seemed more so for my table).

First off, I love Aberdeen mall. It is definitely the best Chinese mall there is. They do such a good job keeping it clean and decorated for the season(right now in December it is so festive!) This café has the most beautiful desserts. And contrary to it’s name, is not a sugar overload. It’s just the right amount of sweet to please the chinese palate. There are also savory main courses, I have yet to try them, but definitely will the next time I visit Richmond(I’m from seattle).

Very nice décor, and the food is amazing. They have very creative dishes with interesting combo of ingredients. We ordered seafood miso cream udon and creamy massage pasta with crab. They both taste superb! We will definitely come back!

Over priced and the food was odd. Both plates had baby spinach thrown on the bottom of the plate as décor? Neither of them really worked flavour wise. Risotto was slightly clumpy and I swear was made with just mushy white rice instead of arborio rice. Do yourself a favour, wander over to Sura on the other end of the mall to have a nibble instead.

A group of friends and I were visiting from the states and my friend took us here. The service was alright but we all seemed to really love the food, esp me since it’s been a month since I’ve been to Canada and I’m still thinking about the miso salmon risotto I had… cute place, weird location inside the mall, but I would come back here again if I was in the area!

Food: 3.5÷5 Service: 4⁄5 Ambiance: 5⁄5 Value: 4⁄5 Cute décor and conveniently located in the Aberdeen mall — if you’re taking the Skytrain. However, the underground parking of Aberdeen is a whole other mess. Came here for dinner and tried the miso cream salmon risotto, rolled chicken with spicy sesame sauce, creamy rose pasta and the calamari starter. Finished off with their chocolate honey toast. Portions were fair with good value. There wasn’t a «perfect» dishes among the ones that we ordered, however there were a lot of components from each dish that I really enjoyed. I loved the risotto(but the salmon lacked seasoning) and the creamy rose pasta sauce(but I prefer the pasta to be cooked to more el dente). The chocolate honey toast was soooo yummy and not too sweet. Will come back to try the other items if I’m in the area again… That is if this establishment lasts in what seems to be a revolving door space for businesses.

This place was better than what I prepared myself for! They offer all kinds of food from hightea to pan fried udon I think the price is quite wallet friendly A perfectly hightea place for a casual gossiping afternoon The cute bubbly waitress suggested me mayo pan fry Udon which was off the menu, and it was quite delicious. The only complain I had was they put fresh cream under the macaroons… It made it all soggy and hard to pick up I really do hope they last for a bit longer so I can visit again and try their other food.

If you call yourself Sugarholic than chances are I will be there. I had this book marked on my page since December 28th. I am not in Richmond a lot, therefore, it took me longer than it really should’ve to get here. I had to take my chances coming here ’cause they don’t publish their hours of operation. Thankfully they were open as part of regular hours. I am not sure why this is called sugarholic considering that there is an equal balance of sweet and savory dishes. The savory dishes are heavily seafood influenced. The high tea ranges from $ 30 — $ 50 which is standard pricing, however, wasn’t in the mood for sugar, therefore, settled for two salmon stakes on a bed of miso«risotto» The wait for the food was around 20 minutes when it was quiet, however, when it was served it was done to perfection. I was intrigued by the miso infused risotto which was really just boiled sticky rice as risotto is completely different, however, was intrigued by their take on it. The place is really nice with chandlers and white furniture. It totally doesn’t fit with the mall, however, a good visual escape. I like how outside the washrooms there is a wash basin so that you don’t have to wait in line if all you want to do is wash your hands. Customer service was friendly even though they were semi clueless.

Ok. I really liked the food that I got here today. I happened to be here for a business meeting. What? A business meeting at a girly café? Yeah. As strange as that may seem it was quite natural being the Asian Hipster wannabe that I am, not. Ok, so… The only girly thing about this place is, well, ummmm everything. That is with the exception of the lunch menu. You can get meat and pasta. So this review is of course for the lunch menu and not the deserts(which look spectacular BTW). We had: –Japanese style omelette filled with Beef, rice and gravy. –Unique to the western palette pastas like their fusion spaghetti with Masago fish eggs and crab stylized Pollack fish(artificial crab meet leisurely found in cheap California roll sushi). The Pasta was pretty good. Right up there with other famous fusion pasta places like Café de l’Orangerie. Some coffee and a pot of Early Grey Tea. The waitress staff was so KAWAII that I could hardly control my excitement. Just for that I want to come back. I mean the food of course. Hey, I’m too old for eye candy. So if it’s here that you have a sweet tooth, but your date has a savoury one. Both can enjoy a good time here. Business meeting, casual date or a Valentines special treat. It’s all good here. C’mon by and give it a try. TyPOs FOC(Free OF ChaRgE)

Love how pretty the place is, a very chic French Parisian little café tucked in the corner of Aberdeen Centre. I’m hoping this place sticks, because this little corner has been an ever-changing series of different restaurants. Sugarholic Café is a dessert café that offers waffles, high tea, pastries, high tea, and also salty meals. Came here a few times already. The food is decent, I come here more for the atmosphere :) Great place for dating or a romantic meal. Just one note: put more toppings or sauce on the toast dishes so they don’t seem too dry. Or add powdered icing sugar to your pastries, that would make it perfect!

We thought of giving this a try because we saw a friend’s blog about it and we saw cheesy omelette rice with lots of ground seaweed. However, when the rice came, no cheese at all. I asked the waitress that I don’t see any cheese anywhere in the plate but both the chef and her said the cheese melted in the dark brown pepper sauce, which is impossible. So we look at the people around us and they have a lot of yellow cheddar so we insisted the waitress to ask the chef to remake it since they refused to just add the cheddar on top. Then we waited for 10 to 15 minutes and we finally got it with only 1⁄8 the cheddar compared to what people around us had(no way comparable with the picture on my friend’s blog). WHATANINSULT! Don’t know if it’s a revenge or racist(because my girlfriend is from mainland china), but it doesn’t take an idiot or a color-blind to know there was no cheese. Ridiculous attitude. I don’t know if it’s because my girlfriend is from mainland China.

Hoping this one sticks!!! especially a much needed dessert place. Being in this industry, I’ve lost track how many different food joints at what appears an amazing corner location right by the water fountain… part of a big restaurant consortium with Café il Nido and Neptune Chinese but let’s digress. Contemporary, European décor; like high tea feel almost. ordered the fresh dessert in the big, high, square toast. enough fruits and not too sweet as what it appears. worth a repeat. of course they were open on Christmas Day lol
