Gross. Some of the worst sushi I’ve ever eaten. The rolls are cut so unevenly and they taste like they came out a plastic container from Safeway. Avoid.

This place is Chinese owned and is a decent place to come for a quick and inexpensive lunch. It’s right around the corner from my office so it’s a place we come to often. I love the staff, namely the owner. She’s such a sweet lady and is from the same hometown as we are from in China, so that was a coincidence. She always strikes up a conversation and she’s very friendly. Food wise, it’s obviously not the best sushi so don’t come if you’re expecting something spectacular. However, it’s decent sushi and worth the price you’re paying. In the warmer months you’ll find a line out the door. It’s a VERY small restaurant so either call and get take out or come early during peak hours. Try their special rolls. They’re really not bad. I’m a fan.

This place isnt bad, but its not good either. I’ve been here only twice. They cut the sashimi very sloppily and they’re never very consistent with size. The rolls have too much rice. The only reason I’m giving this three stars is because it’s cheap and they come out fast. I wouldn’t come here if I wanted anything delicious. It’s a place to go to if you’re craving sushi and don’t have high standards.

Two of us ordered chirashi don for lunch. Chirashi don is assorted sashimi on rice. ALL of the other small/cheap sushi places I’ve been to in Vancouver offer at least 5 different kinds of sashimi on their chirashi. For over ten dollars each we got a small bowl of rice, 2 pieces of tuna, 2 slivers of salmon and 2 tiny pieces of shrimp. So disappointing and pricey for what we got. Their rolls look decent in the pictures but I don’t think I’ll be back here any time soon.

We liked this place with their fusion sushi until we witnessed the chef malpractice hygiene by not washing his hands after borderline picking his nose.

Don’t go to Domo sushi if you’re looking for a nice and quiet place, a romantic dinner, a pretty white clothing interior… you’ll find none of this at Domo. On the other hand, if you’re looking for amazing and cheap sushi, definitely go to Domo sushi! Visiting Vancouver for a few days and sushi lover as I am, I checked a few Unilocal reviews and decided to go to Domo for lunch. The staff was friendly, and the sushi was prepared fresh and quickly. I had a spicy tuna roll and a dragon roll, payed 13 dollars(I might as well say I payed nothing!), walked to the park nearby and sat in heaven as I had every bite of my sushi. The fish was incredibly fresh and tasty, the rice perfectly cooked, sticky and at room temperature as it should be(no repulsive fridge taste here), the spices rightly balanced. so gooooood!

Staying in Vancouver for a few days and I have already been to Domo twice now. Tonight i had the Buddha Roll and the Spicy Veggie and they were by far the best veggie rolls I have ever had. I will likely have it once more before heading back to Calgary.

Their blatant disregard for presentation(ie. evenly cut rolls, rolls are are fully wrapped in seaweed as opposed to partially oozing out) is impressive. That said, they’re right by my office and they’re fast and pretty cheap. You get what you pay for.

Not bad, Domo! Not bad! I’ve been a fan of your Combo B – California Roll, Salmon and Tuna Rolls, and Miso Soup. It’s great for $ 6.95. They have a really small place with limited seating. Most people order for take-out, but they do have tables for 2 – 4 people, and«bar» seats by the window. I glanced at the other reviews and perhaps not everything is great here. Avoid the Bento boxes… Noted. If you’re stranded in the neighbourhood with nowhere to eat, you can always try their Combo B! It’s the only item on the menu that I can vouch for, so far!

We ordered from JustEat,(as we have done several times for this location), and after an HOUR past the expected delivery date, we called asking where the food was. The lady on the phone kept arguing that the food had been dropped off(when it clearly had not). We kept asking as to when our food will arrive, and she kept insisting that our order was already here. NEVERAGAIN! I obviously won’t be wasting my time trying to haggle with the restaurant as to if we’ve received our order or not.

Such a great little place with an astounding variety of sushi. I love their Domo Special roll and their new colorful rolls they keep adding to the men. The staff is super friendly and barely a year has past since I’ve been their customer they treat me like a friend. The service is fast, clean and satisfactory and the food is always delicious.

Better than sushigo around the corner by far. Great little place with friendly staff who always seem to remember my order. I would eat here every day if I could!

My go-to comfort food is their golden californian roll. Its a deep fried californian roll i get it without cucumber or salmon eggs on top, its super tasty everytime! Staff are friendly and gladly make changes to my order for me. Its good value for money

I love this place! Staff is friendly, the sushi rolls are great!(Golden California Roll is the best I’ve had at a ‘cheaper’ establishment). I work across the street so it’s really convenient to call and then walk over to pick up my lunch. No complaints!

The worst chicken bento I’ve ever had. The few pieces of skinless, boiled chicken breast were bland. Nothing like the crispy grilled goodness served just about everywhere else. The california roll was disgusting. The rice was mushy — so ladened with water that it didn’t taste or feel like rice anymore. If the rice had been seasoned at all, the wetness washed it away. The filling was even mushier with an overdose of mayonnaise. The flecks of red colour were the only indication that there was imitation crab in there. I certainly could’t feel or taste any. The lettuce salad was average and accompanied by a scant amount of skinny, dry noodles that didn’t taste good at all. While this place is cheap for downtown prices, I wish I spent the extra $ 2 at Sushi-go a half block away. Cheap is irrelevant when the food is inedible. On the way home, I picked up rolls from a different sushi joint to make me forget this lunch. I gave this place a second try and basically wasted more time and money. Domo Sushi is what happens when non-Japanese people pretend to know how to cook Japanese food.

Decent place does have seating which is a plus if you don’t want takeout. Very fast takeout. Just be aware the crab in the sushi is drenched in mayo(heads up for those of you that don’t like mayo). Great, convenient, lots of choices(more than other places with similar price range) friendly and family run :)

After I wrote a not-so-stellar review on Domo Sushi I had a couple of other friends indicate that they thought it was actually a pretty decent sushi place. So, I decided to give it one more chance. I’ve now gone in a few times, just to make sure switching out my previous review wasn’t a mistake, but have been pretty much pleased every time since. Although, I haven’t ordered any of the crab-filled rolls because of the fact that they’re brimming with artificial crab meat, I haven’t experienced any mushy prawns, or other totally off-putting issues since my first visit. So, I’m thinking it was just a bad day. Either that or it’s just the combos, which I also refuse to order because of my first visit. I’m really enjoying the mango and avocado rolls. Although, I think the fish might come from frozen, it’s still decent tasting for the area, quick, and the staff are super quick and polite. So, I’m not going to rave about Domo, but it’s decent all around.

Dropped by during Saturday so it wasn’t too busy. I’d give a rating of 3.5, but I’m feeling more generous. Pros: presentation(wooden sushi geta), price, take-out. Cons: little seating; the fish isn’t flow in from Japan. Price made me happy enough, good variety, and had enough to keep me full. Better than a few other local places in my opinion. Is run by a Chinese family, but they do a good job. If you’re getting sushi on a wooden geta, don’t expect to pay the same price as supermarket sushi.

I was surprised to find this kind of sushi joint in this area of town. We’re talking cheap, decent sushi, inventive rolls, and questionable standards of cleanliness. For the record, I didn’t get sick after eating here, so perhaps their food safety is ok. I’m just not sure about the restaurant layout with a box of sweet potatoes stuffed under the vending machine for chocolate covered espresso beans, and soda pop box stacked along the window sill. Also, the small sliding windows to the sushi shelf/bar fridge were left open while the chef was making the sushi. The owners are chinese, possibly taiwanese. This is a family owned, mom and pop, place. If you just want something filling and cheap and reasonably tasty, this is the place to go. But if you want something better, although likely more expensive, you’ll probably want to head up to Robson.
