Catch 122 makes a good first impression with the menu options and the interior design and ambiance. I have merely tried one option on their brunch menu so I speak for that item alone; the eggs benny with smoked salmon. The small bunch of leaves(«salad») that came on the side was dry, and the hollondaise sauce was way too creamy, rendering the food unflavorful, and hard to enjoy without a good helping of their hot sauce. But I must say, the potatoes were amazing, best part of the dish! I would consider returning to try their other options, but I’m definitely not coming back for that bland creamy eggs benny.

We stumbled upon this place while visiting Gastown and ended up even happier as we stumbled out! Loved the local bear flight and the food was delicious. The fried chicken with maple glaze is now the only way I want to eat fried chicken. Our waiter was fantastic; he provided great service and gave us advise on where else to hit up in Gastown.

I’ve been here twice and have to say that both experiences were great. The first was a brunch where I ordered the smoked salmon benny and shared my friend’s duck benny. The second time I shared mussels, the charcuterie plate, and ½ L wine. Both times the food was great and service very pleasant. I managed to charge get the bar staff to charge my dying iPhone, a real lifesaver, so shout out to the staff for being so helpful!

Came Sunday afternoon for brunch on the long weekend. The wait was about 20 mins which we waited outside. Thankfully it was a nice day. We were seated in the back in a big table(just my husband and I) later they sat a group of three a few seats down. I guess when they don’t have large groups they will seat multiple groups on these tables. We got a tea and latte and ordered the Catch 122 upon the servers recommendation.(Scrambled eggs, house-smoked and cured wild salmon with dill crème fraîche, arugula, croissant, yukon nugget potato hash $ 13) Good portion and they also brought two pieces of complimentary banana bread. Would return for brunch next time we are in Vancouver.

I have a love affair with eggs bennies and this place has now landed a special place in my heart! I had their short rib benny — the hollandaise sauce, the short rib and those potatoes. can it get any better?! I plan to go back again and again to try their menu items… the girl on the table next to us has the Catch 122 — salmon, eggs, argula with dill on a croissant — heavenly! I’m already dreaming about my next visit.

I like the food here. I was lucky, I rushed into the door 6 mins before 6pm. So we got a chance to order off of the happy hour menu. There was basically no time for to think so I picked a few items. Only thing is why would they have the hummus and cracker there when its the same price in the regular menu. We got the hummus, fried oyster, fried chicken and mussels and I added the frites afterward which passed the happy hour time. The food overall was really good. Why I ordered the frites afterward was because we noticed how every table ordered the frites. I also ordered their ice tea lemonade which is made by them. The drink was really good. I personally loved it. Its quite refreshing when having so much fried stuff. Overall the food was good and the service was excellent. I also like the décor of the place. Its quite trendy and cool. Good experience! Will definitely come back.

Was very excited for our very first brunch experience at Catch! Called in at 9:15am to see if we needed a reservation and I was told that they do not take reservations on weekends. No problem! Fully understand. The gentleman on the phone did mention that as the 2 of us were planning on arriving at 10:15am there should be no problem as they don’t get busy until 11:00am. Nice! We arrived at 10:15am and found a line up and wait list. No problem! I get it, no one can predict the future and things happen. We were still very excited for brunch and put our name on the list and mentioned that we are also open to sitting at the bar. «Great!» said the gentleman running the door, as this would make things move faster. We proceeded to stand outside and wait. After approximately 30 minutes, we started to notice that people that arrived after us were being called. Just thought that they had a plan and let it go for a little longer, trust them, they know what they are doing. Another couple of groups were called that arrived after us and at this point, I thought we should check in just in case. Went inside and had a peek at the wait list that was kept behind the desk and noticed that our name was crossed off and there were 7 other groups that were called after our name… I asked the gentleman about why our name was crossed off and his answer was definitely not one that you would expect in this situation. In the end, we missed brunch and never got the opportunity to experience Catch 122 and will not be returning. Do I sound bitter? Obviously! I am hungry!!! ;-) BTW, I think we should be able to post reviews without having to select a star rating.

this place has the potential to be great; the décor has a collection of genuine antique, solid wood counters with wrought iron finishings, paired with retro– styled edison-esque filiment bulbs, stylish plates while almost entirely utilitarian in appearance. I was seated right away at the bar, the only other occupant being one of their own staff. Ordering the«bottomless» coffee(it being too soggy, and too early, for proper drinks) — I had to get the staff’s attention for a refill, and a grilled cheese w/pulled pork sandwich, which comes with each half stacked atop each other the– grilled cheese appears an after thought, and the pulled pork being the main(and, while tasty, the pork is sodden with bbq sauce, making the bottom half of the sandwich quite soggy indeed). The service, despite it being a slow Monday mid day, and having all 3 front staff hovering around the bar, was indifferent and non– attentive. Hearing that their conversation centred around pool(a game I love), I tried to strike up a conversation– but even so was quickly ignored. If they tried even just a little bit, I might consider coming back and lingering– as it is, I’ll never know if they’re brunch, or their pot de crème– really IS all their description claims. Their lack of enthusiasm has quenched mine.

I quite liked the food here and at $ 12 a plate, its a great price but unfortunately, we were disappointed in the service and not wowed by some of the dishes. 3 of us shared the Dirty Breakfast(duck confit, duck fat croutons, maple baked beans, hash browns topped with two poached eggs), the Catch 122(scrambled eggs and cured wild salmon on a croissant served with potatoes), and the eggs benedict with short rib. All the fried potatoes were nice and crispy which was a huge plus! The hollandaise sauce of the benedict was extremely creamy but delicious and eggs poached very well! The croissant was a surprise being not too heavy and very well scrambled eggs complimented by salmon but the disappointment was with the dirty breakfast. With an overly sweet tomato sauce base, you could hardly tell this was a duck decadence treat other than the slick of oil you felt after each bite. I did not like the sogginess of the potatoes and the beans were mediocre. Eggs were poached nicely but there was no sauce on TOP of them, just sitting atop the rest of the dish. I would not order this again. Now the service, it wasn’t BAD, but for a place like this, I expected it to be better. When we asked about the menu(since we are active instagram searchers), he spoke to us like we were very uninformed about their menu changes. Although menu changes are not the problem, he could have handled it in a more professional manner. Overall, it was a nice brunch and I would return if in the area but it was not exceptional.

We went here for brunch this past weekend. We got there around 10 just as it was starting to fill up. My friend arrived a few minutes before us and got the table. Service was fairly slow – we were sitting there a good 10 minutes after greetings and deciding what to order, when I finally flagged someone down to ask who our waiter was. When the waitress arrived, she was pleasant. She didn’t seem to do a whole lot that would explain the slowness(she only took our initial order and dropped off the bill); it was more of a curiosity than anything. The food was okay. I really wanted the Bread Pudding French Toast, but it has raisins, so I got the salmon bennies. Strangely, mine was a bit less impressive than others I saw being delivered: My portion of potatoes was about half the amount and my side salad was just arugula with some olive oil. My boyfriend got the Dirty Breakfast 2.0(duck confit), which he said was also«okay». That’s fairly disappointing because it’s such an indulgence. The space was interesting, in a typical Gastown fashion. All in all, I wouldn’t go out of my way to come here. There are better places nearby. I might try one or two other dishes if I was there.

The lines up are too long and the hang overs are too strong! Waited twice in the line up and decided to go somewhere else! when we finally got in, it was good. Ambiance-was fast paced food with and pretty casual. Food– was okay, nothing great, eggs benny w/beef was nothing amazing. Service– eventhough our waiter was charming, the service sucked. Had to wait 10 minutes before we even got water or coffee!

While walking around Gastown unsure of where to grab Brunch, we decided stopped by Catch 122 even though there looked to be a wait for a table. After grabbing coffee and coming back, we were seated pretty quickly and the wait wasn’t as bad as we anticipated. After ordering our plates of food, we were pleasantly surprised that there was complimentary griddled banana bread for a quick appetizer. For brunch, we ordered the Dirty Breakfast plate, the Eggs Benedict plate and the Gastown Classic plate. We all enjoyed our food, loving the use of maple beans and the nice presentation of our dishes. The service was great, and we had a few laughs with our server along with a quick history lesson of the Gastown area and the building that Catch 122 resides in from the Owner.

Had an impromptu brunch with the gang today and decided to check out Catch 122.(Apparently it was in one of those top brunch spots in Vancouver lists). The real«catch»… is that it’s a really trendy hip and happening place. Be prepared to wait! Or better yet, send one of your pals to put their name down first. I was fortunate enough to be that lucky pal … As I start doing the 2-step outside to keep warm.(Arrived at 1:10pm on a Saturday and probably got seated around 1:45pm — table for 6). **no reservations allowed not for today at least** Catch 122 had very friendly staff! Shortly after being seated we were offered complimentary banana bread. The server were warned us about their deliciousness… Oh my… Crispy fresh baked top, super moist insides with just enough banana flavour!(Can I get a loaf to go???) Food — I had the eggs Benedict. There are a few options you can choose from for this dish(braised short ribs, smoked salmon, pulled pork to name a few). I chose the braised short rib! Perfect poached eggs with a not too shabby hollandaise sauce.(I’m getting hungry again). One of the best parts of this dish was the Yukon nugget potato hash! Fork tender hash with a great crisp texture. Everything on their brunch menu sounded very tasty plus they were all at a great price of $ 12! Also the décor was very warm and rustic. Would love to check out their dinner menu next time!

4-stars for the overall atmosphere, customer service & vibe: it’s a date-material place, not that it’s romantic but trendy to impress. A bit of a dimmed lighting, and a place to be seen as it’s just a rectangular box so I noticed when I heard any lass with the click of her heels but I digress, as usual. Had heard about their French Toast as being in the top ten so while good, I wouldn’t rant and rave about it. Maybe I’m just a bit oldfashioned and prefer the fluffy with white sprinkled sugar so I do get it, that one has to be original and different. Their’s is more like a cake, with the blueberry & sauce, actually, quite good. The nice touch of whipped cream, which was even better, didn’t even need syrup. Originally sat in the middle, but had to move to the front window seating to power up the laptop. Interesting eye candy walking by, if you know what I mean. Online reservations possible.

I must say, hipster-esque, trendy brunch places are my guilty pleasure. I suggested to my friend S that we should go here after I donate blood. We agreed on it and ventured downtown. Being popular, and a Sunday, there was a wait. No big deal, only had to wait about twenty minutes before we were seated. We went around 1ish, so it wasn’t as busy as it would be at an earlier time. I was going to try the croissant with smoked salmon and poached eggs, but due to feeling the effects of donating blood(dizziness, nausea) I decided to have something to boost my blood sugar. I ordered an orange juice, a side of yogurt and granola with fruit, and a croissant to perk me up. S ordered coffee and the eggs benny. The yogurt and granola was delicious, and the croissant was warm and soft. Kind of hard to mess that up, but hey, anything is possible! S liked her eggs benny and the salad that accompanied it. I will say the service is lacking a bit. While the staff are friendly and do what they can, our server had cleared our table and we took out our debit card and cash and waited 20 – 25 minutes for our bill… we had to ask another server for our bill. I would come back, probably on a weekday and try one of their brunch staples when I’m feeling less woozy. I enjoyed what I had, it came to ten bucks and filled me up so hey, can’t complain. Also, another perk about this place is that brunch lasts until four pm; so if you’re not a morning person, fear not! You can stumble here, midday, hungover, whatever, and be satisfied midday!

No wait when I went, so that was nice. I enjoyed my short rib Benny very much since the egg was cooked to perfection … The dirty breakfast my friend ordered was also pretty good. However, I’m not a fan of beans on toast. I’m not British. Haha. Regardless… 3 stars because service was slow even though there weren’t many patrons.(If we split the bill… I would have gotten a parking ticket). We literally made it to my car with a hair’s breadth… A parking authority was about to issue me my ticket before we ran up to him and stopped him in time. The other reasons for deducting a star includes the fact that the music was too loud and the fact that my greens and potatoes were extremely bland(as if they weren’t seasoned at all). Blah.

[Catch of the Day] I love brunch. Unfortunately, I’m not a morning person in the least — especially on a weekend. This poses a problem but Catch 122 seems to be my new solution. We were here for a friend’s birthday lunch with a group of 10. One guy took one for the team and waited in line for an hour while the rest of us took our sweet time making our way down. It was 2pm by the time we were seated. Perfect. Catch 122 is located in the heart of Gastown across from the Woodwards building. It’s surprisingly roomy inside with seating for 50. I loved the rustic décor complete with brick walls — very Gastown-esque. I perused the menu and opted for the smoked salmon benny — can’t go wrong with a classic! My better half went with the Dirty Breakfast. Of the two, my salmon benny was the winner. Eggs cooked perfectly — oozing on the inside and not drenched in Hollandaise. The salmon was moist and fresh. Deliciousness! The Dirty Breakfast was a winner too — the duck fat toast and confit wasn’t something I expected. Personally, I’m just not a fan of beans on my brunch. I also got a sample of the duck confit poutine — flavor country! Service was excellent here. Our server was really friendly and popped by frequently. Value-wise, it isn’t the best deal out there but you get what you pay for. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience and will definitely be back.

I’ve been here for brunch and dinner before and I have to say I like this place. I don’t think I’ve ever had a bad experience with them. Its a pretty solid 4.5 star kinda place for me. I didn’t give this place a 5 star because none of my experience were above and beyond. But the good thing is their service and food was very consistent. I had their egg benny for brunch and i forgot what I had for dinner from this place. But I do remember both times, the food was good. I love their potato hash brown. Even though I was full, that was one thing I told myself I need to finish. It was just that good. Overall, it’s a place I would probably come back considering brunch is served everyday from 8am to 4pm. It’s also close by my work place where I can just walk there.

Aimlessly walking around downtown at around 4pm? Then walk no further and just drop by Catch 122 for an amazing selection of happy hour drinks with various discounts depending on the type(eg. classic cocktails, craft beer, wine, etc). We were lucky enough this time around to «catch» them just as they were introducing a new happy hour price for their classic cocktails. Only $ 7 each! Amazing! You could tell that the server we had LOVED his cocktails, and his enthusiasm and knowledge completely made the evening. We ended up having two classic cocktails each as a result! The bartender was also a huge enthusiast and even came over to our table to chat about the various drinks for a while. Catch 122 also serves a few food items for their happy hour, and while they aren’t very big, the fried chicken that we had contained only three small pieces for $ 10, the taste was amazing — juicy, lightly battered, and well seasoned. But really for happy hour, this place can’t be beat for the amazing selection, awesome service, and great price.
