Over the years, the quality and cut of the clothing at Jacob has really declined. Or, maybe, I’m getting older and more sophisticated?!! I still visit the store, reminiscing the golden years of my live, when I was a twenty-somthing young woman browsing through the merchandise, rack after rack… But, that’s about the only reason I visit Jacob these days. Have not been able to find anything that would justify the price point in years. Lately, it is reminding me of Fairweather, doesn’t it?

So this location is closing down and they were having a 40%-60% off sale, therefore I decided to drop in. TBH, I think they had the shut down coming. I used to LOVE this store in high school. It would be the most exciting thing in the world when my mom got me clothes from here. So classy, great quality, lovely basics, fashion forward whilst being classic. But the past few years, Jacob has lost their vision. The quality of the fabrics and stitching has declined while the price point has not. Nowadays, I could just as easily buy a similar piece from Forever 21 or H&M for a fraction of the cost. I’m sad to see them go for nostalgia reasons. But I can’t say I didn’t see it coming.

I really like Jacob, particularly this location. This store is massive so I feel like they have a lot of inventory(especially the sale section). The people here are very friendly and helpful. There are always sales so I find their clothes quite affordable and stylish. I would probably say that majority of my clothes are from Jacob and I will probably continue to shop here till the end of time!

I love the clothes in this store, and always find something I want to buy every time I walk in. Clothes are priced reasonably and really good quality. I think I could probably just about live in Jacob clothes — they have everything from work attire to casual, to underwear. Whatever you want, they’ve got it. The only problem I find is the service. From being asked a billion times if I need help(mildly annoying), to asking for something in a size small and having suggested that perhaps I should try the large(massively insulting). However I will continue to shop here because the clothes are soooo fab!

If it’s one store the US doesn’t have it’s a Jacob store. And for those looking for the basics and classics, this is the store to go to. That said, like many stores recently I feel like the quality has dropped. VIBE This location in particular is pretty stark white. Their front section is good. If you go downstairs, it’s where you’ll find lingerie and sale items in addition to sportier wear and more changing rooms. Staff are pretty hands off but friendly. THEGOODS Their front section is usually where the best stuff is. I find better stuff on the upper floor than bottom. I quite like the Eaton Centre location(didn’t see a listing for them). They renovated a year or two ago and their lingerie section is quite good(lower level). I’ve also picked up some nifty costume jewelry from them. If you’re looking for work gear, this is the place to come. I especially like Jacob for its shirts. Affordable coats/jackets are also good buys here. OBLIGATORYCATCHYREMARK it’s quite refreshing to say we have something that the US doesn’t. Na na na na! Note: the Yorkdale and Eaton Centre locations are quite good. The First Canadian Place location has some pretty good sale items if you can get down there during the day.

I love this store so much. If I had to pick one place to buy all of my clothes for the rest of my life, it would be Jacob. This Jacob is especially great because it’s huge — the upstairs is dedicated to dressy, work clothing(pants, skirts, dresses, shirts, jackets, etc) and slightly more business casual dress wear, where the downstairs is more street-type casual clothing, like a wide range of jeans, t-shirts, hoodies, etc. Jacob, in my mind, is like a less expensive Banana Republic. The clothes are well made with good materials and in modern cuts. The also have some really great jeans, and I personally have a hard time going in here without buying something. The clothes are also really well priced considering the quality and though it might not have that Banana Republic brand power, you probably couldn’t tell if you were wearing the clothes. For anyone visiting Canada, I highly recommend dropping some cash in this store — I swear you won’t regret it!
