Hi, Bite. You might want to ensure you have a working phone number so possible patrons can get a quick response to their inquiries rather than have to wait on an email. You also might want to check on the closing times of your kitchen, so that the next time you give someone the go-ahead to treck all the way down there, they don’t have to wait 10 mins to be told they could’ve just picked a seat anywhere(rather than wait on a hostess), another 10 mins just to get a menu and then another 2 mins to have the waitress go to the kitchen, come back and tell them at 9:39pm that it is closed when according to your email correspondence 20MINSPRIOR they were told the kitchen closes at midnight. Oh and also, update your fucking website with CURRENTEVENTINFORMATION. Other than that, great job!

I’ve only been to Bite, the bottom food-serving level of Moskito Bite. Formerly Plaza Flamingo, this huge two floor building with great potential has finally, I think, developed into something College and Bathurst needs. Moskito is a club/lounge while Bite is a resto/lounge and music venue. Bite always has something unique and different happening every weekend. They really range, so I suggest going with an open mind and no expectations. Beer is $ 15 a gallon jug, food is divided into«bites» which are smaller appetizers for $ 5 or less. «bowls» are entrée sized dishes which are still affordable. It’s a large venue, with booth seating, large group banquet style tables, Oktoberfest picnic tables and couples smaller tables. The bar is large and spacious as well. With a dark ambiance, wooden floors and a no fuss no must environment, it’s a really relaxing, casual place to visit. Interesting though, Bite is never crowded. It’s absolutely empty on the weekdays, and semi-busy on the weekends. Pro or con, it means you have your choice of seating and fast in-hand beers whenever you pop-in. The unique performances make this place interesting and really fun. live bands, Djs, Art performances and jazz, it really caters to anyone up for new experiences and a Bite of NYC.

3.5* Moskito is a relatively new club that’s opened in place of the old pink flamingo. I’ve managed to catch a few shows there recently as well as during its soft opening days! On the positive side, Moskito has been bringing in some underground heavyweights of the electronic scene. Catching the Detroit or Philly sound in the warehouse like space upstairs could be somewhat of an experience. Additionally I actually like the design, both in terms of the spaciousness and also the cool artwork on the walls(though the latter does lose its charm by the fifth visit). What’s kind of neat also is the maintenance of somewhat of a gatrobar downstairs, that has the capacity to make more sophisticated drinks and serves up some potentially decent chow. This could be a pretty unique experience if you need a break from the hardcore party scene upstairs! What I didn’t love so much about Moskito is the fact that they charge a good bit of $$ for some of their shows, and this is something I’d look into before heading over on a random night. Additionally the crowd is a bit eclectic at times, but that is more or less expected with the scene! Finally I would also have a few more bouncers on the second floor in case things get ugly, the space is big enough to invite trouble every now and then. Overall a relatively fresh and welcomed addition to TO clubs, hopefully it’s here to stay for a while.

My agency had our award’s dinner here a couple of weeks ago. It’s taken me ages to find the place online because of the spelling of the name! ha! We had a set menu which I do not believe the food is part of their regular menu. It was good food from app to dinner to dessert. They invited us to stay on for the DJ upstairs and there was a band to play afterwards as well. The bathrooms need a serious makeover and some heat!

I went here again for Sebastian Leger and Heartik. They really have to fix the washroom problem!!! There were five stalls in the women’s washroom. Three were out of service. The remaining two didn’t lock. NOTCOOL! This automatically deducts a couple stars. Seriously, if they improved the washrooms, it would be a 4 star! Taps — there were three in the women’s washroom. Two didn’t turn on and one didn’t turn off. What’s the point??? The entrance is hard to find. But at least this time was better than the«back alley entrance» from the Halloween party. Pros: lots of space. Good DJs. Lots of room for dancing. Good sound. Cons: besides the washroom and hard to find entrance(those are main factors), there isn’t much space to sit if you need to rest in between DJs. younger crowd(this can be a pro or con, I suppose, it’s early twenties), poor layout, lots of drunk people(although when 2:15 comes around, I start enjoying this place a LOT more!) Would be back for REALLY good DJs but that’s about it.

Note, I have only been here for the nightclub, not the restaurant. This place has a lot of potential. The upstairs is well decorated, and has a sound system(Alpha Dynacord) that packs quite a punch. The sound system does need some tweaking, but with a little work, this could be the best sounding night club in Toronto. The downstairs is also very well decorated(with the huge exception of the washrooms — more on that later), with great lighting. It looks great and inviting from College Street. I also like the idea of two large rooms, making a night more interesting with 2 different kinds of music playing on each floor(this has worked well the couple of times I’ve been there so far). I’m not sure what happened with the bathroom situation on the bottom floor(maybe the ran out of money during the renos?), but wow are the downstairs men’s washrooms bad. They were kept quite clean, but they kind of reminded me of what a bathroom would look like in a run-down train station on the Rust Belt. Considering how nice the rest of the place looks, these bathrooms should be redone ASAP! The acts they’ve booked here since their opening(Robert Hood, LE1 °F, Mark Farina, Josh Wink, Art Department, etc) are A+. There aren’t many other night clubs that have consistent booking quality like this place(although they haven’t been open for that long). The draught beer selection is quite good for a nightclub(was surprised to see Sapporo). I also was impressed with how friendly(and quite frankly, how attractive) the staff at this place was. For any lovers of quality music, and anyone who needs to lose their minds and dance the night away, Moskito is the club for you. In my opinion, this is the best night club that’s opened in Toronto in recent memory.

Ventured by on a Tuesday night for dinner around 7:30−8PM; business was slow(i.e. only one table occupied) and the chalkboard menu was a little vague but the big windows lured us in. The interior was awesome & so chill — hardwood floors; tealight candles on the reclaimed wood tables; and Christmas lights strung up in the window. Only when we got in did we realize how massive the space was & that there was also a stage set up. The stage lit in red suggested cabaret, yet alternative Christmas covers were blaring –the entire night I was confused at how to classify the space, but ended up really enjoying it regardless. Their«Bites» included a pretty diverse selection of sliders @ ~$ 2.75 each. My friend got a pulled pork with slaw & I had the shrimp with avocado. Cute food, love it. Buns could’ve used a quick toast, but not bad. Of their«Bowls», my friend ordered a Mac & Cheese which had a surprising yet nice spicy kick; and I the Mussels with a basil broth, which came with two slices of garlic bread. Mussels were cooked excellently, although the broth felt pretty heavy on the salt near the end. Beers on tap were limited @ Canadian, PBR, Steigl, and Blanche de Chambly. The latter being a new found Quebec beer that just might be my new fav! Awesome atmosphere to catch up with a friend on a weeknight but I definitely wouldn’t mind returning for an event night.
