I ordered the pulled pork sandwich. Very, very tasty. Served on a toasted ciabatta bun buttered with garlic butter. The pork has onions and mushrooms mixed in, tossed with 40 Creek Whiskey BBQ sauce and topped with mozzarella cheese. One of the better pulled pork sandwiches I’ve had.

The Good: Gloria’s is a Sudbury staple for a good reason. Whether you come for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, expect quality diner food. Just don’t expect upscale dining. The breakfast food is generally good and quite cheap. I have also tried the club sandwich at lunch, and it was solid with very good french fries. The pie selection is excellent and quite good. The service is excellent. The wait staff is both attentive and friendly, and I have never waited long for my food. The connecting convenience store is also a nice addition. The Bad: The portion sizes are MASSIVE. If you order fries with your sandwich at lunch, expect three or four potatoes worth of fries. While this is a plus for some people, I find throwing out two potatoes after splitting a plate with a friend extremely wasteful. The food is also diner quality and can be a little on the expensive side, so do not expect an amazing gourmet meal. The Ugly: The only serious issue with Gloria’s is the extremely dated décor. The restaurant has clearly never left the 1980s and is in major need of renovations. Despite the dated décor, I recommend Gloria’s if you are looking for a solid diner experience.

I’ve been in Sudbury quite a lot recently as my mother is in the hospital there. Although not a happy reason to be in Sudbury, I found Glorias… a landmark restaurant known for its homemade comfort foods. I’ve been there several times and my favourite thus far was the heaping portion of spaghetti with meatballs(whole wheat pasta is an option) and the thick generous portion of garlic bread. I also enjoyed a ½ portion of roast meat dinner on another day, which was still quite large and all that I needed. The meat was a little bland though. My chicken salad on another day was quite a let down. Just iceberg lettuce and some lacklustre chicken… not very tasty but it filled me up enough. I did have a fantastic broccoli cheddar omelette for breakfast, but I’m not a fan of those little square fried potatoes… would have preferred real grilled potatoes. And their thick homemade bread would be a welcome replacement for the blah regular toast. I really like their homemade soups though. I’ve tried three different ones and they’ve all been good and are served generously. I think that this is the place to go for big plates of club sandwich and fries or pasta and other comfort foods. I wouldn’t go there for a salad again. They also have free wi-fi which is a plus! And I have really enjoyed the service at Gloria’s. It’s priced right, reliable and comforting at this place. They also have a frequent customer card, which I am using to get $ 10 of a meal at some point!

Went up North to visit friends and family for my birthday which naturally led to some intoxication. The next morning I went searching for bacon and eggs and my friend took me to this place. I had the one of the worst breakfast dishes ever here. I ordered the hungry man breakfast and the best part about it was the toast(which is very sad). The eggs and bacon were rubbery, the ham seemed seemed to be pink meat disk and the potatoes were under cooked and flavorless. I was hoping the homemade beans would deliver some flavor, but they were very bland, better off serving me Heinz beans out of the can. Even the chocolate milk I ordered tasted like powdered chocolate stirred with milk, it was not refreshing at all. The service was good but it did not make up for the poor quality of my meal. I will not return to this place again and do not recommend it.

Gloria’s has been a landmark in the South end of Sudbury for a generation. This is a diner that is not pretentious, has consistantly good food and is not fancy. While the world around it changes, Gloria remains the same. I think the waiters must be cryogenically frozen over night as they alway seem to have the same staff year after year and none of them age. Maybe there is something they add to the food? I am not certain on that point, but I am always happy to see them and the service is good. There is a local artist who also seems to be rooted to his favourite seat and never eats, only draws all the time. On a Saturday morning this place can be very busy as the local university students come here to put themselves back together after a night out at the bars. Last nights outfits and makeup is usually the give away, but enough about that on to the food. Classic Canadian food — if there is such a thing. Poutine and peameal bacon(Canadian bacon for the Americans who drop in) are staples here. The classic range of sandwichs including westerns, grilled cheese and clubhouses are available here. There are always lots of fries. The burgers are good but not special, unfortunately they are not handmade and were frozen prior to getting to the table. Salads are good but not special. The deserts are great and the pies are fresh all the time. The daily special is always good as well and the portion sizes are generous. The all day breakfasts are nice as well. I think they devote more than a page of the menu to breakfast. Last but not least the prices are reasonable for the food offered. If you are looking for a consistant no frills good food, go to Glorias. If you are looking for something new and exciting you are going to be disappointed.

A great place for a cardiac arrest breakfast! The classic greasy spoon place but the taste is great, the service fast, friendly and efficient — a regular outing for us on a Sunday morning. Try their pea-meal bacon — very tasty. Gets busy after about 9:30 so get in there early.
