The food was good. The Memphis platter is the best value for your money.$ 54.99 You get every type of meat and 4 sides. More than 2 people could eat but great leftovers! Better to get the platter rather than the 2 meat meals that are $ 24.99 each. The Mac and cheese balls were very flavourful! You can really taste the smoke in the beans. The service is a little lacking. We would have ordered more beers if they had been on the ball. Most of my meal was without a drink. Overall great experience. We’ll be back.

Went here and got a pulled pork sandwich. While the service was great, the meal was definitely not. The sauce on the meat sucked, Bullseye would have been better. I think anyone from Memphis would laugh at what this place is passing off as BBQ!

We went there and we had Catfish and pulled pork. The catfish was over salty and dry it tasted not like fish at all, it tasted like it was to long in the fryer. The pulled pork looked like dog food and tasted the same. Never had such bad food at all.

The food tasted amazing, but the portion sizes were ridiculously tiny. I sent a photo(posted in Photos) of my «full Southern platter» to my friend who is actually Southern and he thought it was an appetizer! For $ 26, it was definitely not enough food. Service was great, atmosphere friendly and casual. I also loved the Coke in a glass bottle. I’ll definitely be back to try more of the food!

I’ve had a number of meals at Memphis Blues at a number of locations, this one however was really great. If you haven’t had a chance to try their soups I highly suggest you do. This trip we tried the meatloaf soup and the brisket and onion soup. The meatloaf soup is as it sounds — meatloaf with all the glorious smoke and spice flavours as well as vegetables and not much broth while the brisket and onion soup was their take on a classic onion soup. Both were lovely.

Bought the groupon and went here on a Tuesday night. It was busy! Ordered the Memphis platter and it came out right away! Soooo good and so much food! We brought half of it home(there were 2 of us). They have all you can eat rib and rib let night too. Really wanted to try the pecan pie but was too full. Maybe next time. Very friendly service!!!

I’m from Nashville, Tn. Was really craving some good olé BBQ. Was pretty disappointed with this place. Went w/some friends on a Sat night around 8:30. Pretty much only ones there. Staff was great tho, very friendly and attentive. But the meats(BBQ chicken, pulled pork and beef brisket) were on the dry side. And the BBQ sauce was not good at all. Nothing like the BBQ sauce in Memphis. The soups were great tho, I would recommend the spicy tomato chicken or corn and sausage. Am sorry to give it a bad review because everyone was so nice. But food was just not that good.

We’ve been to other Memphis Blues locations and had their BBQ at catered events but this was our first visit to this location. On a very busy Friday night they were very happy to take a reservation and when we arrived a few minutes early were seated at a table that seemed to be waiting for us by a very cheerful server. I could have done without the multiple TVs with various sports playing but they weren’t intrusive. Our order arrived very quickly and was as advertised… hot and yummy! I had the brisket and sausage combo and the brisket was as good as any I’ve had in Texas and the sausage was also exceptionally tasty. The sauce was molasses-heavy and very tangy. There was an alternate jalapeño laced choice available on the table. Also ordered was the pulled pork(declared yummy) a generous portion on a bun, the half BBQ chicken(also evaporated very quickly) and the full rack of ribs. The ribs were sampled and were done to a turn but lacked sauce… though lots was provided for dipping. The portion was so generous that even with some liberal sharing five large ribs still rode home in a ‘doggy box.‘ All the staff were accommodating and the experience was very pleasant… will go back!

Likes: the cook, the barbecue, the meat Dislikes: server’s service, too«lit-up» ambiance, the portion Went here on a Monday night in April 2013, and they had an «all you can eat ribs» special. Yet, that’s not what we came here for. Just stumbled upon it as we were around the area, and head from a few social media peeps that it’s good to try. Ambiance: They were playing the Canucks game when we arrived, and 75% of the restaurant was occupied. I was expecting the restaurant to have dimmed lighting so you can devour the meat in secrecy. The kitchen was in plain sight as well, so you can see your meal prepared. Food: We had all the non-pork, except for the pulled pork(I went with a Muslim). Had the catfish, beef brisket, and barbecue chicken. The sauce was what made each bite worth savouring, which my boyfriend mentioned to have had a lot of tamarind in it. The portions were good, but I was expecting a plateful. They serve the meat with coleslaw, cornbread, pork and beans, and a side of either potato salad or fries. Service: Terrible! The female server here seemed new and irritated. I was wondering why the iced tea tasted stale, and she said she didn’t know because«I don’t know how their iced tea tastes like.» She seemed offended that I found the iced tea stale. Then, she came back with a lemonade instead, and defending herself that the iced tea she brought me was not stale, but that they make their iced tea unsweetened and as a matter of fact, she«told [me] that there are sweeteners over there [pointed at the area by the washroom].» I told her, «I didn’t know you served unsweetened iced tea. I wish I was informed before you served it to me, because in Canada, I almost always get sweetened iced tea,(like Nestea).» She was like«That’s okay,» in a very condescending voice. No, it’s not okay. It’s not MY fault or my «offense» that you should be «okay» with it. How was I supposed to know? She could have easily told me that it is unsweetened. Period. But her tone was so condescending as if I should’ve known, duh, how dare I question the iced tea?! The rest of the night, she was talking to me as if I didn’t understand English, and was condescending(again) and enunciating her syllables. Wtf? I avoided her eyes and just wanted her to stop herself from embarrassing herself even further. It’s not the customers’ fault if they don’t know what you serve there… I simply asked a question. The cashier/cook however, was a different story. He was so pleasant and welcoming to us. Why didn’t we get him instead?! Value: 2 choices of meat were $ 22 each. I wish that the portion was bigger; it was a handful of meat. Verdict: I would try the meat it again, but the server left a really unpleasant taste in my mouth. Do I recommend it? Perhaps a different location. Or ask for the cook to talk to you. The meat was tasteful enough.

Atmosphere is cool and fits the type of food. Staff were really nice and helpful. We had the BBQ chicken and the pulled pork salad. Meat was tasty but not mind blowing. Portions were okay, but I thought the extras(beans and slaw) could have been bigger given that they are kind of «fillers». It was fairly pricey for two means being about $ 35 with no drinks. Overall it wasn’t bad but we probably won’t go back.

Every now and then I crave BBQ. I’ve been to Memphis blues a couple times and have had mixed feelings during each visit. The pulled pork is great both in a sandwich(sm. $ 8.25 lg. $ 9.25 or on it’s own. Orders are done fast food style at the counter. Pay before you eat. Servers will bring the dishes to your table when ready. The service gets a low rating above since they don’t do very much for you. The platters seemed like a good value for sharing. The Memphis feast is $ 43.95. Two people could have left-overs from it. This plate is best suited for three, if you add an appetizer. Here’s my breakdown on the contents: Pulled pork– Great! Very tasty sauce Chicken– Good seasoning but really dry Ribs– Very dry and chewy Rib ends– Fatty and delicious Brisket– Good flavour but seemed like it was sitting after cut. Felt like is WAS juicy Coleslaw– Tastes fresh and is a nice break from all the BBQ sauce Fries– Among the best fries I’ve ever had. Could be the best thing on this plate… which both concern and praise.

I am not a real an of southern(southeastern) BBQ that is, I prefer Texas type… but this place is alright good. We got the Elvis Feast(A sample of all their meats, besides the catfish and oysters…) Smoked sausage = kind of plain and chewy Ribs = Tender but I have had better(much better) All in all good … This location was much better than the one in Kelowna.

BBQ is a tricky meal. Get it wrong and it’s nothing more than a saucy chunk of meat. Get it right and the smokey, sweet and spicy flavours explode off the plate. Memphis does it so well. The brisket is the absolute best. So moist it is literally falling apart, and the slow-cook charring on it is worth fighting over. Ribs and sausage are great, and we’re always getting the catfish(with a horseradish style sauce on the side, mmmm…). The fries are given a little twist with some sort of spice. On holidays they smoke and serve turkey(either whole or as part of a meal), and this past weekend we finally had a chance to try it. It was unbelievable!!! This was some of the most flavourful and moist turkey I’ve ever had. I think it’s an applewood they use for smoking, and it gives the meat a smooth, deep flavour. Wow!

Memphis Blues has AWESOME beef brisket! It’s juicy, mouth watering, and flavorful! Unlike their beans, which are only ‘just okay’(too sweet and too sour — they could also use more meat pieces), and not worth travelling across town for, the beef brisket is worth the trip. You place your food order at the front counter, and when the food’s ready they bring it to your table. Not much else to say, as I’ve only been there twice, but I expect to return at some point in the future for another helping of the beef & greens. Lastly, I think the food is a bit over priced. But they probably pay high rent there; Greater Vancouver seems to be an expensive place to operate a business, from what I’ve heard. Even so, I think the prices are too high here. With slightly lower prices and a better bean recipe, I’d give Memphis Blues four stars. But for now I can’t go higher than three. Why is it that one has to travel to the USA to get good baked beans? It seems that here in Canada, even the restaurants that are noted for great beans only manage to make beans that are ‘just okay’.

I have never had BBQ in Canada. I have had quite a lot in my exploits to the southern United States. There staff are friendly. They have live music on the weekends. They also make a mean pitcher of sangria. Their location is small as previous mentioned by another reviewer, however they aren’t exclusive but they do accept reservations for larger groups. In fact they were able to accommodate a group of nine when I was there. I ordered the BBQ half-rack of pork rib. It was delicious. Their french fries were also amazing. They weren’t greasy and they had some sort of herb. I think it was chives but it was tasty. The ribs were fabulous. I would totally recommend going to this place. I plan on hitting up the other locations in the Lower Mainland to see if they still have the high quality deliciosness with every bite. :) Oh, and their pecan pie. Need I say more?

I went to this new location for Memphis Blues BBQ a couple nights ago and it was my first time eating at any of their locations. I thought the food was pretty good, it is not the best bbq I have had but was good and the price is reasonable, place is clean, people are friendly. This location is small both inside and out, but, they do offer take out too, and for me, the location is very convenient.
