Had dinner there last night. Was after the main rush and not too busy so was expecting decent service. Not to be. Very average to poor service. Waiting too long, waiting for things that did not arrive, dirty dishes right till when we left. The food was good to above average, good flavours and well prepared and presented. We will give it another go — hopefully a better experience next time. 3 stars based on food.

I have recently discovered Pepe & Gringo’s as a great restaurant. What makes that sad is we have lived in Squamish for about 4 years now and I avoided it like the plague because of my first experience when we first moved here. I guess it shows me that I shouldn’t base things on first impression. Our family has been here each payday(our family out night) for the last month and a half and each time I have been more than satisfied with everything from portion size, taste, texture, presentation, and everything in between. You might just call them my new favourite!

We went here as this place was recommended. The service and atmosphere was good and the food was well prepared. My only complaint is our meal was more expensive then we expected because they charged us extra for the prawns that came with the meal and it was made to sound like they were included. I feel you need to be more clear when you are charging extra for something like that so the customer understand but I’ll know for next time. Overall still a good experience.

Been here before but don’t remember how it was, just that it was decent. Anyway this time can be considered the first since I actually remember. They have a nice fenced patio with plenty of seating. On a Sunday evening they had live country music, for me a rarity and though not my style of music, it fit quite well with the surroundings and spruced up the ambiance. I do remember we didn’t have live music last time though. So the food– steak special, chimichanga, deepfried seafood dumplings. All done very well, using fresh ingredients. Seafood dumplings resembled something from a fancy tapas bar, potatoe soup tasted homemade with a decent dose of bacon. The chimichanga even though not authentic– because it wasn’t deep fried but rather just a baked burrito– had a good fill of rice and veges. with Salsa, Guacamole and Sour cream on side, accompanied with rice and refried beans. There’s a choice of chicken beef or fish! So of course I opt for the fish(being a rare option). If I made the chimichange, or if I go with the Red Robin recipe, there would be more cheese. Unfortunately Red Robin no longer carries my favourite item. It’s tough to provide all Western meats, Mexican and Pasta oh and my friend did have butter chicken. Soo if a venue can manage a multicultural menu it’s definitely worth noting and returning time and time again.

It’s a killer! We stop here all the time we go to whistler from vancouver or other way. It’s an amazing place!!! All the items are great! Never had a bad meal. Their curry is crazy! An amazing dish! Scallops, pasta,… They canals any martini you like; Great service; Cousy atmosphere; Bat and tv of someone wants to keep an eye sports. Just come and check it out. I’m sure you will not be disappointed.

We took our daughters to lunch here during a visit to Quest University Canada. Delicious entrees, reasonably priced. Excellent service. Desserts were delightful. I recommend Pepe & Gringo’s. However, it is NOT Mexican. There is a diverse menu, each of us had something different and all were quite good.

Food was good. Too much variety for the chef to manage. Service was slow.

First of all — apparently this place is listed and advertised as «Mexican». I should point out that in reality it’s Indian, Italian, and god knows what else. We went here because the cool sushi place next door had a half hour wait, and we were really hungry — turns out that we probably would have gotten our food faster if we had just waited for a seat at the sushi restaurant. As other reviewers have noted, this place has really dim lighting, and the bathrooms are a little scary(no toilet paper, rickety doors). The menu is a really confusing mix of cuisines, which was a little disconcerting, but in the end the food was pretty good. The cranberry salad left something to be desired, but the fettuccine alfredo was pretty much spot on: it was still just a little bit undercooked and snapped in my mouth, which is pretty much the perfect texture for pasta. Unfortunately it only came with three prawns in it, which seemed a little sad considering we had to pay extra for them! The waitress was lovely but it would have been nice to see her a little bit more often — we had a really hard time ordering our food as she would constantly disappear for 15 minutes at a time. This place is alright, but unfortunately the speed and attentiveness of the service we received was terrible. If you’re after a good bowl of pasta, this is probably the place to go.

Terrible service, small portions, high prices, microwaved veggies, men’s restroom needs a new door knob… locks you in the restroom… REALLYSUCKS… received a sarcastic response from the owner bad mouthing me for my review.

Take out on two pastas for dinner. Very well cooked, great flavors, spice-ness, and uniqueness to each dish. Impressed by the quality. Great place to grab dinner after a long-day on the mountain.

Interesting menu. Beer has been a bit flat every time I’ve gone. Half decent service. too expensive for the quality.

good quality food, great patio, but sparse service. we drove into town and got to the restaurant by 8pm. by then most tables were clearing up to leave, altho the restaurant was by far the busiest in the area. i wasn’t that hungry and opted to get the appy mussels with butter, white wine and garlic sauce, and it filled me up very nicely for $ 12 and the mussels tasted fresh. the actual entrees were priced higher, of course, but their portions were decent for the price. friendly service but, like i said, a bit lacking when we needed to get our drinks refilled or when we needed the bill. i would def come back for the food tho when i’m in the area.

My wife and I stopped in here after a climb up the Chief. She had heard good things about it and wanted to check it out. The menu has a lot of variety(pasta, tex-mex, indian) and prices for our two tapas dishes(butter chicken and nachos) were $ 15 each. We eat a lot of curry around Vancouver(and other cities) and this was hands down the best butter chicken I have ever had. They have an indian chef in the kitchen and he apparently has magic hands. I expect I will be driving from Vancouver to Squamish when I need to satisfy my butter chicken craving now. The nachos were great too! Our server was fun and chatted with us, patio looked big but we sat inside. Seems like a good place to bring a group of friends to drink and eat good food.

If I’m in Squamish, then I know where I’m having dinner… discovered pepe & gringo’s on a rainy Fall evening, & by accident… you know how it is, strange town, should I check this place out or what… certainly glad that I did! Very friendly staff, good kitchen, delicious meal & nicely presented. Now, that’s where I go, whenever it’s dinner & I’m nearby. I look forward to being there in a more summer moment, so can try out the patio space!

Really varied menu, with everything from mexican to indian choices, which seemed odd, however dinner was delicious! Enjoyed the halibut tacos, and my boyfriends stuff pork tenderloin was fabulous. Service was really attentive, and friendly even though they had two massive birthday parties in there at the time!

This was a great find on the way back from the Black Tusk to Vancouver. Outdoor seating was nice. The menu was fairly varied, and not what I would typically picture for a Tex-Mex restaurant. The house salad was fantastic. For entrees, I chose the mixed grill, that included scallops, salmon and halibut. My wife had the skirt steak. Both items needed salt to suit our American palate, but were excellent.

I wanted this to be good and that’s why I went at least 5 times over a few years. But, when the best thing they do at a tapas/mexican place is… pasta(?) you have to wonder. Service varies from slow and unfriendly to perfectly decent. It depends. If you’ve ever had real Mexican food, avoid what they try to do — it will not impress you. Sometimes they have some nice fish but to be safe, have the pasta. Everything in this town is overpriced including Pepe and Gringo’s. Having said that, you can do better in Squamish.

I came here after a day on the mountain in the winter. The restaurant was quite spacious and it was a bit on the dark side — but it might become a disco(?) in the evening. Since it was a Tex-Mex type place I got a burrito. I wasn’t expecting too much, but I was pleasantly surprised. The portions was ample — but I was able to eat all of my meal — it’s rare when I don’t. The burrito reminded me of a wrap, but I knew not to compare it to anything I’ve tried before. The burrito was a 6⁄10 on my authenticity scale. There was also some chips and salsa that preceeded the meal which one can never go wrong with! The one thing that did not impress on me was the price — it was a bit on the high side from what I recall. Overall, the place is acceptable and I would go back. Don’t expect a Mission-style burrito and you’ll be fine.

I came here for lunch before heading off to a whitewater rafting trip(woo!). They had a great lunch menu, with prices ranging from $ 7-$ 14. Items were quite varied, from a simple soup and salad combo to chicken tikka masala to three taco fiesta. I order the spaghetti bolognese since I wanted something filling but simple for the days activities. The food took a bit longer to come out than I would normally want for a quick lunch, but when it came out I was not disappointed. It was still hot and fresh from the kitchen, and tasted pretty decent. I definitely would have loved the chance to come back from dinner and see how the vibe was, but this is a great place in Squamish to come for a nice and relaxing lunch.
