I ate here once because of mobile bandit. was a offer for cheap pancakes in the morning. I normally don’t review a place from one visit. But I don’t see myself returning soon(nothing bad about the place it’s just not in walking distance to me and parking sucks). The pancakes was the best pancakes I have ever had. what I could see of other people’s plates I think it’s safe to say the food is good here. It’s a small dinner style place and a interesting tidbit it is a heritage building for Surrey. It’s been a dinner and in that location for over 65 – 70 years. Price is very affordable and the atmosphere is good. They have regulars that eat there every day and if you went every day I’d imaging you would become part of the social circle in no time. Biggest complaint is parking. It sucks. There is space behind it but it’s full. And sketchy behind the restaurant. It’s not the best area of town.

Cabbage rolls, perogies and sausages oh my! I’ve driven by this restaurant so many times. I’ve admired the sign. Enjoyed the mirror. And today… I tasted the first of what will probably be many meals. Very enjoyable. Very tasty. It’s a must!

Where else can you get a half eggs benny and a cabbage roll for breakfast? Food is perfectly dineresque, service is quick, coffee is always refilled… what more do you need? To the people saying it’s a bit pricey — I find the prices to be right on par with any other breakfast/lunch place but the food is better because it’s clearly homemade. Ignore the less than stellar location and you won’t be disappointed.

Used to go to the round up all the time growing up. Staff and service is awesome and the food is quite good. I always go back once in a while when I’m in the neighbourhood. Everything there is usually pretty decent and the riff raff generally stays outside so do t worry too much about that.

Round-Up Café is a charming 50s style café, which has been around for a long time. It definitely stands out in Surrey. The staff was super friendly and timely. The restaurant itself was clean and tidy with a lot of elderly folks chatting with a cup of coffee. My colleague and I ordered their daily breakfast. It took about 15 minutes to arrive. I don’t care that it took a little bit longer for eggs and pirogies. I just wanted really good food for the price we were paying. When our food arrived, we immediately realized something strange. Our plates were drenched in cooking oil. Our toast tasted like we were biting into butter, the pirogies had oil on top and bottom, and our eggs were almost unbearably greasy. The food didn’t taste bad, but the grease was just too much. I will definitely go back but ask them to make sure they don’t dump our food in oil before bringing it to our table.

Realizing Round-Ups a Rousing Retro Real Eatery As I walk through the valley of the shadow of death I take a look at my life And realize there’s nothin’ left (As I made my way down through Whalley to get to the Round-Up Café, I felt okay knowing my bank account was nearing depletion, as the Girlfriend said she’d pay [I know! How did I manage that?!]) ‘Cause I’ve been blastin’ and laughin’ so long that, Even my mama thinks that my mind is gone (Well, with that being said, the place is your typical greasy spoon, so it’s pretty cheap and has some good homemade type grub) READMOREAT

This is a charming, old time, original café in a rather rough neighbourhood. Our food was very tasty and the service was friendly. It seems to me tho that the prices were rather high. It is such a cool, historic little spot — I think if the prices were about 20% cheaper overall, the place would likely have more of a draw. The price prevents me from giving a higher rating.

Breakfast is my favourite meal, and yet it is usually my most disappointing. Eggs, toast, bacon, potatoes… Over and over again. That’s why I love this place; Ukraine sausage and perogies change up this normally repetitive first meal of the day. It’s cheap, fast, friendly and they’re quick on the coffee refills.

This place is great. Was working on a Saturday and our boss took us all out. I looked up this place on Unilocal and we decided to go here. We were all satisfied and glad we made a great choice. I recommend this place if you’re looking for a good ol’ fashioned breakfast.

a good place to try Ukrainian dishes and the staff are so friendly and nice. neat atmosphere, and a nice look at Surrey’s past. the place should be designated a historical spot. a cool place to visit However, i would have went from 3 stars to 4,(if not even 4 ½) but the price for two normal breakfasts was well over 30+ after tip. they need to lower their prices across the board as i went there for lunch and dinner and found the prices a little too steep for this kind of food and location. i wish the owners and the great staff continued success and i will return again but i will be monitoring the menu closely as the prices are not what they should be for most of the items.

Round-Up Café is a small little diner/hole in the wall in Surrey. To set the mood for you, when we parked our car, I was immediately asked for money by a man carrying a beat up Coors Lite backpack and there was a woman crouching down /shooting up beside the restaurant. The staff and owner of the café were very friendly. They apologized for what happened and I told them not to. It’s not in any way their fault. The whole time we were there, they tried to make our meal enjoyable and checked on us twice. The food itself wasn’t bad, I expected the prices to be a tiny bit lower. I can’t remember the dish I ordered, but it came with 6 perogies, about 7 slices of sausage and 2 cabbage rolls.(Half order also available, but I was hungry as usual) The perogies tasted quite average and I didn’t want to finish them. The sausage wasn’t anything special. Now the cabbage rolls were delicious. The cabbage and rice still retained its texture and wasn’t overcooked. There were a good amount of meat inside and the sauce brought everything together. Next time, I may get cabbage rolls for take out.

What’s this? A cute little café I found in an oasis in Whalley. Super-friendly server and patrons. Rockstar parking out front. No review from hole-in-the-wall Marc D. My curiosity was piqued. Ordered: 6 perogies; half potato/half cottage cheese. The cottage cheese turned out to be half potato. If you’ve never had dry curd cottage cheese perogies, you’ve never had a real Polish/Ukrainian perogy. Personally, I’ve never found one in BC. Even when fried in butter and onions, they were just okay. Unfortunately, they did not taste homemade. The other half were potato/cheddar. Now, if you are ever lucky enough to go to Poland, there is no such thing as a cheddar cheese perogy! They look about as weird as kd would look to someone who wasn’t raised in all its florescence. Just okay. And no bacon? That’s like an American having fries without ketchup, a Canadian without our namesake white vinegar; a Brit without malt vinegar. You get the idea. Polish Sausage-fine, but quite a small portion, thinly sliced. I had to ask for mustard and was surprised it was served in a paper dixie cup. Cabbage rolls-big and a bit bland. Just average but tasty enough to eat. Dessert: Lemon meringue. Crust and lemon were good and not too thick. Meringue tasted old but with a large«head.» But I’m no aficionado. Matthew D.‘s damn thread made me do it. Delicious coffee. A bit spendy at $ 25 for one hearty meal. Overall, the service was a five. The atmosphere was a five. The place was as cute as can be. I even got a glimpse of the 83 year old Ukrainian grandma who looked no more than 72. Impressive. A fine place to try if you happen to be in the area, but if you had a grandma like mine, your experience might be bittersweet. If you weren’t as fortunate as I had been, than give it a go. If I had known how special her recipes and 67 years of experience had been, I would have tried so much harder to attempt her craft. For now, I’ll continue my quest for something that comes close. 3.5 stars.

Best.Diner.Breakfast. You would never think to find a gem like this in such a crappy part of Surrey. But the Round up has been making bitchin’ breakfast since the 50’s. Tiny little place maybe 12 tables, but they turn them quick. I alays get a side of Ukranium sausage with every omlette. It’s amazing. My go to breakfast spot in Surrey.

First of all… I wanted to give this place 3.5 stars as 3 wasn’t generous enough and 4 felt like too much. however they get 4. saw this place on Unilocal and had a good star rating so my partner and i decided to try it as it in our neighbourhood. The ambiance around the diner seems very clean and welcoming. the staff was rather welcoming as well. Although, I have to say the waitress(only 1 on staff) seemed very overwhelmed with the amount of people she had to serve. There was also 2 girls wiping down tables and cleaning up but not taking orders this, to me, seems like they could have as the 1 waitress was very rushed and overwhelmed. In other words. don’t go to this place if your looking to be in an out in under an hour. Service is mediocre at best, but the staff is very friendly and delightful. Lets get to the reason I gave this place… the food. It was excellent breakfast. I ordered the french toast slam and it was cooked perfectly, the toast was good with an array of condiment selections. Eggs were done well, but not perfect but its nothing to get in a tizzy over. Also, I ordered bacon instead of ham & sausage and it didn’t taste well(tasted old and past its best) and I wanted it cooked crispy which it wasn’t. This was the only problem I had with them. I didn’t really care for sending it back as I was more excited about the actual french toast. My partner ordered eggs benny with a side of mushrooms and he was quite happy. He did say he found a smokey background taste but again nothing to get in a tizzy over. Overall, this place is great for atmosphere and the food is decent. The price isn’t the greatest but its not the worst I’ve seen, especially for Vancouver area. Ive been to much worse places with higher prices. Go to this place if your in the area.

50s Style Diner in Surrey I happened to pass this cute place omw to Safeway. I did some shopping then headed back to try it out. I’m glad I did, because it’s a locals-only gem in the neighborhood. I read all the reviews praising the«Slider» so I gave it a try. It was pretty solid; two tangy cabbage rolls, fried Ukrainian sausage and a half dozen pan fried perogies. They have an open-look kitchen so you can see them make it to order. I was happy that they didn’t overcook the perogies. Everything in that dish is homemade, and it’s great to see a family-owned diner surviving. They have a lot of interesting things on the menu. I’d categorize it as an Eastern European dinner with American 1950’s flair. The customer service is good, and they even have a pie rack! I’d recommend it to others.

Very tasty, the price is a bit high, but overall very good. I got the«Slider» namely for the pan fried perogies, but was actually more impressed by the cabbage rolls. Big, filling, full of hamburger and rice, covered in a tangy tomato sauce. They were great. The sausage and perogies were also quite good too. Left full and happy. I did smack my knee on the booth table leg getting in and out, so just watch out for that.

Cabbage rolls! Delicious. The prices were a bit high but the food was pretty good. We ordered a half order of the slider($ 7), eggs benny($ 11) and a bowl of borscht($ 6) and it was $ 30 after taxes but before tip. If you can get there before 11am, they have a breakfast special for $ 7 which I think I’ll try next time but you can’t go wrong with the Ukrainian food. It’s hearty.

I was savagely hungry this morning, which really bled into the lunch hour, so I stopped by Round-Up and was not disappointed. I got the«Slider» which has two cabbage rolls, ukranian sausage and half dozen pan fried perogies. When it came out I was underwhelmed by the portion, but by the time I was done(about 5 minutes) I was full. It was VERY tasty, the service was great during a busy time, and next time I will be getting a breakfast dish. For a non-descript place in Surrey, it’s easy to park on King George right in front of the restaurant, it’s clean inside, and the price is fair. I will definitely RETURN!

I’m glad we finally ventured into the Round-Up Café. This place is a diamond in the rough — the rough being Whalley. But this little diner on King George Highway is cute and cool and clean, with it’s speckled vinyl booths and central lunch counter and walls adorned with baseball memorabilia, including pictures of the Little League teams the restaurant sponsors. Service was fast and friendly, and the food was great. I tried one of the Ukrainainan plates(cabbage rolls, sausage, and perogies) while my husband had that diner classic, Reuben with fries. His sandwich dripped with sauerkraut, and the fries were crispy and perfect with vinegar. My cabbage roll was just like I remembered it — slightly sweet, with a tang of tomato sauce. You can always tell the real diners from the retro-wannabes, I’ve noticed, by the presence of a particular nationality’s cuisine on the menu, be it Ukrainian, Greek, or even Chinese. This place is of the real old school — around since 1949, and with the same family owning it since 1959. Obviously, they know what they’re doing.
