Came out with the whole fam jam(Gramma, Hubby, and both kiddos) tonight & so disappointed :-( We were served like warm water, had to ask for silverware & napkins, and while our main server was friendly there were a couple not so cheerful ones walking around. The volume was super loud inside — think having to almost tell to hear each other. Chips and salsa was $ 9.50 and came with just a handful of chips. They asked if we wanted more — which we did — but didn’t find out until we were paying that there was an additional $ 4 charge for more chips! Also, both chip portions were 50% crumbles or pieces broken to about ¼ chip size — pretty hard to eat with salsa. My 4 year old ordered rice and beans for $ 4 and man were they bland. He literally asked if they forgot to put in the flavor :-( The Yucatan Pescado fish tacos(2 for $ 11) were the best thing we had but nothing to write home about. My daughter enjoyed the Gringo Beef tacos(2 for $ 11) but the price still seems high. They were super drippy as well. Chicken al pastor tacos(2 for $ 10) were super bland and all 3 adults in our group elected to add hot sauce to these. We also shared street corn — 3 ears for $ 11. This was probably my favourite item here. Service was slow and hit and miss depending on who was helping you. Overall, I’d give the food 3 stars but the value was poor. 6 tacos, 1 bowl beans/rice, 3 corns, and chips/salsa — $ 70 I’d rather go to Tres Carnales or Calle Mexico any day — same prices but authentic and super flavorful. Cerdos — I don’t think we’ll be back.

Sadly, my experience here was quite disappointing. We arrived about 7:30 on a Saturday evening, and the place was packed, both inside and rooftop. Long before our food arrived, however, it had emptied out. Considering how long it took for our food, it made me wonder how long people had waited when the crowd was ordering. Seating was a choice of tall backless stools or a low bench, neither contributing to comfort levels, and the tables for stools didn’t allow much room for food, let alone a jacket or purse. Water came promptly but was not chilled, and our glasses were hot out of the dishwasher, resulting in warm drinking water. We had to ask for silverware(the table’s bucket had only knives and one fork in it) and napkins. We ordered the chips with two salsas and guac. The bucket of chips was quite small, resulting in a lot of leftover salsa and guac, so when the waitress asked if we wanted more chips, we said yes. She didn’t ask if wanted to ORDER more, just if we WANTED more, so it was quite a surprise when the bill showed we were charged an additional $ 4 for the second small bucket(the original order was $ 9.50, so a total of $ 14 was crazy for relatively few chips). To add insult to injury, the chips weren’t even warm and most of them were broken crumbles, too small to easily dip in the salsa. This really seems unreasonable to me and ended the evening with a sense of irritation. It may seem petty, but the combo of inferior chips plus sneaky charging really bugged me! Tacos are 2 for $ 11 — we tried sets of fish, chicken and ground beef. Although they were certainly okay, they weren’t especially impressive. A bowl of beans and rice was $ 4 and was pronounced flavourless by a four year old aficionado who pushed them away after one bite. The best item on the table was the corn on the cob(3 ears for $ 11), which everyone enjoyed. Would I return? Probably not. The food is «okay» but pricey for what we got, both in quality and quantity. Service was spotty and at least one of the servers walked around in a fugue of grumpiness which also didn’t do much to make the evening more pleasant.

Came for a weekday lunch and was surprised they weren’t super busy. The guy behind the bar was our server and he was great. Super friendly and a pleasure to deal with. We were told they didn’t have chicken or fish that day, so we went with the migas huevos bowl($ 12.50) and the chorizo tacos($ 12) on corn tortillas. Hearty portion of chorizo in both orders, and it was very tasty and flavourful. The bowl needed a bit more flavour — I wish it was served with cilantro and a wedge of lime since I think it would take it over the top. There were lots of chips and the egg was soft and fluffy. They also didn’t have fresh avocado, so they used guacamole on our orders(guess it’s not made in house?). Overall, we enjoyed our meals and the service. We’ve been here numerous times and have always had a pleasant experience. It’s a good alternative to having to drive downtown if you’re towards the West end.

Wow, where to start. Stopped in Saturday around 4pm. As soon as we walked through the door we were greeted with an «HOLA». The place is cute with a rooftop lounge. Reminds me of a small place we went to in Mexico. The food was amazing. We had the nachos and the Chicken El Pastor tacos. The nachos could have used a little more cheese but the tacos were perfect. If you’re looking for a quick bit or a few drinks, give this place a shot.

Took my wife out for a special dinner. Food was amazing! Had several different kinds of tacos and they blew my mind. The staff was helpful, prompt and super friendly. We will be back for many more dinners! Thanks Cerdo staff for an awesome experience!

After every sandwich spot within a 15 km radius was closed, we saw this taco joint. I had the chorizo tacos and a bulldog. The bulldog was delicious, although there was some brown dirt floating on it — not enough for me not to finish, but enough. The chorizo taco was delicious. Lots of meat, plenty amount of guacamole. I had it on a corn tortilla, very soft and tasty. The guacamole was very fresh. Will definitely return.

Cerdo caters to the tastes of Albertans rather than Mexicans, but unlike Julio’s Barrio, the food actually tastes pretty good. They also have a good selection of Alley Kat beers on tap and the rooftop patio is a great place to enjoy your brunch. I wouldn’t drive out of my way to eat here, but it’s a great option if you’re in St. Albert.

Best nachos(with chicken) in the word! I know, it’s a big claim but they truly are great!

Offering good service and a warm welcome, Cerdo suffers from being a tad inauthentic and from featuring prices that are too high for this type of food and this type of dining environment. Although I’m happy enough to have tried it out, I don’t know if I’ll be in any hurry to pay a return visit.

Subpar menu. The lime margarita was the worst I have ever tasted. Tequila poured into a glass with lime flavouring and slush. It had no salt on the rim nor was it stirred. My wife ordered wine. Sent it back because the glass was dirty. They returned with another dirty glass of wine. They offered nothing as compensation for two orders of dirty glass wine. The nachos were pretty tasty. Small helping for the price. Without sugnificant improvements this restaurant will not even be a memory.

My boyfriend and I visited this restaurant over the weekend and had a really great experience. We sat on the patio upstairs which is one of the best in the city. I recommend ordering the Tres Dips(corn chips with guacamole and two salsas) as soon as you order drinks because the wait time for food can be a little long if you have nothing to munch on. We ordered the Gringo Beef, Chicken Al Pastor and Chorizo tacos. All of them were really flavourful and delicious! We’ll definitely be back again.

I’m glad St. Albert is getting some fun new places like Cerdo + Tequila! I get tired on the chains and if you’re looking for a fun time locally owned St. Albert spot then I say this place is it! The shrimp tacos were the best! The salsa had peaches in it and it was simply a light delight! I had a delicious glass of Pinot Grigio and a bulldog. I think they should use different glassware for the bulldog cuz it was hard to get a full stir on, which is essential for bulldog enjoyment. The place was very busy and the ticket times were a bit long, but it was a Friday night so I give y’all an acceptable pass on that. All in all, I’d definitely go again! It’s like one of the best meals I’ve had in stalbies(St. Albert) Oh, and they had chorizo from D’Arcy’s Meat, which is local to Stalbs! Classy move! That meat was da bomb!

Myself and my wife have been to Cerdo on a number of occasions and have enjoyed our experience immensely. During one visit we had the opportunity to speak with one of the owners and told him how happy we were to have such a great new(and Mexican) restaurant on the St. Albert scene. In demonstrating our St. Albert pride, we chose to attend your restaurant last night to share the great experience with our eldest daughter and her boyfriend, and my youngest daughter for the purpose of a family birthday celebration. We arrived at 7:30 pm and chose to first order drinks and appetizers. Shortly after ordering our main dishes, I realized I had forgotten to order a side dish that my wife & I had wanted. I was told the kitchen had closed five minutes ago and it was not possible to get what we wanted. Our waitress came and advised us of last call and we were obligated to put in another order for drinks. Our order came and the food and drinks were good. Our entire party was shocked when the waitress came and interrupted our dinner, requesting that I pay the bill so that«things could get settled and it would make things smoother at the end». I interrupted my dinner to pay. The interruption was incredibly awkward and I cannot ever recall a situation where dining out, where a server has actually interrupted our dinner for the purpose of payment. I was horrified at this request and the audacity to interrupt our meal, however I think I was so surprised that none of us at the table said anything. I also generously provided a 15% tip for a $ 200 meal that had not yet been complete. Our server advised us many times to «take our time» with our meal, yet once paid, never bothered to attend the table again to see if we wanted dessert/coffee etc…(she did get us «to go» containers for our food). As we were finishing off our food, imagine our shock and horror when this time, the COOK came by telling us that we had 5 minutes til closing. We were NOT impressed. We were made to feel that we and our patronage was not wanted(although our money clearly was). We were rushed and treated rudely by the COOK, not to mention the server. Our entire party was pretty angry at this point and left, feeling that we were not valued and quite frankly shocked at the treatment that we received. As mentioned, we have previously attended Cerdo and was very happy with the experience until last night. My wife and I as St. Albert residents feel that it is important to support small and independent businesses within the community, however we will take our business elsewhere in St. Albert if this is the new standard at Cerdo.

Trust me, get the pork! Thank god we finally have a great taco place in St. Albert. I’ve been twice and I can’t get off of the pork tacos. The steak tacos are great and so are the shrimps tacos, but that pork… It beats any taco in the city and I’ve been to them all. They have a great selection of drinks, the tequila selection however is small but I’m sure that will change(they are new). The 3 dips with chips is really good, and the corn as a side is amazing! The only reason it’s not five stars for me is the rice and beans. They’re not good. Everything else is wonderful.

In March, St. Albert welcomed the new Cerdos Tacos + Tequila, a Mexican eatery located in the central Perron District and heart of the city. Sister restaurant to the neighboring Jack’s Burger Shack, Cerdos Tacos + Tequila offers a wide variety of starters, huevo bowls, tacos and a drinks menu that will make tequila enthusiasts and margarita lovers proud. Taking over the space of the short-lived Feast & Lounge, the owners discovered that demand for the comfort food-oriented menu was less than expected what with Jack’s Burger Shack right there. With a passion towards Mexican cuisine and tacos, the space was reinvented and reincarnated to give you Cerdos! Last month I spent one of my few available lunches to check Cerdos out. I recruited my friends Josh and Jesse(two hungry fellows!) to help me with the spread. The P&C Shrimp tacos(think the Chinese takeout peaches and cream shrimp) were surprisingly delicious! Shredded cabbage and slivered almonds gave the taco a nice crunch, while cold marinated shrimp was refreshing and cooked perfectly. The plantain and peach purée added a touch of sweetness, a summer-patio kind of taco if I ever had one. Despite this taco being originally high on my «errr, I don’t know» list, it ended up being one of my favourites. Pork carnitas is a must order at any taqueria. It’s a standard in my books. The pork was well cooked, crisp edges and the salsa verde was delicious. More salsa verde please! I don’t joke around when I’m determined to order the whole menu. Chicken Al Pastor and Gringo Beef tacos were also on our list. The chicken was marinated with guajillo chiles, a flavour that I wished pulled through a little bit more. The pineapples were a nice touch but became the predominant flavour for me. The Yucatan Salmon tacos were a favourite amongst my tablemates. The spiced rubbed salmon were cut in bite sized pieces, making it easy to get a bite full every time. Ah… the chorizo. At the time, Cerdos Tacos + Tequila was using the local D’Arcy’s Meat Market’s chorizo, one of my favourite products from them. Loved the fresh guacamole and definitely a re-order item for me. Since my visit, they have switched to using chorizo from The Salt Room by Chef Tony Krause. Love the fact that they’re supporting local businesses and restauranteurs! Our last taco for the day, the Cachete Beef Tacos. I was really excited about this one, a Mexican oregano and cinnamon braised beef with queso fresco and salsa caliente(tomatoes, habanero, jalapeño, cilantro, and lime). Perhaps my hopes were too high, I really wanted to taste every single described flavour profile! A delicious taco, nevertheless, but I’d love for a pop of cinnamon and the salsa caliente to hit me with all it’s got! All taco orders come in a set of two, with a choice of corn(gluten-free) or flour tortillas. My personal preference: the flour tortillas. Tacos range from $ 7.50 to $ 12.50 and all can be made«Quesadilla style» for an extra $ 3. I would love to see more of the house made salsa on all tacos or perhaps put on the side for diners to add on at their leisure. Margaritas(also available as non-alcoholic) and cocktails(non-tequila lover options also available) were on point. Service and the kitchens were fantastic, given our large order and the start of a lunch rush. Overall, a great space and atmosphere for St. Albertans and a with a wide variety of tacos, something to please even the pickiest! Happy for a great alternative to the much-loved Tres Carnales(still my fav!) that can be a little inaccessible for those who don’t live in the Edmonton core. When the St. Albert Farmer’s Market reopens in June, Cerdos Tacos + Tequila will be a fantastic spot for a meal and a lovely addition to their downtown area. In addition to Jack’s Burger Shack, the two restaurants anchor the small complex and no doubt will make the people hungry for more!

It’s great to finally have a good Mexican restaurant in St Albert. Cozy but trendy restaurant with a laid back atmosphere. Food was great! Great flavour and nice presentation. Services was great. We received our food and drinks very quickly. I will definitely be going back here.

Friday’s = time to try a new restaurant for lunch. Bonus, new lunch buddy! We decided to check out Cerdo Tacos + Tequila, sister restaurant to the über popular Jack’s Burger Shack because Mexican options are few and far in between this oasis we call Edmonton. Okay, technically Cerdo’s is in St. Albert but come on, it’s pretty much the same. We arrived around 12:15pm and the place was packed. We had to sit in the bar area but eventually were able to snag a table as the lunch rush slowly filed out. Man, I don’t know if this is normally the case but service was slooooow. Took forever for us to order and even longer to get our food. I don’t normally complain(that much) about service but we only ordered two dishes! Here’s a breakdown of their menu along with prices(starters, huevo bowls and tacos). Seriously, I really, really, REALLY don’t like when restaurant websites don’t list their prices. — Nachos($ 13.50) with the Saltroom’s chorizo($ 3.00) — corn tortilla chips, jack cheese, tomato, green onion, jalapeño with sour cream and salsa as dipping sauces. The chips were crunchy and had that satisfying bite to it but the cheese could have used some better layering skills(it pretty much was all clumped into the middle). The jalapenos weren’t spicy at all but gave the dish some colour. We added some chorizo — a tad expensive for a few pieces of chorizo, although it was tasty. The nachos were decent but we felt like you could make these at home pretty easily. Factor in the price, it’s definitely overpriced for what it is. — Chicken al pastor($ 9.00) — guajillo marinated chicken, pineapple, cilantro and radish. The tacos come in pairs, topped with cabbage and onion and with your choice of either corn(gluten free) or flour tortillas. I don’t understand their choice of offering two tortillas over the standard three. Given that, the tortillas were stuffed with a good amount of chicken. Cilantro was fresh. Pineapple was itty bitty pieces — a few small sliced pieces would have gave it a nice contrasting sweetness. The chicken wasn’t bad. Overall, the taco was missing something — a kick to it, a Mexican hot sauce or something like that would have helped. We didn’t see the hot sauce bottle until after we ate the whole taco though. Oops, our bad but they should have had something in it originally! It’s nice to see a more diverse selection of food options available in St. Albert. I know they have mad love for chains over here so I applaud the owners for bringing something new and different. I will have to try a few more dishes to see if my opinion changes of Cerdo’s. As for now, decent spot but not my first choice in town when I’m craving Mexican food.

Great to have a Mexican option in St. Albert! It is the same great owners as Feast and Lounge, but with a whole new menu. When it comes to the drinks and food we tried the peach margaritas, nachos with chorizo, and chorizo tacos with a side of corn which were all great! The taco portions are large so I would recommend splitting one between two people.

Not authentic Mexican tacos but flavors were pretty decent. Food — chicken al pastor. Not really slow roasted on a rotating stick al pastor(pork) but flavors were decent, good mix of sweet and salty. Carnitas were good as well, well seasoned. Chips and dips — guacamole needed seasoning and so did the salsas. 2 tacos for $ 9-$ 10 is not great value, that is where they would lose a half star. Atmosphere — quick eats. Maybe felt a little rushed. Drinks — didn’t enjoy any of their adult beverages this time and didn’t offer Jaritos for pop on the menu. Overall — mixed 3.5−4 stars. I would definitely give it another go. Not as authentic or tasty as Tres but it gives St. Albert another food option.

Just had the opportunity to try the new menu! It’s like being in Mexico all over again. You can really tell everything is fresh made. The real tortilla chips and fresh guac are a great addition! The dessert platter was something I’ve never had or expected, and absolutely loved it! Surprisingly, even the vegetarian options were awesome! Glad to see the menu is staying fresh and with the times. Although I do miss some of the old favourites, the tacos make up for the void, and the varieties of tequila wash everything down nicely!
