The food was mediocre — especially the mushroom bowl — and needed to be flavored more subtly. The service was pretty offhand too.

Food was delicious and a decent portion. We trusted our waiter to bring us a good beer choice based on our preference and it was perfect. A great place to stop before a show. The waiter even asked if we were seeing a show to make sure we had time to eat beforehand, very thoughtful.

Had their Chuck Burger with English Bacon and could not have been better. Their home made Wasabe sauce is top notch to put on pretty much everything. Gives you all the flavor of Wasabe without the unbearable heat. Service was a little slow as we had to call over to get served a few times. Other than that, good food spot.

Spent the day in Stratford and ended with a fantastic meal at Mercer Hall. Great beer(soo many to choose from), amazing service and incredible food. Everything is locally sourced and you can taste the difference! Recommend the chuck and brisket burger, the in house pickle was delicious and don’t get me started on the aoli.

Amazing food and service . We drove from Toronto for the day and will defiantly come back. We had the miso borscht soup, sausage plater with wasabi mustard. the pulled pork calamari . Everything was up above par. We were so glad the restaurant we were planning to go to was closed

Our meal was fantastic and the ambiance was perfect for an upscale pub. We were there the second night of their new menu. At first I wasn’t sure about a pub/Japanese/German fused menu, but it worked for our family. The beef and salmon burgers were great as were the spicy Brussels sprouts, fries and sweet potato chips. We noticed the full entrees at other tables and they looked delicious, too. The physical menu took a bit of deciphering but was worth the time. The huge selection of beers was fun. There must be something for every beer drinker’s taste. A nice wine list, too. We’ll be back!

We were a party of 7 that had dinner there on a Saturday. A few hours after we ate one of our friends had stomach problems then the following day 3 more had the same dilemma. Called the establishment to complain and the person just said«okay» and hung up. So much for customer service.

Mercer Hall should be Merci Hall. thank you for the wonderful food and service. Starting with a glass of wine on the sidewalk café, it just got better ad better. From start to finish every element was well prepared and delivered. Don’t miss a chance to try this one.

Great beer and food. The braised beef poutine with fois gravy and Montforte Cheese curds was amazing. Best poutine this big man has ever ate. Wife ordered the Montforte Halloumi cheese salad and I the Perth County pork ramen with smoked trout. Both were excellent. Dessert was the s’mores sunday with a slab of homemade marshmallow. Beers an awesome Black Swan Wild Child(local brew which was sessionable so ordered 3. Love sours? Then order one. Thoroughly enjoyable meal. Stop in if you have a chance.

We came for dinner on a Saturday evening. Salmon board is well presented on the board and delicious — but hei what could go wrong with salmon sashimi :) My duck breast was medium rare. It is well presented on the plate, but a bit on the dry side, i wish is more moist but it is difficult to do it on duck breast. I recommend they should use different part of the duck or could create a sauce to go with it to reduce the dryness. Sorry to say, the chocolate sauce garnish on the plate doesn’t really go well with the duck. It makes it so bitter. For the prime rib, it is perfectly cook and seasoned, but i wish they can be more creative on the presentation. Overall, i like the atmosphere and service, the food is good but they can do better.

The service was exceedingly slow. When were told that there was an equipment malfunction in the kitchen. The duck was tough and not flavorful. The chocolate in the sauce just doesn’t work. The duck is much better at Revival(the Church). The salmon appetizer was good. The burger is good.

The initial look at the menu on July 18 pretty much showed that meat was front and center in all of the entrees. So we played it safe and ordered the salmon entrée and the prime rib. The salmon was undercooked as ordered — but oddly enough there was still a pin bone in it, which is surprising. The menu said that it would be served with sorels, but it was clearly oyster mushrooms. The tips were cooked ok but the stems were still raw. The rice cake was deep fried — I don’t think it was meant to be done like that. Nor was the sauce appropriate for the fish. Apparently there wasn’t much salt or pepper used. The prime rib was medium rare, which is ok. But there wasn’t any flavour and there was enough fat and gristle. It definitely wasn’t worth $ 29, and with only a small amount carrots and snap peas. The horseradish was puréed and didn’t really have any heat. Oh — and there wasn’t any sides. The bartender suggested I order a side and I am glad I did — the frites and aioli($ 7). It was decent fries but the aioli was pretty tasteless. But I am glad that they used salt at least. Between the salmon, the prime rib and the fries, the fries was the best item ordered. Maybe we should have questioned the use of oyster mushrooms instead of sorels or the lack of seasoning on the proteins but we had a show to get to. But oh well. I don’t think that I would come back.

We had a lovely meal at Mercer Hall. Would definitely come back. The kids couldn’t make up their minds so we ordered a good slice of the menu and let people pick and choose what they preferred. The salad with mint was stellar. The pickerel fish sandwich was great. The burger a knockout. Smoked salmon charcuterie tray excellent. Fried chicken very good. Ramen delicious though too sweet. Sides of potatoe salad, fries, and baked beans all enjoyable. Décor was very pleasant. Our table at the back got wonderful lighting from a skylight. A great pre-play meal. Service was pleasant and timely.

I can’t help but think that I am being a little critical — it appears my 3 stars might be a random outlier. We are a house divided over Mercer Hall. We did not stay there but did enjoy dinner before our 8pm show. When we arrived service was great! To start we split the greenest salad. I thought it was good but my boyfriend thought it was a letdown. For mains he had the burger which was SOGOOD. I had the prime rib. It was cooked to perfection but there was this weird tomato sauce all around the plate, including on the prime rib. The horseradish jus was to die for but I would have liked some good old fashioned horseradish on the side. That being said, it really was cooked well and the broccoli on the side was tasty, too. After dinner is when the service disappeared. We ordered tea and a smashed brownie for dessert. The brownie was okay — nothing to get really excited about. And they forgot my tea so I just cancelled it. I also had the Cherry Pit cocktail, again — okay. I will definitely be back to give Mercer Hall another try — probably in August. There seemed to be a lot of potential and I hope we just came on an off day.

Loved it last year and it is still great. Dinner two course is $ 48. Dessert $ 6 more. All of our food was great. We had hanger steak, porchetta, and duck leg. They were all really good but the duck was the stand-out. Great huge wedge salad was beautifully seasoned. The cold cucumber soup was excellent. The tar-tare was a big hit as well – they added chili seasoning – very creative. The chocolate tart was a beautifully done with a great texture. The spring mix dessert was really different, but again – creative and good. It may be our new Stratford favorite restaurant.

Delicious spot for a pre-theatre lunch/brunch in Stratford! The menu is small but varied with a daily soup, beet salad, sandwiches, burger, or their famous chicken and waffles. I had their Mercer Burger which is cooked sous-vide and slightly pink in the centre(the waitress warns you in case you are expecting more of a classic burger). It came with delicious toppings on a nice bun — delicious! The burger comes alone but you can add sides. I got the apple slaw which was light and crisp — refreshing and without too much creamy sauce. My DC had the chicken and waffles. The fried chicken has lots of spices and is perfectly juicy, while the waffles were fluffy and sweet — a perfect combo. They have a good selection of craft beers and cocktails, although I opted for a nice almond rooibos tea. It’s a bit pricey(there’s the cost of needing to pay extra for a side, compared to other places where a side salad or fries would be included), but the quality of the food is great. The service is also quite attentive and thoughtful, while the dining room is spacious and inviting. I’ve tried a few restaurants in Stratford and this is one of my favourites. Would definitely be back and it looks like they have some fun events too(e.g. industry nights with $ 5 drink specials). There is a hotel above the restaurant too.

I’ve spent the last three days here in Stratford attending the plays and obviously dining frequently. This is hands down the best meal I’ve had in this town. The cozy yet chic atmosphere, friendly and informed staff are a great prelude to the menu’s offerings. I had the albacore tuna lightly seared, served with spinach and white beans plus kimchee – a satisfying combination of flavors. For dessert, warm banana bread with caramel icing. Delicious in every way.

We came here in October after one of the plays on Sunday evening. Unfortunately at this time of year, a lot of restaurants in Stratford has closed due to the low season. A lot of your top picks by not be available, and it was on Mercer Hall that seemed to offer the local fine dining that I was hoping for this weekend. I can’t remember the details of the meals I had, since this is a later posting, but I do remember the Pork Belly was delicious as was the clams. The portions are of decent size, leaves you room for dessert and comfortable. It’s not cheap, but a good value for a nice date dinner. Less than $ 100 per person with drinks if I remember. I fully recommend it, especially when the other options were Subway, or an Italian resto in the basement.
