This is a smaller location that is attached to a business building and only open until 4 pm. It is a shoe box inside, therefore, seating is non existent. It’s a grab and go situation. They have a small sampling of pastries that their Main Street location carries. There’s no real need for this considering that there are other coffee shops within the same block but this is more of a branding situation. I had a decafe latte to go and a scone. Service was friendly. H

Skipped breakfast one morning and needed a quick fix to get me through the work day until lunch time. Some coworkers suggested grabbing a scone from here. I tried the cheddar and jalapeño scone. Yikes was it heavy on the pepper. There were a couple bites where I actually wasn’t overwhelmed by pepper and could taste the cheese. The cheese part was great but the pepper ruined it for me. About halfway through eating it, my stomach started turning knots. I guess it was just too heavy for me. As for the scone itself, the texture and size were great and it was baked well. I’d still be willing to try it again. Next time, I’ll go for one of the sweet ones instead.

I hit this place up since it’s been on my list of bakeries to pay a visit too. 3 stars because A-OK is exactly how I feel when I think about this place. I had the chocolate + pear crumble thingy and the lemon ricotta muffin. The muffin was just ok. I think I like the ones from Café Artigiano better, judge me if you will. The chocolate + pear crumble thing started off really bad. It was SO dry and I couldn’t really taste anything. About half way through though it suddenly became AMAZING so I don’t really know what was up with that. I don’t know. I just don’t know.

Apple cheddar scone tasted like apple pie with a slice of cheese. It was huge so I’ve saved some for later. Delicious. This is a takeout bakery with one table for two out front.

What can I say? It’s definitely easy to miss this place. The storefront is very small but they offer a wide selection of items. Coffee, sandwiches, croissants, scones, cookies, muffins, etc. I didn’t go to Crème de la Crumb for coffee. I went for the baked goods. The only problem was that the counter was pretty much empty when I walked in. It was already 11:00 am! Not sure what their hours were that day but was a bit shocked to see that. The cookies are $ 1.95 but none were displayed. Asked if they had any available and the person behind the counter told me they were… and opened the fridge and pulled out a tupperware-like plastic container filled with cookies. That quickly killed my fantasy of freshly-baked-straight-out-of-the-oven cookies. Proceeded to the scones. I mean, everyone raves out their scones, no? The vanilla bean+pear scone was unavailable so I opted for the apple+cheddar. It was good but certainly not anything to die for. Will I return? Yes. But only when they have a better selection of baked goods. Oh yeah, +0.5 stars for the 2 friendly people behind the counter! Solid 3.5 stars.

Could possibly be the best scone(s) I have ever had… ever. I came in on a Friday morning to pick up 4 scones to take to my daughter in law who lives in Seattle… the scones are her fav Will be heading back down. The location is challenging to find but worth it

The pastries are good and if the intention is to get pastries, I’d recommend it. But if you’re there for coffee, I’d be weary. I ordered a coffee and the barista forgot to make it. When they realized, they proceeded to make the wrong drink. The experience & communication behind the counter is a bit lacking. Considering the Waterfront area has a large concentration of coffee shops, I won’t be going back to this one.

Nestled in the center of the 400-block of Granville Street under the shadow of the hulking monstrosity that is Trees Organic, Crème de la Crumb is a wonderful express coffee shop that offers superb customer service, delicious pastries, plenty of pleasantly awkward social interactions*, and the best coffee around. If you plan on setting up camp, this is certainly not the place to do so. There is no indoor seating and only one table outside. If you are like me, taking one break every three-or-so months and only being released from captivity in brief intervals to run errands, this is the perfect pit stop, as there is no temptation to «just sit down for a second». Lower your red flags– despite its express nature, I can guarantee that you will never feel like you and your coffee are being clinically dispatched to make way for the next customer(looking at you, Starbucks). Should you become a regular– and you should, you will undoubtedly appreciate the amiable mien of the omnipresent Kevin, an unshakably polite Irish fellow who you can’t resist wanting to be friends with. I see that I am not the first to sing praise over Kevin’s character, and I’m sure I won’t be the last. It looks like Diane has moved on, but her replacement, Ashley(?), is a sweetheart. As for the pastries– if you’re a scone-lover, look no further. The scones were actually what first brought me here, and they haven’t failed me yet. My only disappointment is that the strawberry lemonade scone was only available in the summer. Heavens above was that scone ever unbelievable. If you’re reading this, Crème de la Crumb management, please add that to your permanent roster. Why bench your best player? I would absolutely recommend adding Crumb to your daily routine. Maybe I’ll see you there. *It really is quite tight in there, so maladroit transactions with strangers are unavoidable. Who knows, you may find yourself awkwardly grinding up on your future husband/wife one day. Enjoy the congestion, it adds to the charm.

No doubt they’ve got yummy stuff, I’m a fan of their Main st location as this DT one is just an express one. Just one table to sit. A bit cramped, more than 5 ppl would be pushing it before feeling claustrophobic. A great place for the working ppl or who live here, but not a place to hang or drive to, not much parking.

Hidden little gem across the street from work. People are bang on about the scones, the coffee is great, and some of the other items on the menu are great, too(the Chicken Curry wrap is way better than the beef terriyaki, fyi). I just finished a cinnamon bun that was pretty great. Most of All, Kevin and Diane are there every morning, doing a great job! Really lovely people who care about how your day is going. If it had seating for colder months, it might be perfect, but then maybe it would lose some charm.

Oh Crème de la Crumb, I’m drooling just remembering your almond milk London Fogs… And the FOOD. Urgh, just stop it. Too good. I’ve eaten many a delicious item from here, probably too many to name seeing as my previous job ordered a catered lunch from them once a month! I have had the pear and vanilla bean scone, but I have to say it didn’t wow me quite as much as everyone else! It was definitely moist, but a little undersweet for my expectations; once I adjusted to that it was great! The breakfast bagels are awesome — they’re well filled(no skimping here!) and extremely filling — I didn’t even want lunch! Speaking of lunch… Ohhhh my god the tuna sandwich… I would pledge my first, second, and maybe thirdborn children for an unlimited supply. It’s the pickled ginger that really takes it over the top — I mean, sure, the tuna and green onion mix is perfectly seasoned, and the ciabatta is always soft and fresh, but the addition of the ginger just makes me salivate even thinking about it! The tomato bocconcini is also delicious — the tomatoes have a slightly vinegary taste that compliments the smoothness of the cheese beautifully. I find the baguette a little too crunchy, usually, but maybe I just have a delicate mouth! I highly recommend stopping in here — you really can’t go wrong, whatever you order!

Hidden in a midstreet corner(paradox, I know), this is a cute, humble café. Might not be the best environment for claustrophobes, but you can quickly buy something and sit outside. Huge scones with a delightful crunchy crumb and fluffy interior(what I strive for in my scones). Go early because they sell out quick! I went around lunchtime and was too late for the famed pear and vanilla bean scone. Cranberry orange white chocolate would have to do. It was still yummy but a bit too sweet for my liking. Mocha was decent but still a bit too sweet even though I asked for reduced sugar. Very fair prices too which is always welcoming. I will definitely be back for more!

I used to work near by and love their Latte so much, but I was trying to save money at that time, so I couldn’t afford to buy a cup of latte every morning. Than I got transferred to another location for work and I swear I miss their latte so much! 2 years later I got transferred back and after few times of try I was very disappointed. The taste has changed! I’m not sure if the owner got changed or not but I totally felt I’m buying a cup of «warm milk». Sadly, I can afford a cup of latte every morning now…

A teensy shop off Pender squeezes out some tasty treats, sandwiches, and lattes. All that alone would be charming enough, but the gem of Crème de la Crumb might be its prices, which appear to have been brought in from Calgary, or Omaha, or wherever reasonable pricing is still found. $ 7 for a gigantic salad?! $ 1.50 for a homemade croissant? $ 2 and change for a vanilla bean and pear scone?! Yes to all, yes please. The vanilla bean and pear scone is a hulking beast of a treat and loaded with fresh pear. They have some cookies on the menu that sounded appealing, but all were out – my sense is this is a scone emporium, but rather than call them ‘scones’, let’s call them massive saucers of all things delicious, and no shortage of butter. It’s a crowded block for your coffee and scone dollars(Trees, Take Five, Starbucks & Timmy are a block away) but Crème de la Crème will give you way more your money than anyone else around – fresh ingredients, fast service, and value-priced pastries? A winner in my books.

Decided to update my review after I’ve been back a few times. The vanilla bean and pear scone killed me. It was so good I died. SO. GOOD. It was moist and tasty. And because I got it at 7:30am, it was still warm from the oven! The vanilla steamed milk and lavender steamed milk don’t taste like anything at all but that’s fine because I’m totally in love with their scones and cupcakes now.

I popped in to check it out bc my friend told me about their scones. In at 9:00am, but they didn’t have any apple cheddar scones, so I opted for the vanilla bean pear. You could see the vanilla bean and quality of ingredients they use in the scone, which had nice big chunks of pear, but sadly the scone dough was not very good. Aside from the pear, the scone itself was a bit chewy and had parts which were a bit«wet» from the pear chucks. It also left that baking soda feel in my mouth. Perhaps the dough was overworked or too much liquid, either that or it was a day old scone re-baked(which I don’t think it was?) Maybe it was an off day. I’ll return to give another scone a try.

Do you like scones? If not, I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised by this place. Their scones are epic! I was never a fan of scones given the dry nature of them but after going to their Broadway Green location I have changed my mind about this tea time pastry. In fact, it’s not just their scones but most if not all of their baked goods are made in house same day. The tea selection is great and the coffees aren’t too bad. They seem to have a local following of regulars as well. I only take off a star given the size of this shop and lack of seating space. I think we need to stop perpetuating this grab and go North American culture where we don’t want to sit down anywhere because we’re too busy looking busy. It’s also disappointing that their scones sell out like hotcakes leaving me craving a carb filled triangle of goodness.

Ahhh… scones. How do you pronounce it anyway? I usually call it «scones» but my British cousins call it «scons». Go here if you’re looking for: 1. Scones 2. Take-away This place is tiny and the standing area can comfortably fit about 5 people waiting to order without feeling crammed. There are two tables outside if you can’t wait to devour your pastry right there. We brought the scones back to our hotel and warmed them up in the microwave(yay for hotel room kitchenette!) for about 15 seconds. The outer part of the scone was crumbly and yet crusty to hold it all together. Stabbing my fork through the perfectly browned outer scone, the buttery crumbs scattered onto the plate. And inside the scone was a totally different texture that was so soft that it felt like I was eating freshly baked pear bread(I got the vanilla bean and pear scone). There were also actual pear chunks inside the scone. My husband got the cranberry, orange, and white choc scone which he loved as well. The scone sizes are huge and will fill you. So keep that in mind if you are planning on having a full lunch few hours later.

When I was here last time I was 10 minutes too late as they now close at 4:30pm instead of the usual 5:00pm. So today I seized the golden opportunity on my unintentional walk in down town to check this place out. I walked in, and was surprised to find how small this place is. Claustrophobics, you are not going to like it here. The baked goods and food items were limited. I saw some scones, croissants, one square of carrot cake, and some sandwiches. That’s it. They do sell beverages. I paid my $ 2.75(before tax) vanilla bean and pear scone and left. Service was friendly. The girl who helped me out was cheery on this snowy March day. This is a good scone. Appearance wise, it looks dry. The whole treat has tiny black«dots» all over. I am glad to find the grounded vanilla bean was mixed very evenly in the batter. Taste wise I like the dry crunchy crust. The cubed pears further add texture to this alredy-complex delight. The scone is soft on the inside. To my second surprise, the scone was not doughy or floury(but a little on the dense side). I’ve never had so much texture in one single scone — it’s like lighting a small fire cracker. I like how it’s not too sweet. This scone is definitely unique. I personally like the scone from next door better(Tree Organic Coffee).

Oh pear and vanilla bean scone, I will follow you to the ends of the earth. My husband will follow your apple-cheddar counterpart, but what does he know? The oh-so-gooey vanilla bean cinnamon roll is also a clear winner, but I wasn’t really a fan of the mango coconut scone(who would’ve thought right? cuz that combo sounds like a clear winner! le sigh), and the chocolate cardamom pear cake. But regardless, I’ve already been back twice this month(mostly thanks to the fact that this location is very transit friendly), and look forward to more summer days where I’m wandering downtown holding my beloved pear and vanilla bean scone. swoon!

One word: SCONES. Coconut Lime and apple cheddar. Put in mouth, chew, swallow, die and go to heaven. That is all.
