I’m so full I may explode but before I do I will let you know that I just had the most delicious burger ever. I think next week I’m going to have the Chicken Waffle… I’m hooked. Haven’t been there? Shame on you… you are missing out…

I finally got the chance to try this food truck out on a recent Sunday trip to the farmer’s market. Everything on their menu sounded delicious but I opted for the pulled pork burrito with garlic mayo. It was delicious! And super filling, stuffed with tons of pork, rice, veggies and sauce. I honestly find their prices a tad high(my burrito was $ 8), but considering the freshness of the ingredients and the portion size, the extra cost is pretty much worth it. The staff are also really friendly and they made our food quite quickly(although it wasn’t busy at the time we visited). My boyfriend had one of their meat sandwiches and he enjoyed it, although didn’t love it. Think I need to try a few more of their menu items before I rave too much, but I enjoyed my first experience enough that I will definitely go back!

I love me the Nomad Gourmet. My first experience was at a Local Connections Halifax event linked up with Propeller Beer. Bought a ticket, got beer and NG burgers. It was beer and burger heaven for the evening. My second experience was sampling their sausages on a bun when checking out the Man Show part of the Exhibition Park Christmas Craft Fair. One thing is clear, you don’t have to be a man to enjoy the tasty morsels being served up from the NG kitchen. And then this weekend I got to try breakfast Nomad style. I chose to «build my own breakfast’ for $ 4. The way this works is you get an egg and hash browns and add on things at your choosing for extra $. I added some bacon and got the BESTBACON of my life. It was perfectly grilled and made my weekend. The egg was fried egg perfection and there were too many hash browns for me to eat. The hash browns are real local potatoes cooked on the grill and have a charbroiled taste to them. Pro-tip — NG will now be at the Halifax Seaport Market on weekend mornings as long as there isn’t a cruise ship in harbour. Extra Pro-tip — I didn’t try the breakfast sandwich — but people — it’s homemade Belgian waffles with chicken! One final tip — when your handsome pirate brother has a new baby the way to the new parents hearts is to bring Nomad Gourmet burgers to the hospital for lunch the day after the baby is born. That way both new parents are happily stuffing their faces with burger goodness and you get your brand new niece all to yourself!(at least until the burgers are devoured…)

Picture it: the first sunny and hot Friday afternoon of the year. Hopping on the ferry from Downtown Dartmouth, sitting on the top and basking in the warmth of the sun. Is there a better day to take in a food truck lunch? Nine of us went over, and eight of us got the burger. It was juicy, hot, fresh and delicious. One ordered the chicken & waffle sandwich. It looked phenomenal, although she thought it needed a little sauce. But overall it was very good. The only real downside to our visit was the wait. It was pretty busy, and we waited a long time for our burgers. People who ordered after us but ordered something different(like burritos) got their food first. However, I think the freshness of the burger at least helped make up for it. Not having eaten at a food truck before(other than fish and chips), I’m not really sure how long of a wait is appropriate. I will definitely be back again.

This place makes me wish I worked downtown! I would eat lunch here every day! Down right phenomenal! The burger is juicy, delicious, fresh, cover it with cheese and bacon and I am in my happiest of happy places! The price is the best price for this kind of burger anywhere! Man I will be back, as often as I can!

I was very pleased to hear that the Nomad Gourmet would be experimenting with different location in 2013, and to my surprise a new chef and menu! So located a mere 12 min walk from work, I decided to take advantage of the mild january day and proceeded down to Kempt Rd, across the way from the McDonalds. I opted for the Chicken & Waffle sandwich and water. I was hesitant at first but that is one heck of a sandwich. The large is a waffle folded in half, while the small would be the quarter. The chicken, lightly breaded and juicy with a little bit of the apple slaw inside both pieces of waffle. I’d probably add some kind of sauce to it the next time. I’m glad that the truck is trying new locations, it’s not everyday I don’t make it downtown very often and this is exactly what I needed to break away from the meh sandwiches from nearby superstore & sobey’s.

Interesting sliders kind of like a sausage pulled pork deal? Price was good. I would try more of what they have on the menu.

I was planning to go to the Christmas fair at the exhibition grounds this weekend and was pumped to find out that Nomad Gourmet would be at the Guy Show! I got to experience their double pork sliders at City Harvest and I couldn’t wait for my boyfriend to try them as I knew they would be a hit! Needless to say they didn’t disappoint! We got their pulled pork sandwich which was great, but the real hit was their burrito! We couldn’t believe how many amazing ingredients were in it! Pulled pork, guac, salsa verde, mexican rice, re-fried beans, and it was all so tasty! It was only about $ 8 and I could barely eat half of it! They are super friendly and so helpful! I really can’t say enough good things about them, just go and try Nomad Gourmet and you will see for yourself!

I love love love Nomad! I swear my heart skips a beat when I round the corner onto Argyle and lay my eyes on that truck! I’ve had a few items from them — pulled pork taco, brisket taco, and a veggie burrito. All of which were fantastic! The prices are reasonable, but truthfully, I don’t pay much attention to the cost. The food is sooo worth it! The guys in the truck are super friendly, and when it isn’t busy, they love to chat. My only complaint — they aren’t walking distance from my office! Although, maybe that’s a good thing, beause if they were close I would eat there for lunch every single day and empty my wallet! If you haven’t gone — GO!

What do you do when you’ve roped five people into working twelve hour days with you for a full weekend? You treat them well. That’s what. So when hunger pains struck mid-way through Hal Con, my goal was to pick up something tasty, filling, and packed with energy to get us over the hump, ideally without going broke. Luckily the Nomad Gourmet food truck was just outside the World Trade Centre and ready to rock. Tired delirium kept me from taking in too much of the menu although I did notice an awesome ‘Hulk’ special to fit the theme of the weekend. Owner Nick was able to sort me out by walking me through the best options to fit my crew while also offering up a vegetarian alternative on the fly. Ten minutes and six burritos later, I had a very happy team. The guac was super fresh, the salsa verde shone through, and lordy lordy, I sure as hell couldn’t make it all the way through mine before hitting food coma territory. At about $ 7ish a pop, these babies packed a serious punch. The moral of this story? If you need good eats on the cheap, go Nomad.

Hello Nomad Gourmet, it was lovely meeting you today at City Harvest. The double pork sliders on fluffy white buns where so smokey and delicious. Hopefully you’ll come by Dal campus some day and we can have lunch together again.

I had the burrito which was tasty and filling for 8 dollars. However, I did see some guys ordering the tacos(3 for 9 dollars) and the size of the tacos was pretty measly and wouldn’t have even equated to ½ the burrito. Perhaps Nomad gourmet should consider a reduced price of the tacos, or upping the portion size a bit.

Being a big fan of the food truck movement, it was music to my ears when I heard that Halifax was going to get a couple new trucks that *gasp* weren’t fish and chip trucks. Not that I don’t like fish and chips, but we need some more mobile meal diversity in this city. Nomad Gourmet opened to the masses In September, setting up shop on Argyle Street, just above the Grand Parade, a solid location to cash in(and it is cash only) on the office worker lunch crowd, and the late night crowd if they choose to set up then. It was a sunny, lackadaisical day off for me when I came downtown to sample Nomad Gourmet’s menu. It was a tough call as everything sounded so tempting — from the pulled pork or brisket sandwiches, to the smoked sausage or tacos. I eventually settled on a pulled pork sandwich and a quinoa salad, which I tacked onto my order to make me feel at least a little health conscious. There wasn’t a long wait as I had come a bit after the lunch rush crowd, and I soon had my food in hand and sauntered down to the Grand Parade to take a seat. While the chef suggested I take a bunch of napkins for a messy sandwich, its paper pouch kept things well under control, despite a heap of their bacon jam on top of the smoked meat. The meat was tender and moist, although it was so finely shredded it had an odd texture to it and I didn’t find there to be a particularly noticeable smoke flavour to the meat. The bacon jam was fantastic, although I found it to not be so much bacony so much as it was caramelized oniony. Nonetheless, it made for a sweet and rich topping. The bolillo bun was firm and held everything together nicely, without being dry or tough. The quinoa salad(which I will always pronounce phonetically, as a protest) was surprisingly refreshing and full of flavour. It packed a colourful and tasty punch with corn, beans, zucchini, squash, peppers, red onion and cilantro and a splash of lime juice gave it a citrusy tang. It wasn’t perfection on wheels, but I definitely want to sample the rest of Nomad’s menu, and welcome them to Halifax’s food truck scene.

I have wanted to try Nomad since I read about them and finally had the chance today. It was a perfect fall day for eating outside, shining sun sure helped. The line-up when we arrived was pretty big! Nick was friendly and efficient taking our orders, and I couldnt help but smile at how excited he was as he took a picture of everyone who was waiting to post on twitter. I ordered the pulled pork tacos and mexican rice. My pal went with the fish taco and veggie tacos. We looooooooooved our food. Except I didnt love the cilantro garnish, but I’m a cilantro hater so its not their fault. The bacon jam was unbelievable! I need a jar of that for at home please and thank you Nick. The rice was just ok, but I’m picky about rice — mainly because I make the best rice evaaaaaaaaaar. I will definitely be going back soon to try some of their other offerings. Side note, they also carry the Made With Local bars we all know and love!
