Such a fun time! We were driving around I’lle-d’Orleans and stopped in and were treated to a free tasting as it was the end of the season! Our host really knows his stuff and described all the ciders, terrines, and mustards like a champ! Beautiful setting and just a fun, off-beat experience!

Swanky with nice ciders and preserves like terrine, mustard, and jellies, this place somehow manages not to take itself too seriously while still putting out good products. About a 10 minute drive from the Ile d’Orleans bridge lies this beautiful tasting room. A chicken coop greets you as you pull up, but once you’re inside, they are very happy to have you. Our host spoke beautiful English, addressing my wife and me as «Ladies and gentlemen» every other sentence. The ciders are good, but a bit sweet! I prefer mine drier, but they had such a nice variety that we still found three different varieties we liked enough to purchase. I can’t wait to bring out the Maple-infused cider for Thanksgiving or the Cranberry one at Christmas. They make cider vinegar as well, which were okay. They incorporate that into their mustards –part of the tour included sampling a dozen mustards. Even I, a mustard hater, didn’t mind the three I tried. My wife loved every single one. Their preserves were alright; most didn’t stand out but there were some bold flavor combinations(tomato and vanilla? Who knew that was a thing that tastes good?) and they ice cider jam was so good we had to bring one home with us. A lovely little variety, charming hosts who didn’t mind that we walked in 10 minutes before closing time, and a gorgeous view from their outdoor patio make Domaine Steinbach a must-see location when on Ile d’Orleans!

This is a great place to try preserves, mustards, and their duck products. The tasting was $ 4 per person and well worth the price. Learned that it’s a family run business — –one of the people conducting the tasting was part of the family. And there are lots of different flavors of preserves and mustards to try. They have a really pretty patio if it’s nice outside. Definitely a must do on Ile d’Orleans.

Superb location with the terrace overlooking the river in the orchard. The tasting rocks combination of ice ciders Duck products, jams jellies and mustards. Everything was delicious and the tasting was a lot of fun and well worth the four dollars each. We made a lunch of the terrine de canard Su cidre aux pommes. And get this they ship!

2eme halte de notre tour de l’ile gourmand: la cidrerie steinbach. Extérieur un peu defraichi, discours un peu trop commercial mais produits excellents. Nous avons été moins séduits que chez monna et filles mais sommes tout de même repartis avec quelques gourmandises a caser dans la valise: gelee de pomme a la menthe /a l’erable Mention speciale pour le cidre de glacé et celui a l’erable A noter que contrairement aux idees recues qd on arrive de france, le cidre ici né petille pas !

Le Domaine Steinbach, tout comme l’île d’Orléans en général, est un endroit pittoresque. L’Île d’Orléans n’est certainement pas en manqué de magnifiques vues et de bons produits locaux, comme l’on peut le remarquer ici. En arrivant, on peut apercevoir le domaine en toute splendeur avec le verger et le fleuve, ce qui donne une bonne première impression. À l’intérieur, vous continuerez à être satisfait; leur boutique est très mignonne et met en valeur des produits tel que des confitures, de la gelée, des cidres, des moutardes, des petites friandises, et plus. Cette expérience agrotouristique né s’arrête pas à la boutique, mais continue aussi au bistro terrasse le Canotier. Allez y en amoureux pour savourer des produits de terroir sur leur belle terrasse, ou bien en famille où les jeunes pourront visiter la petite ferme avec quelques animaux.

On n’est pas sorti du bois(ou du verger) quand on décide d’entrer dans le Domaine Steinbach, qui est à la fois une cidrerie, vinaigrerie et confiturerie(«moutarderie«aussi). Et c’est pire quand on possède une carte-cadeau nous permettant de goûter gratuitement à tous leurs produits. Je vous mets au défi de rester de glacé devant un de leurs 6 cidres apéritifs ou desserts, tous élaborés à partir de pommes biologiques cultivées sur place… Certains sont en plus aromatisés aux cassis, fraises ou framboises… Cela dit, la fameuse dégustation que l’on fait quasiment à la file est une aventure pour les fins palais, où entre le sucré et l’épicé, l’alcool et l’aigreur, l’on né cesse de se dire en se flattant le bedon et se léchant les babines: «MMM, c’est donc bien bon cette affaire-là! «. Enfin bref, vous aurez été avertis, c’est un piège dans lequel on prend plaisir à tomber. L’actif de mon dernier passage avec ma blonde fut: un vinaigre de cidre de pommes au romarin + un confit d’oignons au sirop d’érable(orgasmique) + une gelée de pommes-érable. Ça vaut aussi la peine de siroter un bon verre de cidre sur la terrasse qui donne sur le fleuve. Assez champêtre merci.

On an island where everything was closed in February, we saw the owner walking his dogs and he offered to open up his shop for us. We had a full sampling of all the ciders and tried the onion and maple preserves. They also had jams and jellies and vinegars and lots of other goodies. We picked out almost one of each — the cider was great! The best of ALL was the onion and maple preserves. I could eat that stuff every day. We bought only one little jar of it and goes great with cheddar… I wish I could swing over and get a few more… but alas I’m too far away. If you are on the island stop in for a tasting, he makes delicious stuff in there on his little island retreat!
