A&W

Lots of poor people asking for money. Don’t dine in. This place is a takeout only at night as they closed the upstair area. I’ve 2 people bugging me within 5 mins. The staff won’t even do a thing to make them go away, as they literally watched them ask every customer seated inside.

Came here earlier today for lunch (Saturday afternoon). It’s conveniently located at Waterfront Station. It’s my first time at this location.
It’s newer location so everything inside is relatively modern looking. I go in and perfect there’s no one waiting at the cashier. Made my order and they take your name as well.
And then the wait began, now I see why they ask for your name. I had a chubby chicken burger, fries, and root beer for dine in. I know they probably make it to order, but a 5 minute wait when there was only one order before me is a little long for a «fast food» establishment.
They call out my name, turn around, and decide to check out the upstairs and eat there. Seating is limited downstairs and you might have to sit with strangers and hobos.
I get upstairs, there are separate tables there (whoo hoo), sit down and start eating. Then I realize they didn’t give me any napkins. Or ketchup. There’s no condiment stations upstairs and I definitely missed it downstairs. (Does it even exists? Don’t see it in any of the picture either.) I wasn’t in the mood to make the extra trip down and up again so I just ate it as is.
The food is alright and not too greasy. It is a little more pricier than other fast food chains. Always try to come here with a coupon. Root beer is great as always. They put it in a glass mug and no ice if you dine in. However, now in hindsight I wish I got my entire meal to go. Then at least I would have gotten napkins and ketchup and don’t have to chug down my root beer before leaving. Lesson learned.
All in all. Good location. Clean. But has its share of interesting customers. Average food. Above average wait. And not proactive in giving out napkins or condiments. Unfortunately, this experience will be a 2 out of 5 for me.

Im Bahnhof Harbour Center gelegen. Der Skytrain endet hier. Die Kette nennt sich selbst Home of the Burger Family — Da die Burger alle Namen von Familienmitglieder haben — Bsp.: Mama Burger (1 Rindfleisch) Papa Burger (2 Rindfleisch) Grandpa Burger (3 Rindfleisch) Dazu gibt es in der Combo — French Fries, Süsskartoffel Fries oder Oniorings in netten kleinen Metallkörbchen. Das Rootbier ist hier legendär.
Die Bedienung war freundlich und der Laden sehr sauber, Kostenloses Internet und einen tollen Blick auf das Treiben auch der Straße hat man hier auch, ideal um sich vor einer Sightseeing-​Tour zu stärken oder eine kleines Abendessen auf dem Weg nach Hause ins Hotel einzunehmen — günstig und gut. Übrigens, A&W steht für gutes Fleisch — Aufzucht ohne Antibiothika, Steroide oder sonstige Stoffe.

Wow! I didn’t expect much of this place because I don’t eat fast food but place was super tasty & delicious & a honest ¹⁰⁄₁₀! One of my favourite places especially after a walk around sea wall! It’s conveniently located at sea bus station for Canada line & expo line skytrains. You can also get coupons in the newspaper and register online at A & W. Here is the scoop:
Patty: nice meat with no hormones or steroids as advertised on the napkins! Little do u know they don’t use steroids & hormones in Canada! The burger tasted fresh with tomatoes, crispy lettuce, onion and sauces. Juicy Bacon in there too! Just cooked to perfection on nicely toasted bun. Macdonalds is going down because this is 100 times better quality I assure you. I once got chicken burger and not the same stick 2 beef burgers!
Super Cold Root beer in large Frosted glass mug quenched my thirst! Remember you are allowed one refill although they will not tell you.
Fries: tasty, nicely cut, fresh and piping hot out of the fryer.
Cons: workers are constantly harassed by the poor & down and out population always trying to get freebies with staff count change etc. They deal with this all day there but I will return again soon when I walk around the sea wall!

Out of all the A&W’s in the city, weather you buy something or not they seem to be the most an*l retentive when it comes to allowing you to use their bathroom. No matter how cheery and up beat I am they all act as though they have a chip on their shoulder when serving me. I feel really bad for the tourists who come in and use either train lines and this location as their stop over snack. This is how we represent Vancouver. Really?

It’s A&W, what do you expect?
Due to the location there are lots of hobos around begging and being crazy as usual. Inside though the upstairs area is nice and quiet.
When you give me a pickup number though, yell the number — not «Special Burger» because I didn’t order a special burger and don’t try to tell me otherwise.
