The location in a strip mall next to Hwy 99 should be obvious but GPS took us to the back door! The WiFi here sucks, cannot connect in our room on third floor. Not fast here in lobby either. Our room at front of hotel, top floor, is large and quiet. View of businesses across highway and mountains beyond is pretty nice.

I noticed that the town of Squamish was ¾ of the way to Whistler from downtown Vancouver, so best bet was to stay in this town versus driving all the way back to Vancouver after a day of fun sightseeing. I found the Sky to the Sea hotel & conference center through when I decided to book. The prices here were quite generous, as it appeals to budget conscious travelers who are on the way to Whistler, but don’t want to be in the urban sprawl of Vancouver. The drive here from Vancouver was quite scenic, but about 50 km apart. When I got here, I had to do a double take. I booked this place for roughly $ 80/night CAD. The Sea to the Sky hotel and conference center is connected(or seems to be) with a shopping strip mall along highway 99. It seemed to blend in with the shopping experience, but at least it was sort of easier to find. At least finding food and other necessities are a breeze nearby, since there is a bar /restaurant on property, as well as other eateries in the shopping complex and other commercial hubs nearby. I found it hard to believe that this place caters to the business community — since it’s not even close to Vancouver, but this place proved me wrong(to a certain extent). As I entered the hotel, the lobby was pretty decadent and the ambiance was quite nice. Almost like being in a Sheraton or a Hilton property. Still, it’s a quaint property that’s like in the middle of nowhere, which caters to the business folk as well as the family vacationers traveling to and from Whistler and Vancouver, and anywhere else in British Columbia. I was here for one night on Friday, 5÷1÷15. The parking situation is fine, since it was like a small walmart parking and there was plenty of parking. Easy to park and find your car. The Sky to the Sea hotel accepts credit cards and the wifi here was pretty good too. Fast, productive, and free is what I like in wifi. The only problem that came about was after check out, when they called me 2 days afterwards to asked me if I used the room’s microwave, since they discovered a big stain in there and they had to clean it up. I didn’t use the microwave and told them so. I only used the fridge during my stay. Although that incident didn’t mar my stay at the Sky to the Sea hotel and conference center, the overall experience was pretty good. The room itself was cozy and sported 2 twin beds. The television worked well, as well as the mini fridge. The bed near the window was comfortable. I was on the 3rd floor and a window view of the parking lot, so I can see my rental car. Either way, my time here at the Sky in the sea hotel and conference center is a nice escape from both whistler and downtown Vancouver. Recommended if you are in the area and need that relaxation. I know I did. 3.5 stars, bumped up to 4.0. Support local! B

Worst sleep ever. Paper thin walls, ventilators in the back of the hotel that hum 24 hours a day. We were ready to drive home to Vancouver in the middle of the night, and are now wishing we’d had! Now we get to drive home exhausted and waste half a day sleeping. Never again.
