I visited Acadian Maple Products in Upper Tantalion, NS(Canada) on 8÷1÷2015. I was on my way to Peggy’s Cove from Halifax, NS where my ship, the Queen Mary 2 was docked. A great small business selling local products. They even had a free video to watch while you are there about maple. Plus, I took photos.

I usually make at least one trek to Acadian Maple each summer; I like to spread the maple goodness to people outside our region to taste what they’re missing. :-) While many of their products are available at Sobeys, it’s always best to go to the source for more selection. All things maple are available here, as well as bake mixes, blueberry-flavoured items, candles, teas, coffee, fudge … truly something for everyone. Prices are very reasonable for locally-made products. The store is large with room to manoeuver around fellow shoppers. Customer service wise? There isn’t any. Each time I’ve visited, it’s the same woman behind a workstation(not the cash counter) who says hello and continues with her work. Not once has anyone asked if they can help me, and I’ve never seen any staff on the floor. While I certainly don’t wish to be tailed by a salesclerk, it would be nice if someone was available for questions or help finding a particular item. When you’re ready to pay, you have to approach the one staff member and let her know; you then wait for her at the cash counter. Other than this strange setup, I like the store and the products are worth the drive.

My friends and I popped in here for their last Maple Brunch of the season, and we were not disappointed. For about $ 20, we got all-we-could-eat pancakes, maple baked beans with sage and pork belly, sausage, bacon, dessert, and coffee/tea. Honestly the pancakes weren’t my favourite, they were a bit dry, but everything else was delicious and it was good value considering the amount of food we got. The dining area was quite small but luckily there were a couple of tables available when we arrived. The wait staff were all really friendly. The store is nicely laid out as well — bright and lots of cute products. They don’t just carry maple items also — they have lots of local cooking ingredients and supplies as well as great gifts. Everything is NS-made so you can feel good shopping here and supporting local businesses. I will definitely be back next time I need a unique and personal gift!

This is a great family-owned business selling everything you can imagine that involves maple sugar. They offer free tastes of their products, have lots to choose from, friendly staff, and will even explain how maple syrup is made and graded.
