This is more for historical reasons more than anything else, but I thought that this downtown gem was AMAZING. Located behind the luggage in the former Sears store, they served some really great fresh food for an amazing deal(considering its location)! The interior felt fairly upscale for a Sears too. Have had difficulty finding a similar gem downtown since it closed.

Not quite a hidden gem, but definitely a hidden semi-precious stone. This is one of my go-to place to eat when meeting up with friends for lunch. It’s central in downtown(Sears 4th floor) so easy place for everybody to meetup. The food is a good mix of everything, it has a separate sandwich, grill & pasta counters, so chances are something will perk your interest. Food is always fresh and made to order. Price-wise, expect to spend $ 10-$ 15 for a decent lunch.

Heard recently on the papers that this Sears location is closing November 2012. That will certainly be the end of Cuiscene. I will dearly miss this lunch spot and their daily specials. :(

This place is very inexpensive, everything is made fresh for you, and the salad that I got was fresh. Those were the only redeeming factors for what I ate 30 mins ago. Best way to describe it is upscale hospital food. — Angus burger, frozen patty that tasted slightly frozen. — Pulled pork sandwich with red pepper onion relish had hints of ginger in it. Why oh why would you do something like that? Re-up is so much better. — Fries were frozen and tasted like freezer burn. The only thing good about them was that they were crispy. Salt and ketchup couldn’t rescue it. Maybe the other stuff is better, but not what I had today. Better than the Hudson room at least.

Ok… Dec. 23rd… xmas is coming up fast on us… and I decided upon eating here for a late lunch with the fiancé after she got done work. It is definitely something you have to look for to find… it’s not going to jump out at you… The food and the prices were good… but… at 1:30pm the place was deserted… and not just of customers. but staff and food too. ½ of everything was shut down… there wasn’t any beef for a roast beef sandwich… was a little disappointing. Will I write the place off… probably not, I’ll try another time when there isn’t a holiday season around. But really… shouldn’t you be prepared for feeding some last minute shoppers? Hmmm…

A secret downtown favourite for quick comfort food on a budget. The burgers are great, the chicken strips come with either fries or a big salad(which I’m a fan of), and the sandwiches are freshly made. The only question is WHY this is tucked way up on the fourth floor behind luggage? Oh well, fast, friendly and delicious…

Ok, so I went back here last week and my friends and we had a wine tasting with the head Chef!!! He is so awesome! He’s taking his Sommelier training and will be one of only a handful of Chef’s de Cuisine in the America’s to have that level of education. The wine was exceptional; he tours wineries and buys direct. Sadly I can’t buy it in stores. The food was again super tasty, healthy, and visually appealing. Such a bargain. In April he is planning to add Michelin star items to the menu for only $ 13 a plate. I can hardly wait!!!
