The Trap Door Boutique is a terrific find. Unique and interesting outfits, designed by Canadians, and made in Canada, it doesn’t get better than that! The clothing is not run of the mill-boring stuff that you might find at regular clothing stores. This year’s winter collection is gorgeous. Coat-dresses, tunics, long skirts, micro skirts, lacy dresses, wicked tops, sweet shoes and boots, and of course, art and jewellery. They have an amazing stock of patterned tights which made me drool. Paired with the outfits — just sizzling. The mens’ section is small, but sports wild ties and funky pants and tops. Considering that their stock is not mass produced, the prices are very reasonable, and if you play your cards right, you can pick up one of the items on sale and do really well. Whenever we go to the Junction area of Toronto, we make a point to visit the Trap Door Boutique so we can check out what is new, on sale and just to hang for a bit. They are super friendly and shopping there is always a pleasant experience.

The unassuming sign at the store front is easy to miss, but a visit is well worth the time. Local designers and Canadian artisans are featured in this intimately stylish boutique. I was particularly fond of the perfumes and jewellery section, but what really impressed me were all the beautiful pieces of art displayed on the walls(and for sale). Most of the clothing is made in the area of in Montréal; it’s a great location to buy local. Some of the other shops and boutiques in the area are pretty cool, but most of these carry clothing that’s made in China or India. Check out Trap Door for great service and Ties that Don’t Suck!
