I’m a big fan of Bean Brothers, especially their eggs benedict. Some of their stuff is a little hit or miss, especially the various salads. I was disappointed when they took away the«make your own omelette» option, as that was my boyfriend’s favourite thing to get. They do some pretty great baked goods too. I much prefer this to the café artigiano across the street, too.

There’s a small window of opportunity to eat after I get my braces tightened at Angelina Loo’s office. Most teens will know what I’m talking about. I am 32. I had the fried egg sandwich and the mushroom soup. The soup had so much much much mushrooms in it, it displaced most of the cream soap. I found this to be very hot, pun intended. It is homemade, and it reminded me of something my mom would have made for me as a child, but she never made mushroom soup growing up. It’s also very comfortable in there and a lot of the things inside are made out of wood. I ate the sandwich, it also tasted really good and is a good size.

Bean Brothers has never failed me. Bean(haaaa) here numerous times for food(mostly for hot drinks but I’ve also had brunch here. Decent stuff.) Their chai latte is excellent. So are their normal lattes. Their hot chocolate is delicious. Oh, their tea selection is good too. Oh my, did I mention the apple cider??? So good! They also offer foods like mac and cheese, brunch, pizza and gelato. And they offer beers as well.

Wow, this place keeps getting better and better. I love the new, modern menus and clean look. Very happy to see new ownership make this place great again. Enjoyed a fresh chicken panini and JJ Leaf tea today and a kale salad and a chicken havarti sandwich last Saturday. The pizzas(made in a real stone oven) are also fantastic. A nice vibe and one of the main heartbeats in Kerrisdale. Locally owned and managed. So rare in this industry and yet so nice. Another great experience.

Brunch in Kerrisdale? Whaaaat? This place has awesome all-day breakfast every day. Eggs Benedict and a medium drip coffee for $ 13. What more could you want? Friendly staff and awesome location right in the heart of Kerrisdale! Definitely try their lunch and dinner options, and their local beers on tap! A great place for studying, eating, or relaxing with friends!

Have wanted to come here recently at least a few times but they changed their hours and have been closed in the mornings AND in the evenings when I want to go. Closing in the winter I could understand but it’s been closed — by 8pm? or 9pm? — throughout the summer even when it’s still light out. Starbucks is still packed at 10pm, Bean Bros please bring back the old hours! I am hoping this is a temporary thing(there’s a taped paper sign on the door with truncated business hours), but maybe not. The early/late hours is(was?) one of the the best things about this place! UPDATE: No more gelato… :-/Where, in Kerrisdale, can I get a scoop of ice cream someone please tell me???

Been a regular for almost 3 years. I come here for the chai latte and the delicious lemon squares! Atmosphere is good but the quality of the food can be pretty unstable. For breakfast I always get eggs Benny with hashbrowns, but recently the sauce they drizzle on top is the only thing I can taste. The eggs and the bun were extremely bland. Service can be unsteady as well. As far as my experience goes the female servers and Batista have always been polite and prompt. But there were a few times when I dropped in during lunch to grab a quick coffee and was ignored by the male cashier. Seriously. I know you see me. Are you really that lazy or do you hate your job that much? Will return for a nice cup of black coffee and the chai latte! I just hope I have better luck next time!

Visiting family in the area — came here for lunch. Customer service was terrible and the food was unimpressive. The gentleman who took our order gave off a pissed off vibe and was not helpful with questions. I had a chicken sandwich which was tasty, but my husbands tuna melt never came. After 20 mins, he inquired and was told«we thought it was a to go order, so we didn’t make it» — how does that even make sense? Waitstaff who later delivered his food was not at all apologetic. Both sandwiches were served with homemade chips. I’m normally a fan, but these were cardboardy and not flavorful. We were eager to try a new place and highly disappointed by this one.

Yeah for coffee and morning glory muffins in the morning. This place has good coffee, food and service. With a lack of internet café’s in the kerrisdale area, this is my go to for this area. Their chai latte is essential for me in the am and atmosphere is great for a little work or study. Also the service is consistent and friendly. I’d recommend this place for a caffeine call and a good place to chill and relax or work or whatever your fancy is!

Bean Brothers is looking pretty sad these days. My experience with the food here is that it’s mediocre/just so so. Also, this place had a poor owner, so I hope they can turn it around. Spend a little more and go to Fourbourg across the street — you’ll be rewarded.

I was hangover from previous night and tried their breakfast sandwich. I had trouble deciding so the cashier promptly recommended BLT with pan fried eggs in the middle. There were two eggs, nice crisply bacons(not too greasy), plenty of lettuce and tomatoes so it hit the spot. It also came with potatoe chips which Also tasted great. I also ordered a small cherry tomatoe salad with bococcini and it was lots and fresh. I was impressed. This place is semi-do it yourself place so I grabbed condiments and utensils but the everyone was friendly. I tried their coffee before as well as it was pretty decent. They do have a lot of selections on the menu and it can be a hit and miss but overall a good price and selection with plenty of seating.

Awesome to see a independent coffee chain be able to compete with the corporate coffee world. With a starbucks on the corner and an artigiano across the street you know they are doing something right to stay so busy in this neighborhood. love it!

This is a great neighborhood place for meeting with friends but the food is not the greatest. We had Artichoke Salad, Chicken and Rice Soup, and Perogies. The Artichoke Salad was good with a good mix of artichoke, tomatoes and dressing. The Chicken and Rice Soup comes with a small multigrain bun, the soup is full of flavorful bits of chicken and rice but tasted a little oily. The Perogies are horrible, it tasted plastic and hard around the skin and tasteless on the ‘cheese’ filling. Good for coffee and tea with friends and the baked goods are huge and sugary but be warned about the hot food at the back.

There’s been a noticeable shift in this café in the last 6 months, and I’m pretty sure it has something to do with a change in cook or change of owner, I’m not sure. But yes, noticeable difference! Every time I go in now the staff seem to me happy, smiling heaps and more engaged in their jobs. This morning the girl at the till actually asked me how my new year was going, and I could tell she was genuine. LOVETHAT. Again, I love the diversity here. There are staff from the Philippines(makes me homesick), New Zealand(makes me more homesick), and a couple accents I can’t place. Lately they’ve been rocking this Beet and Apple salad that has become my weakness. I eat as much of it as I can as often as I can. Perfect balance of acidity and freshness, and I adore it. If you’re in for breakfast, I’d suggest trying their massive muffins. The morning glory are a little bit out of this world. I just ate a whole one and am beyond full. I haven’t tried their coffee again in the last while, so can’t really comment on that. I do know that they switched to JJ Bean coffee, so that’s a plus. Gotta love us some JJ Bean! I would love to see some gluten free and vegetarian/vegan options coming out here, as I would definitely dine here more often if they some

Went there for a casual, small breakfast with my mom. I didn’t have high expectations since it looked like any ol’ self-serve café with no particular food/décor worth noting. They offer a bit of everything, from pizza, soup and sandwiches to all-day breakfast and baked goods. I was pleasantly surprised. They serve JJ Bean coffee(local roaster) and my americano was quite good. We had a croissant(average) and their french toast, which was surprisingly soft and delightful. Portions were great. They use excellent bread which led me to think that their sandwiches would be worth a try. I wish I tried this place when I was still a UBC student because they have lots of space and are open late, possibly a good alternative to cafes on Broadway or Kits.

Directly across the street from Café Artigiano, Bean Brothers is differentiated by being a café– teria. By that, I mean a café in the front and a cafeteria in the back. The back serves breakfast all day as well as pizzas, soup and sandwiches. The front serves your typical coffee and tea related beverages, scones, muffins and pastries. I was contemplating ordering breakfast from the back but was disappointed to see all of their bagels and breads coming out of commercial grocery store type packaging so I decided to grab a bite instead from the front. As a group we ordered 4 large lattes, 2 Morning Glory muffins and 2 cheese scones. We received 4 lattes, 2 muffins and 1 scone which is not that big a deal except that it took quite some time for the errant scone to show up. The latte itself was made decently but I was not loving the beans used. The muffins and scones were really quite delicious. Traffic in and out is steady. It kind of looks like the waiting room of a vet outside because this evidently is part of the Kerrisdale dog walking route for middle aged white people. I don’t think I would go out of my way to come here, but if I was in the area it is a nice alternative to the chain coffee shops.

A pleasant place to have higher-end coffee & environment than a Starbucks… actually both can be quite loud when it’s packed, but BB has more of a nice home-ness to it, much more table seating as it does offer pizza, which i hear is quite good & underrated. Actually they have soups, sandwiches, etc. as a full deli style, similar to a subway, is in the back, so there’s 2 sections. Looks like pretty fresh ingredients & the workers wear the see-thru gloves, yay! I’m generally here just for the hot chocolate & work at the window seating for the eye candy action. Must be where Tony Gallagher lives in the area, seen him twice here.

A tacked away gem! Bean brothers are known for its coffee but if you head to the back of the café you’ll discover more then coffee. My friends and I ventured off to the Kerrisdale area for some shopping and a light lunch… We walked around and nothing really tempted us, until we walked into Bean Brothers. We expected pre-made sandwiches and all ready to go salads. but it was a delightful suprise to find a deli/mini restaurant. You are greeted with a large menu with pictures and all types of food wood oven pizza, Ukrainian dishes, fresh sandwich, soup, salads, burgers, and so much more. I had ordered a tuna sandwich on rye with a Thai noddle salad. It was perfect for what I was craving. My friends ordered sandwiches and black bean salad, the black bean salad was so good I still crave it today. My other friend had Borscht soup and I also tasted it and it was also very tasty. Im not a big fan of borscht but that was pretty good. Over all this place was a nice surprise, I look forward to coming back.
