Veggie samosa 80 cents: It was hot and and delicious! I am definitely coming back for this. Chicken Samosa $ 1.50: It was okay. I don’t think it was worth the price considering it was smaller than the veggie one. It contained grounded up chicken mixed with something else… bread crumbs? corn meal? so it tasted like powder. This is definitely a pass for me. I would like to come back and try some of their other dishes as well.

Fantastic place for samosas! Very tasty, decent size and under a dollar for each. I’ve picked up large quantities before for dinner parties and potlucks and they were a huge hit! That’s all I bring for potluck now. Highly recommended!

This is my secret take-out samosa source for potlucks and parties. Hot, fresh, and so so cheap. Perfectly spiced chickpea and potato filling with a lovely chutney — they’re always a hit. I usually leave with a little box of barfi too because what is life without Indian sweets.

I followed my nose in to this store this afternoon. The place was clean and the sweets display were well organized and looked delicious but I was craving something savory and the smell from the kitchen was excellent. I ordered some veggie fajitas to go and sat down to wait. Shortly the cook stepped out to offer me a treat whole I waited. I have no idea what I ate but it was delicious! My pakoras were ready shortly after do I paid and left. The staff was friendly and the pakoras were delicious. I’ll definitely be back!

Slow today. I got cold samosa. My Nana bread was not ready. Meal took too long to make. What is going on here. Bad service this weekend. I have been here before and disappointed today. Be careful about going here. Go some place else. Not helpful. Now 30 minutes. No food. Finally. It shows up. Terrible meal tonight. I will now be back. I have been here 20 previous times and not impressed with this meal at all. Go somewhere else. Be careful. I finally ate after 40 minutes. The lady was manipulating me and had the cook serve me. Worst meal of 2015 and I eat out everyday. Going to eat elsewhere. Gone down hill.

Good take out menu. Good masala chai. Just couple chairs to sit down. Mostly for take out. Mix of Indian and western customers. I’m veggie so it’s good as there’s several options.

Stopped here for some takeout after buying fabric at Rokko down the street. Butter chicken + rice + naan was $ 10, which seemed steep(especially compared to New Novelty a couple of blocks down), but it was very high quality and a huge portion that ended up being 2 very satisfying meals. Really delicious chicken– very intensely flavoured. A teeny bit on the sweet/tomato side for me, but the rest of my family thought it was perfect, and the spice blend was really good. Also got samosas to take home. 60 cents each, though they charge extra for tamarind sauce. These are the best(non fancy place) samosas I’ve ever had. The pastry is thin and crispy and non greasy, and the filling is perfectly spiced. The take out menu is relatively small, so I don’t know if this will become a go to for a full Indian dinner, but it’s a great option in the neighbourhood.

Love the $ 0.60 veggie samosas, they’re always hot and fresh and have just the perfect amount of spice.

I am a huuge fan. This is my go-to place for samosa and pakora cravings. They are delish and the value is incredible. The staff are sweet too, and you may be offered a treat while waiting for your order. Okay, I am thinking I gotta make a samosa run tomorrow.

This is the review for the sweet shop. They have my favorite kind of Jelabie(sp?). The orange kind, not the yellow kind. They also have a lot of packaged cookies and biscuits to take home. Lady at the til was helpful. Prices were very decent.

«Samosas: a punch to the face that starts your train ride to flavourtown.» This review is strictly about the SAMOSAS. Rarely do you find something so good and so cheap. The Asian in me just gets so damn excited when I pick up a dozen(or two) of these deliciously awesome pockets of potato spiced up love. Note: I hate samosas which are all thick skin and very minimal filling. Samosas here have a very thin outer skin, and a bounty of potato mixed filling. The potatoes have a wonderful waxy texture that is perfect for samosas. The right amount and mix of spices feels like a refreshing punch to your face when you have that first bite. Yes, you are indeed in flavourtown and all of your taste buds are invited. But wait, you gotta have the sauce. A sweet, but not too sweet tamarind sauce adds yet another punch of flavour on your lips. The kicker: they are 3 for $ 1. Yes that is correct. 3 for $ 1. They’ve always been fresh every time I’ve come in and ordered them. Have them fresh and they are amazing. I always have to eat one in the car ride to wherever I’m going. The smell just engulfs the vehicle, so I can’t help it. Bring them home and reheat them up, still good. Recommendations: bring a dozen to your next party, picnic, or social function, and be the hero of the occasion. Don’t’ forget to get a sauce. Share the Samosas love.

Rating just for the physical part, eating will TBD ;) For this hood, pretty modern décor & clean Indian resto, date-worthy. Service was friendly as i was browsing. Nice, leather comfortable seating. Their sweet bakery next door is quite enticing, will have to try next time. Kinda neat how it joins in the back, fr dining room to bakery. parking though is quite challenging here.

Best. Samosas. Ever. I went to Dhaliwal Sweets for the samosas, but left with samosas AND a pound of assorted sweets as well. The veggie samosas are just spicy enough to heat up my mouth but not quite over the pain threshold. They’re not greasy like a lot of places I’ve tried & the best thing? The price: THREE for a DOLLAR. I’ve never seen them that cheap anywhere else. Don’t forget to ask for sauce when you buy them – the sweet tamarind(?) based sauce really goes perfectly with the dense, spicy potato filling in the samosas. Now on to the sweets: I have had barfi a few times, a few other places & never really liked it. I find it usually tastes like old evaporated milk, with a gritty texture & so often avoided it, until now. Dhaliwal Sweets barfi(burfi, they spell it?) is sooo good. Creamy, fudgey & fresh tasting. I only wish they labelled the trays of gooey goodness better so I knew the names of each kind. I had a plain one, some coconut-encrusted gulab jamun(I think), a pistachio barfi & some ground nut balls. The last one doesn’t really sound that appetizing, but again, I have no idea what they were called. I will call them yummy nut balls. The yummy nut balls were a little dry, but by halfway through one, I was hooked because they just tasted so good. The sweets are not as crazy-cheap as the samosas – they range from about $ 5 – 8 per pound. We got EIGHTEEN samosas for the price of a pound of barfi. But still, that was a lot of good food for the money.

This place rates full stars for its samosas alone. I hear you can now neat-in here as well and will need to try it out. This has been my main place for samosas and sweets and it is one of the best places anywhere.

My new budget take-out place. $ 10 for a heaping, steaming plate of butter chicken. Add in $ 1.25 per naan and it’s a great meal in. Includes tax!
