I found out about Crumbs Gluten Free Bakery through a teambuy or daily deal just around Christmas time in the fall. They had an amazing deal on gluten free cookies, and there was no way I was going to miss out on that! The oatmeal cookies dipped in chocolate are a godsend. Seriously. I’ve only visited the Seaport Market location, but the selection is always good, the products are fantastic, and the staff members that I’ve met at the market are the kind of people who truly want to help. I always leave their table with a smile on my face! Word to the wise though — get to the market in a timely fashion because they are often sold out by noon. Clearly they are popular!

Anyone whose read more than a few of my reviews knows that I have an intolerance to wheat. Add to that, my undying PASSION for treats of the baked and pastry sort… sometimes life gets glum. But Crumbs is my saviour. This is a spot I can come and not only get a selection of gluten free goodies, but the whole PLACE is gluten free. For me– Its a plethora of joy to stop in! Breads: Molasses bread, Quinoa Bread, Chickpea Bread, etc. I don’t know about you, but this is more than intriguing. I will recommend the molasses bread, although have yet to try the others. Bagels, pizza crusts, and delicious pastries, tarts and brownies all smell like heaven, and its hard to believe the lack of wheat. Crumbs is very educated on Celiac disease and the ingredients they use. They go above and beyond to create new and tasty product for the wheat-free folk. And thank goodness! I need a little mmm-hmm with my tea. The people are lovely and this is a great specialty shop. Wish there were more around the city, and with gluten free food on the rise, I think it’d be a hit. There will be no crumbs left on my plate. Yum!

I’ve written in a few reviews about my dad and his weird food allergies(and how he is allergic to just about everything imaginable). Well that long list of allergies includes yeast and gluten, which is what brought me to Crumbs Gluten Free Bakery at the Halifax Farmers Market. My dad goes crazy over the Crumb’s bagels, and I was apprehensive about trying them at first. I thought I was perfectly happy with the bagels I was eating but boy was I wrong! The bagels which substitute gluten for a combination of tapioca, rice and flax taste sweeter than wheat products and come covered in seeds(of the poppy and sesame varieties). While the bagels might be a budget killer for some people, and cost more than regular bagels(2 for $ 4, 4 for $ 7), for the crowd that can’t have gluten they are the best of the best.

Crumbs Gluten Free Bakery is based out of Truro but you will find one location out of The Farmers Market. First I have to say, these ladies must have been extremely busy because when we arrived there was not much left on the table. I know it is difficult to have to find products Gluten Free. This Bakery seems to have some of the best products. This is how you would really get what you want. Go to their website and pre-order your goodies. You have to order for Thursday for pick — up at the market on Saturday. They do other deliveries, go have a read on the site. This is a great service and product.
