By referral from my sister, I made an appointment last week at Prestige Salon & Spa on St. Clair Ave., in Toronto. I asked for a regular facial. but was convinced(by the girl on the phone) to do an Oxygena«as seen on TV» treatment instead. $ 150. I laid in a room where this woman rubbed products on my face for about 30 – 40 minutes with a vibrating device. My skin broke out over the next few days afterwards and my skin texture seemed to worsen. I had to give them another chance as perhaps my skin was just sensitive. I went back for a pedicure and partial highlights to break up my ombré(caramel and brown) hair. Pedicure: The girl was nice(had a bit of a language barrier). but, the work station was visibly dirty. I was motioned to sit on a used towel and their was somebody else’s foot shavings along the sides of basin. Not sanitary! My hair? Same girl that did the pedicure! REDFLAG. but I went with it anyways. I did consult with another girl that seemed to speak English… so how bad could it be, right? I left with completely bleached out blonde ends(10 – 12 inches worth)… instead of the highlights we discussed.(Yes, I had even showed a photo and brought a swatch of the light caramel colour I like). Side note: Because I have dabbled in the hair industry, I am aware that you should NEVER leave bleach unattended as it can process very quickly… but the girl doing my hair put bleach on freehand and walked away — more then once — without saying a word to me. I was concerned and made it known at that time… But, I let her proceed with what she was doing anyhow as to not be that ‘mean, rude client’. The workers were very speaking loudly in Portuguese most of the time. they opened the door all the way. It was cold that day, I was shivering with wet hair. They also had the lights turned off. so everyone was relying on window light — which wasnt much. The owners daughter /stylist? stood at the doorway smoking cigarettes which filled the salon with smoke. I was very surprised. NO consideration for the customers. So, after some feedback from friends on my bleached out hair, I went back the next day to ask for their opinion on ways to improve it as I have an important event this weekend… I was thinking perhaps a few brown foils on the ends to tone it down or a few blonde ones on top to blend it better. I was willing to pay again, of course. But, they were not having it! The two owners got really defensive and aggressive immediately! The mother kept grinning saying«I knew you’d be back» while crossing her arms(and reminding me about her overpriced hair mask)… she then yelled out to her daughter from some back room. almost egging her on. It was shocking. The daughter proceeded to rudely blame ME saying«Its your hair that made it that colour, we did what you wanted» … so ready to combat instead of help find a solution. Bizarre. My sister, who had referred me, and was with me said«I have been in the beauty industry for over 10 years and I can’t believe the way you are talking to her like this, I need to go to wait outside» and walked out… The daughter(I think her name was Alison?) SHOUTED at her«why don’t you fix it then» and proceeded to kick ME out… «Get out of my salon» while motioning as though she was shooing out a rodent. Disgusting! Unbelievably absurd, really. I have never had such a BAD experience. HUGEMISTAKE. NEVERAGAIN. Based on personality, mostly.

Bought a groupon here despite the negative review, and I have no regrets. The service was great. However I do think the service and conversation could be improved, as it was difficult to talk to the girl servicing me due to the language barrier. Her wrist also looked like it was in pain while she was doing my nails, which did make me feel guilty! But anyways, the shellac is still on and flawless after 2 weeks(and 2 days). Overall, they honoured my Groupon, they did a good job, and the salon was clean and professional.

I went here this weekend for a shellac manicure and pedicure with a groupon. I had no issues using the groupon at all. I brought the printed groupon. Had to pay the taxes after my treatment but that was expected taxes and tip are extra. I has a pleasant manicure and pedicure. The colour I first selected was a light pink. I was told that for my toes that would look good but on the hands up close it can look streaky and was advised to use pick another colour. I liked that they would warn me about making the wrong choice. They did three coats of the shellac polish. The second polish colour I picked looks great and 5 days later still perfect. I would come here again. They have a good location, clean and sleek. Only complaint the chair you sit in at the manicure table while look nice(black and white floral pattern) not very comfortable need more stuffing I sunk in and could feel the wooden frame.

I finally found this salon’s page after erroneously leaving a negative review at one with the same name. I’ve verified the address with the Groupon voucher this time, this is the one for sure. This salon ruined my fiancée’s birthday gift by refusing to honor a Groupon deal they had which was not expired and has still not expired now. They were betting on people forgetting about their Groupons and basically stealing money from those that forgot while refusing to honor the deal for people that remembered. They are crooks and you should avoid dealing with them at all costs.
