I wasn’t impressed by this library. First of all, the parking lot is hard to get into. I couldn’t find the entrance to it and had to drive around for a while. The parking lot is next to a very busy shopping mall, adding to the confusion. The front door of the library isn’t obvious. I noticed several people going in through the theater entrance and the usher had to redirect them back outside. So I guess this review has more to do with the architecture and planning of the building. I’ve noticed the same problems with the Don Mills branch. These buildings look cool on the outside, but are confusing to navigate. If I found all sorts of amazing books I would forgive the architectural flaws, but I didn’t. So in conclusion, I will avoid this branch from now on.

I come here instead of North York Central Library just because there is free parking and I usually study for hours if I’m in a library. There are plenty of study tables, booths and private study rooms(max. two people) on the third floor which is what I love here :) Also, plenty of outlets as well as free wifi! They just need to make a sign that says ‘silent study’ in the rooms or something because some students seem to not know that the rooms are not sealed completely, so talking in the«rooms» is equivalent to talking in the quiet zone :(

The library has done a total renovation and is amazing — compared to what it was before. Everything can be done self serve(including returning books! Their book return system is mega cool and a bit futuristic looking). They have created a theatre section, but I am not sure exactly what this is since I haven’t visited this area. The whole inside has been redone and has a fresh and modern feel with lots of seating and large windows to let in the light. The first floor has all their magazines and new books, the 2nd floor houses the rest of the books and the kiddie section. I think there is a 3rd floor but haven’t gone up. The staff that I dealt with so far were pretty nice. I didn’t know the library got a little kinky because I saw copies of 50 shades of grey… lol.(and no I didn’t take out that book!)

Toronto Public Library Fairview Branch really need a facelift. At least replaced those worn out arm chairs, tables looks like they got from a garage sale… Full of students even in a Summer afternoon. I don’t mind the students but when they start letting their backpacks taking up the seats?!! Do they know about sharing? Free WIFI… good if I can get a seat or somewhere with access to Electric outlets?

This library is huge(but not as big as the one at North York Center) but it is frequented by lots of students since there are so many schools in the area. Most of the time they don’t have what I’m looking for on the shelf unless take the time to reserve something online. The staff here are less than helpful. At least there is free Wi-Fi all the Toronto Public Libraries now.
