Axe and Hatchet

Got my hair cut with Dante today. He’s extremely knowledgeable and gave genuine advice as to what he thought would look best. Previous barbers haven’t really done such a sharp cut on me and don’t do everything right. Dante did. However, that being said, it is on the pricier side ($ 50). Excellent cut, especially if you can afford it or if you’re going to an event soon.

I love the atmosphere of. This salon. It’s very relaxing not rush, my hair cut turn out great but a little pricy.

I was in town on business and found this place on Unilocal.Unfortunately I live in Florida as this place is great! Everything from the atmosphere to the level of service is top notch. It is a very popular spot with the locals as well and Dante (owner) went above and beyond to get me in. They do have an online appointment system but also accept walk-​ins if there is availability. Dante was my barber and gave me one of the best haircuts I’ve received and also shaped my beard to fit my face perfectly. If I am in Toronto again I will make it a point to go back.

In town for business, I relied on Unilocal reviews to find a barber as I’m very picky. I was not led astray by the ratings here. Vanessa did a terrific job on my beard, the whole experience was pleasant and efficient. Definitely recommended and I will go back when I’m next in Toronto.

I am what you would call a perfectionist so for me, finding a barber is as hard as finding a doctor. That said, I did a bunch of research ahead of time and landed at Axe and Hatchet and truly I could not be happier.
I’ve been to salons all over the city throughout the years and Axe and Hatchet is, (as Dante the owner) referred to it, a ‘hybrid’. Its like he took a really chill café, crossed it with an old school barbershop and added a twist of modern salon. Basically its a non-​pretentious (rare) place to go and get a cut, beard trim, touch up and a few other things done. The idea is simple but executing a simple idea well is much harder than doing something complex and having it turn out with the same level of quality. Booked the appointment online, confirmed it online, got a text the day before to remind me of the appointment (like I needed it, was looking forward to it all week), showed up early and had my hair cut and beard trimmed by Dante. In and out in 45 minutes, like the stylist next to me said ‘…looking like a new man.‘
There is really not much more I can say to convince you how good this place is. I can tell you this, I will be back in three weeks for my complimentary touch up and three weeks after that for another appointment because as far as I’m concerned Axe and Hatchet is the best in the city.

Recently started going to Axe and Hatchet on the recommendation of a friend whose hair is ALWAYS perfect. I’ve been twice so far and I couldn’t be happier.
My First Cut:
After getting a pretty mediocre cut earlier in the week at another popular men’s barbershop, I was fortunate to score a same day appointment with Dante (the owner) thanks to a last minute cancellation. When I arrived, he sat me in his chair and we chatted about my cut, what wasn’t working, why it wasn’t working and where he wanted to take it. Despite having pretty short hair to begin with, he managed to reshape my cut to better suit my face and I left feeling great about the cut and overall experience.
Second Cut:
My second cut was today and I love it. Can’t say enough good things about the guy and his team. He did a great job on my hair as did the two other stylists on their clients. Everyone left looking great!
You can’t go wrong at Axe and Hatchet. These guys know what they’re doing and love doing it.

Martin is the man. I’ve been going to him for awhile now. So when I heard he left where I was going, I tracked him down. Lo and behold, he landed at Axe & Hatchet, a cool new barber shop in yorkville. I’d highly recommend him. His attention to detail and eye for style is top notch. He’s a pro.

Got there was greeted by Yael and the owner Dante! They were really awesome people. Yael gave me my cut and it is so good. She took her time and made sure it was perfect. She is definitely one of those people that obsesses over perfection, which is great for me cause my hair turned out amazing. I was going back to work afterwards so she gave my hair a wash AFTER the cut too!
Great service, I felt welcomed and its a very cool spot. Will always go here, specifically to Yael.

Dante, the owner of Axe & Hatchet has been my go to guy for the last year or so when my hair needed a cut, and now he just opened his own Salon and barber shop in the heart of Yorkville!
His new place is amazing, great décor and atmosphere, and great colleagues too.
For anyone who needs a professional and hip hair dresser or barber in Toronto, Dante and his crew are absolutely recomendable!
