Avoid this place, terrible atmosphere, terrible management. If you want to go to a place where there are drunk teenagers causing trouble then go. Otherwise there plenty of other bars in the area

I had a fun night here! ++ points for the drink specials being a great deal! It gets pretty hectic so it’s definitely a more self serve place. It’s gets hectic at night when they have loud music and dancing but it’s a fun scene. Kinda like a more mellow drake scene which I like. Not a good place for intimate convos but a fun night life scene.

I am only reviewing the bar/dance club. We came in here to catch the Jays game. The venue was not bad. There were several TVs, and the alcohol was very reasonably priced! $ 3.5 for a variety of shots, including Jamieson and Jägermeister. A pitcher was only $ 12. There were lots of seats even for this popular game. After the game, the narrow bar quickly turned into a dance club. The DJ gave a very nice set of Hip Hop and R&B. They showed the music videos on the TV screens, which is a nice touch. The bar tenders were more attentive than at your average dance club. Overall, this is not a bad little place.

Came here on a Friday night to drink and watch the game. Pitcher was $ 12. Shots were $ 3.50. Pretty sweet deal. Plenty of TVs. Friendly bartenders. Free WiFi. When the game was over, DJ came in and started playing the sickest beats. All of a sudden the bar turned into a club and everybody started dancing. I didn’t see that coming! You are probably expecting that distinctive sticky floors feeling due to cheap pours right? nope, the staff did a great job keeping the place tidy and clean. Continuously picking up empty glasses and cleaning up after ratchets who were dancing wildly with a drink in their hands. Overall great place. Next time I will try out their food menu.

Came here with some friends last night cause there was a huge lineup at another place. The bouncer was nice and cordial. Inside! Wow it was packed like sardines. I could not even move. Somehow I managed to get to a door way, which led to the bathrooms downstairs. Since I was down there anyway, I might as well go. Do not use the stall to pee cause the ceiling is really low. I managed to bump my head, and I am a short guy. Anyway, I made it back upstairs and I was trying to find my friends. It was pure luck that I literally bumped into them. The place was loud and the music was good. If you like hip hop, then try this place. Even though the place was busy, the barkeeps were fast and efficient. I do not know how they did it. For some reason, one tv was showing a movie on W network. I thought it was weird. The crowd is typical of the queen west area, but I must say that on that night, people were polite. I gave it 3 stars cause it was average.

I really like going there for ½ Wings on Monday night… also great house beer. It’s called Savoy and its 10 $ for pitcher.

We were a group of ten and came here for my friend’s B-day when her first option got shut down(it literally closed a few days before the event). They had $ 10 pitchers on a Sunday. Options on tap aren’t too gross either! The server recommended the wings and the pad thai. Most people went for wings. I opted for the pad thai. Probably the nastiest pad thai I have ever had. There was hardly anything in it except noodles! No flavour or anything. And this is supposed to be one of the better options on their menu. As for the wings, they were on special which seemed awesome. But almost everyone had to get second orders because the first round wasn’t filling enough. That given, I was pretty impressed with the pretty blond waitress. Seemed like she was the only bartender/server but she didn’t forget a single glass, request for extra cutlery or waters. Definitely not coming back for food. Maybe for pints if I’m in the area. But why not just head to the Gladstone? I mean, it’s right next door.

This review is based on my experience at The Savoy for«Shameless Karaōke» last Thursday. This was my first time at The Savoy. The space is long and narrow, with tables and booths and a long bar. The bartenders worked fast. I didn’t have to wait longer than two minutes for a drink, even though it was pretty busy. Also, they offer reasonably priced singles and Triples.(mixed drinks) There is a stage set up at the back for karaōke. The crowd was a mix, but twenty something hipsters dominated — typical for the Queen west area. I got there early, had a booth near the stage, sang twice and had a blast! In fact, it seemed everyone in there was having a great time too. I am a fan of «Shameless Karaōke» in general. Great song selection and a thoughtful, charismatic host. Wil,(the host) does a great job at making people feel comfortable, and dare I say special — he announced that it was one girl’s first time ever doing karaōke, which I thought was a nice touch. Why isn’t this review 5 stars? Lack of AC. I definitely recommend Thursday night«Shameless Karaōke» at The Savoy!

Cheap drinks are the name of the game here at Savoy. We usually come on a Sunday or a weeknight, and the bar is only moderately full and fairly quiet(unless there is a large group). Perfect atmosphere. On most nights, they have $ 3 shots of Jamieson and Jäger. Their house beer, Savoy, is $ 10 a pitcher, all the time. Listen, most house beers suck. Hence the price. This stuff, however, is delicious! Totally tastes better than your run-of-the-mill house lager you’d normally find. Try it! I’ve personally never eaten here, though some of my company has. A burger and a chicken wrap, if I recall correctly, both of which seemed agreeable(and again, very inexpensive). Service is good! I’ve never been in on a night where there is an actual server, it’s just been the bartender. She’ll come to your table for your order, or you can just head up to the bar if you wanna run cash & carry. Very friendly bartenders, we’ve been there often enough that most of them know us by mine. Nice touch. Two things prevent the full 4-star rating(though its oh-so-close). On a Friday or Saturday night, this place becomes a sweaty pit with a loud, amateur DJ. We tried to come on a Friday once, without really considering this possibility, and when we walked in it took about 3 seconds to make the decision to leave. Not a huge deal though, this may be what some people want on a weekend. I don’t, so I’ll be steering clear on these days. The other thing(and this might be just be my over-observance as a bartender from a customer service perspective) is that on two or three occasions, the owner has come in during a shift, stepped behind the beer, and began checking all the bottles, one by one. He has them labelled to see the levels so that he can compare to sales and ensure the bartenders aren’t stealing. Completely standard practice, don’t get me wrong. But this needs to be done AFTER the shift, not during when their are patrons sitting on the bar, watching this all happen. It almost makes you uncomfortable, and it distracts the bartender and somewhat puts her on edge. Bad practice! Overall, great place. A cozy, cheap place to sit at the bar and have some beverages solo or with a friend, and also a good spot to come with 4 or 5 friends easily accommodated. I’m sure I’ll be in again later this week.

Cute little place for some cheap pitchers of a Monday night. Apparently the ceilings in the bathrooms are quite low but being very short I can’t say I noticed.

Literally the worst Pad Thai I’ve ever tasted. Like someone dumped a bottle of ketchup on some overcooked noodles. The service was just ok. Caesar wasn’t bad… I asked for spicy and I got spicy. The steak was thin and tough. Generally just a crappy place. You’re much better off at the Drake a few doors down… or anywhere else, actually.

When you step inside the Savoy, you’ll notice that the space is intimate. It’s narrow and long with high tables located on either side of the wall. There’s more seating at the back near the bar. It’s hard to imagine this place being a restaurant, because it looks more like an upscale bar. Actually it’s looks like a mini version of the Drake. The décor is lovely and befits the hipness of Queen West: the colour scheme is black and white with the patterned wall paper and the tables and bar are made of dark wood. It’s dimly lit, safe for the small tea lights in glass vases along the wall and on the tables. The night I visited the Savoy, the crowd is young, fashionable, and sexy; this had something to do with the Valentine’s Day party my friends were DJing. They only host DJ parties here, and you’ll have to create your own dance floor which is the spot found near the DJ booth, the bar and the corridor on your way to the restrooms downstairs. They have a good selection of beers on tap like Sapporo, Harp, and Okanagan Pale Ale but Blanche de Chambly was the beauty that caught my eye.

Recently under new management, Savoy has quickly become a hotspot for anyone who wants to have a good time in a laid back bar bar away from the maddening crowds of The Drake Hotel, just down the way. Usually have great drink specials, the new chef does a helluva good job in the kitchen too. EDIT: New management again(not a good sign), this review is now moot
