I know I say this a lot — but I really wanted to like this. The Punjabi Market isn’t teaming with options in way of boutique stores or westernized shopping. Also, I’m always looking for a great breakfast spot. After driving past this a few times my boyfriend said, «Okay, let’s just go.» Someone left a Tip about the owners report with customers(or lack there of) and he wasn’t kidding. He kind of eyed from behind the counter until my boyfriend said hello. He tentatively slid a menu across the counter and we looked it over. I’m so confused by Danielle B. and Christie S. commenting about the«friendly service» — I wish that had been the case. Huevos Mexicanos and Chai Latte for me. Eggs Benedict(as usual) and a coffee for the boy. Service was at a snails pace and when another girl came in at the same time he apologized to her for it «being busy». Did I mention it was empty when we arrived? I was underwhelmed by my food and I never felt like the owner really wanted to be serving us. Maybe that’s his heritage? But a «you’re welcome» to my numerous«thank you’s» would have been nice, maybe even once. Due to the«busy-ness» of the establishment, my drink was casually overlooked.

Stopped in for a warm drink on a chilly day(I probably try more new places for this reason than any other, including my healthy sense of curiosity — I blame it on my delicate California constitution). It was empty and I got friendly service right away for my chai latte. Apparently they specialize in Chilean cuisine — though there is no evidence of this from outside signage. I got excited to try a Chilean empanada until he said it has chopped hard-boiled egg in it, and I can’t do eggs like that. When I asked what other Chilean dish I might try, he said that basically the Chilean touch is adding chopped hard-boiled egg to everything … So I felt disappointed and settled for my chai, which was actually quite good. If I’d had a little time, I would definitely have taken it «for here» and lounged on the couch to read or watch the world go by outside. They do have a full breakfast menu«served all day.»

Hard to judge since I didn’t quite order food — just a bottle of water & their homemade, fresh banana bread, which is pretty good actually. She says she bakes it every day, and it’s always a good sign when it’s doesn’t come processed in a special wrapping of plastic, you know? Parking is as tough along Main st. and even the side streets for the residents here. But once inside, it’s pretty relaxing, a sofa & coffee table, with some window booth seating. Think they specialize in some type of South american food, but do offer the regular breakfast eggs, etc.

Friendly service, good coffee and tea. Quiet place to relax and read. Breakfast yummies like platters and scrambled eggs available, and I really enjoy the warm friendly vibe.
