I usual stop by here when I’m having my car detailed just down the road. It’s always good but I’ve never taken the time to write about it, until today. I started with a chai tea that was very tasty. I then ordered a palak paneer with a side of raita and a garlic naan. The spices were perfect and a generous amount of cheese. This is probably the best garlic naan I’ve ever had. Very fluffy and perfectly cooked. The portions were very generous and I ended up ordering a roti to go and took half of the veggie dish home with me. I had them add a rasimalai(yummy desserts) to the order which I look forward to a little later on. The entire bill totalled $ 18 which I found very reasonable for all the items I ordered. The service was terrific and I highly recommend giving this place a try. I’ve worked and eaten in many Indian restaurants in Vancouver and this is one of the best in this area.

We went there in Ramadan craving for some authentic Pakistani food after a whole day of walking & sightseeing while fasting. And we were quite pleased with their service and quality of food. We ordered the combo bbq platter, it was delicious, freshly made ofd the grill but my only concern is that the quantity was very less for a platter, it was served on a bed of sautéed onions & the serving looked like a leftover more than a platter. We had to order a second one. Also ordered nihari & chicken karahi which were made to perfection not unlike some of the other desi restaurants which use a lot of yoghurt/cream/canned tomato purée. Topped it all with some chai & the very innovative & yummy gulab jamun&ice cream combo.

Awesome authentic food from the Indian subcontinent. We went for the tandoori food. It was hands down one of the BEST I have ever eaten, comparable to my mum’s and great aunt’s bbq.(I’m Indian and They were both spectacular cooks! I can’t speak for the curries as I haven’t tried them. Unfortunate they often have only one server/cashier at a time so service is slooooooow!

Amazing food, great service! Very authentic. Keep it up, way to go! We were visiting from Portland, Oregon and saw Unilocal reviews and thought of giving it a try. This restaurant is only 8 months old but looks people in the kitchen know what they are doing.

Food tastes awesome with great portion. Price is fair for the quality of food. Will for sir come again. Just hoping that the owner doesn’t change the recipe!

This is the closest you get to Pakistani food in Vancouver(At least in Vancouver area). The Chicken tikka /Tandoori is the highlight here. Order it with a garlic naan and you are set. The curries and Biryani are reasonably priced.(Not amazingly tasty — maybe its just me). But I’ll definitely return for the Tikka /Tandoori /Kebabs & Freshly baked Garlic Naan Food: Good Service :Ok Ambiance: Casual Worth the price: Yes

I was glad to find Mark’s awesome review and other review got me coming here. It was a great experience. My sister and I went here on a rainy sunday afternoon for Indian food. Dewan E-Khass is a small Indian/Pakistani restaurant on Fraser which has limited seating(there are 7 tables). Very quiet and clean restaurant I have to say. It was odd being served by Russian waitress at first, but she did a really good job. My water got refilled often without mentoning and she checked making sure we were doing okay. Therefore service was professional and fast. We got Mogo($ 5.99), Chicken Curry($ 9.99) and Masala Chai($ 1.90) and they were all tasty and fresh. First, Mogo(cassava fries) was crispy and delicious. It was already seasoned a bit and enhanced even more flavour with chutney. Yum. Chicken Curry was so delicious. We ordered it as medium spicy and the Indian spices were so flavourful. It comes with rice or naan so we picked naan and couldn’t stop dipping curry sauce to naan. Naan bread was unbelievably huge, soft and crispy. One of the perfect naan breads ever! Chai tea was also good. We were blown away by the service and food. I have to say it was a five star experience. The only downside would be the small seating spaces.

Possibly the best Indian/Pakistani in the Vancouver area. Vij’s does not count because it is not authentic, its more fusion than anything. Fraser was sorely lacking in good food, despite being an Indian hub in the city. No more. This is authentic, if that is what you are looking for, and it is damn good. Legitimate spice. Will definitely return.

* New Pakistani with promise * This spot has turned over again and the new restaurant is called Dewan-E-Khass. They have put up new signage and made the interior quite welcoming. It feels less hole-in-the-wall than previous restaurants in the spot have felt. The menu has a mixture of Pakistani and Indian cuisine. I ordered the lunch special vegetable biryani($ 7.99) which came with a complimentary side of raita. The spicing on the biryani was spot on. The complex seasoning profile highlighted the vegetables mixed in nicely with a very pleasant level of heat. The veggies were cooked perfectly so that they had a slight chew to them instead of just being mushy. The complimentary raita served to cool the spice level and the small bits of vegetables in the raita added nice texture as well. Overall a lovely lunch for a very reasonable price. Photos: and Service was extremely professional and on top of things too. Water was regularly refilled without asking, and done so with a smile. I will definitely be back to work my way through the rest of the menu to see how everything else is. Based upon the biryani things look promising!
