I just popped by today for the first time and really liked it. Really friendly owner, you can tell he cares about the food and his customers. Loved the unpretentious décor, and simple, yummy and well-priced food. The old school music gives me a feeling of nostalgia, like kids in the 60s would have ridden their bikes to the place and grabbed a coke amongst the older men sipping coffee, bitching about the state of the country. Too much? ;). Ill be back! Come check it out. Can’t go wrong with a fresh shredded roast turkey sandwich and homemade soup.

New management took over this summer and they’re very friendly but I can’t help thinking the food hasn’t been quite as good. Still decent, don’t get me wrong, but portions have shrunk and they’ve upped the mayo in the egg salad :-(

This place is not bad. From the outside it looks kinda sketchy. in the sense of it not looking like the food would be good. However I was pleasantly surprised. It wasn’t the most amazing place ever but it was good. I ordered a BLT and I have to say there was a lot of bacon on there which I like! The service was good, patient and thorough. I will be back here for my morning breakfast a few times. Oh and by the way if you order a BLT make sure to ask for it to be toasted. they didn’t toast my bread: P

I don’t know why this place is «Dean’s Deli & Bakery», it’s actually called«Café Dean». Anyhow, the best BLT you can find in the city for $ 6.23(incl. tax). Also, the soup of the day is great as long as it is the chicken noodle soup.

The best kind of sandwich is the kind you don’t make yourself! I often forget how pleasing a sandwich can be. Its simple, its tasty and its pretty darn healthy. So all last week I was training in the dowtown core and right below my office sat Café deans. If I was just walking past I probably never would have stopped. But working above them tempted me to be lazy and hang my hat close to work. The resturant is pretty plain. The décor is not very exciting but when it comes to décor as long as its not dirty it doesn’t matter right? They always have the radio playing so its not like a silent place and they have tons of tables sothey can accomdate lots of people. now the food. The sandwiches… I am going to miss this place when I have to go back to my own store. but thankfully I am only an extra 4 blocks away: p The sandwiches are so tasty. they have tons of variety and they really fill the thing with meat. and not your run of the mill crappy subway over processed meat. They have fresh raost beef, fresh turkey, freash ham all made in store and all super juicy and tasty. the staff is super friendly and seem to enjoy thier work. I recommend it for sure!

tasty turkey, fresh roasted. Only wish(like other reviewers) is that they had more than just plain pre sliced breads. Other than that this is a good spot for a great price

Great, fast lunch spot downtown that the masses have not yet discovered, even during the lunch rush. Friendly staff who remember you if you go back more than once, good location, lots of seating, very clean place. They roast their own chicken and turkey in house, and make two soups every day from scratch. All sandwiches include a soup, salad or cookie in the price, although they have recently changed the menu board to say that it costs $ 1.00 more for one of those to be added. When doing this, they reduced all sandwich prices on the board by $ 1.00, so it’s really the same. The most expensive sandwich there is $ 5.85. Great deal! My only ‘complaint’ is that it’s too bad the bread is just plain Dempsters sandwich bread. But ask for it to be grilled and you don’t notice as much!

Not a bad option. I had a chai latte and a sausage roll. Nice, clean place with wifi and friendly staff.

Angel’s review is bang on. I’ve been eating there for a few months. They’re known for their sandwiches, but also serve sushi. The bread is pretty basic, but the quality ingredients make up for it. A solid soup/sandwich lunch comes to about $ 7.50.

We stopped here for lunch while in Vancouver for a couple of days. Both of us had turkey sandwiches, which were humongous, but the meat was a bit dry. I was also kind of sad that the bread was basic pre-sliced sandwich bread. They did have homemade chicken soup, which, while slightly watery, did have a lot of flavor. I opted to dip my sandwich in the soup. Prices were very reasonable.

This sandwich restaurant/deli/bakery is a few steps away from my condo. I don’t consider many places to be hidden gems in the city but CAFEDEAN is certainly one of them. This little place has amazing prices, delicious home-made hearty soups, and some of the best sandwiches I have ever eaten. They roast their own meats daily and for that reason their roasted turkey sandwich is OUTOFTHISWORLD(make sure to get cranberry sauce on it). The egg salad sandwich is also a steal and soooo delicious! The portions are extremely generous for the price and the service is super friendly. The owners are so nice that they even wave at me when they see me walk by on my way to work every day. Forget about SUBWAY and give this local deli a try! You won’t be disappointed.
