Kleines, uriges Juwel.

Ordered the daily special, which included a Roast Beef Melt and a Minestrone Soup. The sandwich, oddly enough, was in a hamburger bun and kind of reminded me of an Arby’s Roast Beef Sandwich, in that regard. Overall though, the quality was much better than an Arby’s concoction in that the beef tasted very fresh and had just the right balance of mustard and cheese! The soup was also a star player here in that it had a crazy amount of vegetables, noodles and beans in it! Servers are very friendly so that’s definitely a plus as well.

Great view if you sit outside. This is tucked away inside gastown, therefore, if it wasn’t for the sandwich board on the sidewalk I more likely would’ve missed this place. It is a hole in the wall mom and pop shop that is small in seating, however, it is good for what it is. The prices are very very reasonable. More likely the best deal that you will get in the city. Nicely run by a mom and pop team.

Love this place! It may not look like much but it’s a hidden gem. One of the few restaurants in the area you can get a good lunch under $ 20. My boyfriend and I get the club, turkey melt or a good ol’ ham and cheese. The deli meat is always in good shape, not overly processed or old tasting. Any turkey sandwiches come with real roasted turkey! The lettuce is crisp, the tomatoes are good even in winter. It’s awesome. Also grab a cinnamon roll on your way out.

I’m not sure this is the name of this place but apparently it’s still technically the same place. I like the outdoor patio to hang out so i could people watch as well as keep an eye on the World Cup. The service was really good and enjoyed my overall experience. I had a burger, which was actually really good. I would absolutely recommend it. I like that there were local beers on tap as well.

The Cottage Deli is run by two, very sweet and nice men from Cyprus. They are there from very early in the morning to very late at night, and they make everything from the heart. Their lentil soup is delicious so much so that my three year old always asks for it when I bring her to my office(which is in the same complex). They have a nice selection of food for breakfast and lunch, and you can’t beat the view of the railroad tracks, ocean, and north shore from their upstairs seating area.

Just finished the special Rueben and Chicken Noodle Soup combo special for $ 10. Great! Like others have said, it’s not fancy food, but it’s homemade, and simple. The place looks like something out of a small town, completely ignoring the Vancouver«shiny black table» trend. What sold me was the half carved, juicy looking turkey sitting on the chef’s cutting board. You don’t get much fresher and homemade than that for your club sandwich! It’s also a nice break from the street. As others have said, the view is nice. But for me, it’s the view combined with the fact that it sits in one of those off Water Street clusters of businesses you need to walk off the main road to get to. This makes for a nice break from the city and, for me, felt like more of a break. I think I found my new favorite lunch place!

The perfect old-school hole-in-the-wall sandwich shop, somehow still situated in the middle of water st., with patio seating, and a fantastic view of the mountains and burrard inlet. And trains! What more could you ask for???

The view is to die for as is the club sandwich. They use real turkey, and it’s moist and seasoned. The sandwich is huge, so if you have a little mouth like I do, this is not something you want to eat on a first date.

If I could remember the 60s and 70s better I would say I have been here before! So refreshing for Vancouver where everything interesting is torn down or closed prematurely. Adorable owner, the cherry pie rocks and now he knows how to make a London Fog!(We taught him) Brick walls and a view of the north shore and the sea-ferry and trains.

Great little hideaway! The food is simple, but there are lots of choices and everything we’ve tried so far has been delicious. It’s cozy and simple — kinda reminds you of gramma’s house.

Walking along the beautiful Gastown we needed a cheap place to eat. We saw this little deli in a brick business complex. The first thing I noticed was the homey feel of the joint. They make sandwiches that you find in your very own kitchen and at a homely pace. The owners are always there, at least it looks that way, and the staff is very friendly. I loved the simplicity of the food, no frills, just simple. I will say that the food doesn’t burst with flavor or have that artificially laced fast food feel. Eating all of this while absorbing the industrial view of the river was charming. I was joyed to eat here and take a mental nap, resting my tired feet. May I add the the bathrooms are out of the way and a glimpse into the gritty graffiti-ed soul of Vancouver.

Tucked away down a side step of Water Street sits Cottage Deli Soup and Sandwich. My hunt for good baklava forces me to order it if I see it and this was none too shabby. They also serve a plethora of homey dishes, including pie, soup and a variety of tasty vegetarian and other-wise sandwiches, freshly made. The tipping point for this café is the view of the mountains and the train station! I love trains, I don’t know what it is, I think they remind me of Europe and so did this wee deli, if not the food, then definitely the atmosphere. Very reasonable prices, the cheapest I’ve seen in the area for sure!

Probably one of the cheapest lunches in gastown, even with a view of the mountains. I’ve never seen fruit juice for 1.75 at any other food joint. Unfortunately, the service was surprisingly slow.
