Lovely atmosphere. Cozy and chill. Good place to have a few drinks with friends! Service is friendly. The seats are standard chairs and bench set up. Music is low key. Solid chill spot!

This pub style restaurant has a comfy feel and a menu that reminded me of pub fare in a London pub. I chose the steak and mushroom pie. Tasty but a bit overdone. Friends were happier with the quiche of the day and the soup. The variety of menu items made this a great place for groups to ensure everyone can find something to tickle my tastebuds. Bön Appetit!

Ordered a Fettuccine and got a Fettuccine soup. That’s not to say that yours will come that way, since the table next to us also ordered fettuccine and it looked perfectly fine. I guess it’s a bit of a lottery. Good luck!

My partner and I stopped by for a bite-to-eat prior to my nephew baseball game at 6:00pm. The place was dead, fair-game for a Monday I suppose. We sat ourselves at a table when we arrived were greeted by our waitress promptly. It was a hot day out so we started with a big glass of iced water: fitting considering we’re going to be sitting under the evening sun watching baseball in less than an hour. I ordered the cheddar burger, and my partner order the Cajun Jabalaya. The ambiance is pub-ish with soft music playing in the background. The restaurant was clean and inviting. The prices are reasonable, especially considering the location in downtown Stratford. Rooms are available(lofts@99) upstairs for those who wish to get it on with one of the locals lol. Suppose you could also use a room if you were attending a show, but not sure this would be your location of choice for such activities. Other than my Burger bun being a bit hard, the food was delicious! The waitress didn’t come back to check on our table, otherwise I would have mentioned it. We had to flag down our waitress to get our bill so we wouldn’t be late for the ball game. She was polishing silverware:) We will be back but not in a hurry.

Was one of the only places open late on a Monday, so we drank there. A huge beer selection, but nothing good. Just mediocre lagers. And overpriced food for soaking up beer.

Ghastly service. We waited for 35 minutes for our order, despite frequent reminders to our server — response was«oh no, the kitchen is trying to make me look bad». When she finally decided to go check on our order she said someone else had taken it! We ran across the street and grabbed something premade at Let Them Eat Cake or we would have missed our show altogether. The servers at the latter told us the locals know not to eat at Bentleys, although I’m not sure how true that is as it’s always busy with a poor server to table ratio. I will never return.

I’ve been to Stratford many times over the years and for the first time I visited the Bentleys bar portion of the restaurant. I walked in and sat at a table and was approached very quickly. I ordered a beer and fish and chips which pretty much arrived at the same time. Personally I like to enjoy my drink before the meal arrives but that’s just me. Bentleys has a nice atmosphere and while I was enjoying my meal many more people came in and the restaurant filled up very quickly. What followed was a few moments of disorganization where people were coming in and sitting down and then being told that they had to be seated by wait staff. One waitress seemed to be a bit miffed about this and resulted in two tables getting up and leaving which was quite unfortunate. The food was okay, I ordered the fish and chips. I’ve had worse but I’ve also had better. The fish was good but a little too much batter and the french fries were wilted I would’ve liked them to have been more crispy. But they were tasty and the tartar sauce was amazing. All in all it was enjoyable and I would go back again.

Took FOREVER to get served a drink at the bar. A guy next to us had already been waiting 6 minutes for anyone to acknowledge him. We popped in just after noon for a drink and a quick snack before the theater. The place was busy with families, singles and lots of older people chowing on pub food. We finally got our drinks and the bartender gave my boyfriend the Mill St. Tankhouse Ale instead of the Organic Lager. He noticed the hoppiness immediately and she was nice and happily exchanged it. He ordered the Poutine and I had a Spicy Caesar and the deep fried Brie(Rule # 223 of Dining out: if there is fried cheese on the menu… ORDERIT!) Our food arrived without haste and we asked for our bill at the same time so we wouldn’t be late for the show. The poutine as pretty disgusting. The gravy was Franco-American style canned crap and the fries were pretty soggy. Cheese was just shredded Mozza, which made it hard to eat for all the stringiness. Curds are proper and Poutine dare not be served with out them. Fried Brie was good. But how can deep fried cheese not be good?(Hence the aforementioned rule). I would come back here, despite this low scoring review. I think they were just really busy and I like the local pub feel and the set up of the place. It reminds me of a few places I used to drink after my shift when I worked in Niagara-on-the-Lake. I would love to see this place closer to midnight. It’s a real nice, dirty pub. And if you need a place to sleep then have rooms upstairs, too. One stop shopping? Possibly.

Plenty of seats and a few local brews but otherwise, quite mediocre. For the type of food(burgers, pasta) the servings could have been quite a bit bigger. It’s always sad to see a patty being dwarfed by the bun.

Dropping in for lunch, my companion and I were quite impressed by the tasty food Bentleys serves up. Conveniently located on the main drag in downtown Stratford and featuring a large bar(with an enticing selection), Bentleys offers typical pub fair with a few theater town twists to keep it interesting. This visit, I opted for a steak and mushroom pie, a good choice with its rich and flavorful broth, hearty chunks of beef, and a fresh side salad accompaniment. My companion had the salmon and crab cakes, a flavorful and refreshing combination that came with a large bed of «Stratford slaw». Now, I normally am not a fan of slaw of any sort, but this was pretty good with a vinegar base and a tangy flavor. We both tried the split pea soup, which was thick and creamy, and split a tiramisu for dessert. The pastry itself was a bit light on flavor(which was fine with my companion who isn’t a huge coffee fan anyways), but the whipped cream on top was amazing. Oh, and the coffee itself is delicious too. The place itself has a comfortable«lived in» feel — the booths aren’t very comfortable and the paint is chipping, but it’s clean and cozy, without pretentiousness. There are some cushiony chairs by the bar on one side if you’re more in the mood for lounging. Service is friendly, casual, and calmly efficient. No complaints there. And prices aren’t bad, especially for the area and quality of food. Our entrees were in the $ 13 dollar range, but there are plenty of snacks and sandwiches at or under $ 10. The selection is large, too, with something for everyone… from burgers and poutine to Indian butter chicken and quiche. When we arrived, the dining room had just opened, so reservations were not a necessity. However, by the time we left around 12:30 or so, the place was absolutely packed. It was«American» weekend, so that could be part of the reason, but if you plan on going at the normal lunch hour, you might consider reservations. I believe it can get pretty crowded in the evening too.

It’s reliable. We usually go once a year. Good beer choices. The food is fine, but I just think it’s not as good as it used to be. Fish and chips batter is a bit doughy, as another reviewer said. Have it elsewhere. Hubby liked his pasta and son liked his shepherd’s pie. Service was a bit haphazard, but not awful.

I love Bentley’s. Always have, always will. I began my Bentley’s dining career at the tender age of seven drinking Shiley Temples at the bar out of big, heavy glass steins. It was the BEST. I was
