I tried this place because they had a Groupon. $ 20 for a $ 50 haircut. My haircutter was Stella, she was nice and friendly. She did a good enough job of cutting my hair. No issues with her or any of the staff. They were all friendly. However, this place markets itself as more of an upscale place targeted at men. However when I arrived I noticed all the stations(not just mine) were quite dusty. Which leads me to question how often the place gets cleaned. Also, they have TVs everywhere but all the wiring is just hanging out there with small holes in the drywall etc. — it looks like I did the renovation! Kinda messy. So my thoughts are that the physical impression of the place just didn’t match the image they are trying to promote. And I certainly don’t think it is worth the $ 35 they charge for wash and cut. Go there if you have a Groupon. I have heard they will give you the Groupon rate even if you didn’t buy one online.

WoW — first time at a Taylor & Colt location and I received my all-time favourite haircut. Stopped by without an appointment and they were able to accommodate me right away — always a bonus as I hate haircut appointments. Kudos to my barber — Emie, she was fantastic. Great to talk with and she gave me the perfect cut, exactly as I asked for. Your cut includes a wash and style for $ 40, the norm for the Financial district. They also have a loyalty program — your 6th cut is free. This is certainly unique vs. the local competition. The shop was clean, modern and all the staff I encountered were friendly. This will be my new go to shop and I will book an appointment to see Emie next time, she does a fantastic job. BK

I was getting bored with my hairstyle as I have had some variation of spiky/messy hairstyle for the past 10 years. Decided to give Taylor & Colt a try using a groupon. I got an appointment with Loren. I gave her minimum instructions since I didn’t really know what I was looking for. I just told her to give me a side parting. For the next 45 minutes, she worked her magic, paying close attention to detail. She also recommended a product for my new hairstyle. My trial was highly successful and got lots of compliments on the cut. I’n definitely going back to Loren!

Got a father’s day gift card. Chose the Commerce Court location because I was a bit more familiar with its layout. And it’s near a Harvey’s. Called on Tuesday for a Thursday 5 pm appointment. They seemed to pencil me in. Showed up. I was told they did not have me in the system. I showed them the call log on my phone that I had clearly called their number. They then suggested one of their hair cutters was sick that day and I was booked for that person. The person at the desk offered a time slot 20 minutes later for 50% off. I had a pretty tight time schedule that day but I could slew it 20 minutes. The haircut itself was fine. Payment went a little wonky. They weren’t fully sure how to use gift cards. I realized this place has recently opened and I don’t think anyone there is aware of how to use their POS and reservation system. An email to head office alerting them to what appears to be some teething pains resulted in an apology and a kind offer for a re-do on the house. Bottom line: If you’re booking an appointment during their«recently opened» phase, you might want to call the day of your appointed to confirm. I’m sure they’ll get up to speed soon enough. Ultimately I can only report my experience and reservation reservations. End of the day, top to bottom, they do seem to be willing to make up for their flubs.
