A friend of mine had to alter the sleeves on a blazer. This had to be done at the shoulders, so it was relatively complicated. He was very satisfied with the work and recommended that I go to Julia. So, when I wanted to have a suit tailored I asked for Julia. She inspected my suit, listened to my requests, and gave feedback on what she could do. It took about 1 week. Good idea to call before to see if it’s ready, as they can be quite busy. The work was solid, and the new suit fits me very well. I’m sure the price is a slightly higher than other tailors, but this was quality work.

Solid place. These gals have a lot of experience and know what they’re doing. My boyfriend gets a lot of work done here and they had messed up on a large order and they redid it for free… when he called I heard the head seamstress sigh loudly when we brought up the error we had noticed and then she cheerily said they would fix it. I have a feeling she passed on a simple job to one of the less senior seamstresses and she screwed it up. I think someone probably got yelled at. Anyways, these ladies are solid and fast and easy to explain things to despite a bit of a language barrier with some of them. They really«get it» and are very reasonable in price and the quality of their work is awesome. I’m a seamstress myself dealing with vintage clothing mainly and I’m impressed with their work.

Still coming back here. I find their prices fairly reasonable considering that I do not know how to sew or repair anything. To remove pockets in pants, it’s about $ 25 — $ 35 To hem pants about $ 25. To do slightly more custom work about $ 50(e.g. adding length to sleeves or adjusting things) To add straps about $ 25. These are all reasonable prices to me. They’re not dirt cheap at $ 10 — $ 15 but I can see that these ladies have been working there for a long time and a lot of rich folk seem to waltz in with very nice designer things(and wedding gowns!) to get them tailored.

BEWAREBRIDES! Horrible alterations experience. Took my wedding dress here for alterations with 7 weeks before my wedding. Julia talks a big talk, but produces very little; on 2 occasions she cancelled on me without calling(she waited till I drove 1 hour through rush hour traffic, with my mother and bridesmaids). And 3 other times(I swear to God) I arrived for my appointment to try on the«finished“dress and she wasn’t even there — she forgot(and the dress was in it’s unaltered state still)! THREEDAYS before my wedding, the dress was no where near ready. It was a humiliating experience to be turned away and forgotten so many times and even more so when she forced me to try on the poorly altered(and unfinished) dress one last time in a manipulative plea to have me leave it with her so she could redeem herself(again, 3 days to go). In tears, I offered to pay her just so she would give me my dress back and she refused saying that she wouldn’t accept payment since she didn’t finish the job — I got my dress back. The next alterations place was a dream! They had to re-open all of the seams because the way Julia had altered it, I could not sit down without splitting the dress, it was uncomfortable and looked terrible. FInally I was having a positive experience with my dress! Until Julia struck again. She found out where I brought my dress from one of my bridesmaids who went to pick up her dress(also in need of a ‘double’ alteration, it didn’t fit). Julia called my new alterations place and had the nerve to tell them that I hadn’t paid her! In short, I paid Julia $ 200 for wasting my time, my gas, and for a stressful and negative wedding experience — but mostly so I could write this review and not feel that I’m being unreasonable. Worst experience ever. Dirty store, rude women, poor time management and horrendous alterations.

The name, I know, totally sucks … but after google’ing for an hour, i needed a good seamstress. QUICKLY! My best friends’ wedding was a week away, and I had JUST realized my dress(she had purchased for me on sale at Winner’s) was about 13494309284 times TOOSMALL! How the heck do you make a sun dress bigger?! Well, the ladies at As You Like It, made it happen. As I stood in the change room, tears running down my face, they made me feel confident that they’d fix this huge(or should i say, too small!) error — although I’m not a size 6(as the dress was!), they’d make it fit, and the bride wouldn’t know the chaos I had endeavored a week before leaving for her Cuba based wedding! It cost me a fortune, but it was worth every cent. My dress was ready when they said it would be, and they saved the day!
