All the hats I own(somewhere around 15 perhaps) that were not purchased outside of Toronto, or were not passed down to me from older generations, have been made by and purchased from Louis at Hat Depot. Louis, a greek man in his 60s perhaps, quietly stands with a watchful eye when a customer comes in. He’s got salt and pepper hair with an accompanying moustache and rugged yellow stained fingers. A lifetime full of habits. Some good, some bad. He(as per an article which hangs up in his store) learned the art of millinery starting at the age of 14.(I bet he’s been smoking for longer). Anyhow, he has a vast array of hats. He has brand names such as Kangol. He has many hats that are marked by his own label bearing the store’s name. He has very modern styles to much older styles(which have themselves become popular again these days — many variations of the fedora and newspaper boy hats.). He’s got indiana jones hats. crocodile dundee hats. rastafarian hats. jimmy cagney hats. roger clemens hats. it goes on forever, and in many colours too. the price ranges from quite cheap, say 15 bucks to over a hundred but you always feel like you are getting great quality workmanship and style. i went in there today, JUSTTOTAKEPICTURESANDFOR A LOOK-SEE, i said to my wife, and of course, i blew 40 bucks on another hat… couldnt help it… havent bought a hat in a year… it was the last one left. it fit my gargantuan head… i look good in brown…(give me the time, and i’ll give you the justifications.)…
