Great little family breakfast place. Wonderful service and great food. Coffee was excellent, food was tasty — we had the«blue plate», and it was very clean. Price points were bang on. I can’t stress how friendly and nice the service was.

Messed up my order pretty bad. I ordered a 4 cheese panini with bacon and tomato. I got a grilled cheese on plane white bread with no bacon and a tiny piece of tomato… and it cost $ 9? Definitely won’t go back. The order was To Go and I didn’t notice until I got back to work or I would have asked for it to be remade. The only reason why I gave 2 stars instead 1 is my wife really enjoyed her Caprese panini(which was actually made on a panini).

I just went here with my mum for lunch before a spa day for her birthday. Everything we wanted they were out of, we ordered and sat and waited 10 minutes and they came over and told us that they were out of egg salad for the sandwiches and could only make half a sandwich. We waited longer and they weren’t making our order, they made everyone else’s and forgot ours. We had to get a refund and leave. The employees are friendly, but if they have this crazy of a lunch rush they need to supply that demand. We also felt extremely rushed when ordering and seating is very limited.

Great food. Great service. Great prices! I bought the lunch special. .half a sandwich with your choice of Soup or salad… any soup any sandwich and any salad. I had the turkey carver sandwich with fruit salad and an orange, old-fashioned soda. It was great!

What a great place for lunch! I’m a big fan of their chicken salad sandwich and almost all their summer salads! Great prices and friendly staff.

Ordered takeout from Duke’s via today and were suitably impressed. Great soups, great salad and our sandwiches were really tasty and well made. Their chicken salad was especially good, and my colleague said the roast beef on his panini was real hand-carved and nicely medium-rare. The bread and everything was super fresh, sandwiches tasted and looked like they had been made to order, not left soddening in some refrigerator case for hours. A very filling lunch for three under $ 45! In any case: Definitely great, will order again.

Every time I go to Duke’s I’m always amazed by the quality, especially with the price point. Not only is Duke’s an absolute steal but the food is made with so much love you can TASTE it. It’s so good. If you live/work/play in the area and you need a breakfast/lunch skip the whole foods and come here.

Now I know why there are crazy long lineups during lunch, as they close early 5pm. It’s not just because of the busy area by the hospital. Ordered their meatloaf, tender, moist but the house-made sauce just tasty. A piece of edam cheese too, to boost. Fresh veggies. Their size of bread also bigger and better, not your typical square, I know it’s hard to see from the pic, due to lighting as I sat near the back, but there’s window action seating. Loft-style. They also do catering to UBC for those Unilocalers working there, even at 9am.

Had many a breakfast wrap and lunch sandwich here. Everything fresh and made to order, with the best value breakfast wrap in town, and thoughtful sandwiches. Topped off with friendly staff and a great owner. Go.

I have no idea how I haven’t been here before but I made up for it by coming for lunch twice in two days. Yum! Both times, I got my sandwich to go, first one was the chicken salad and second one was the caprese. Both were excellent. Fresh ingredients and very flavourful. I am now a huge fan. Previous reviews have commented on a long wait at lunch, but I arrived at 11:50 and 12:20 and only waited for a few minutes each time. Staff were friendly and I spent my short wait eyeing the menu and planning what to order on my next visit.

I love this place. There are lots of chains in the area with their factory baking(hell o Starbucks!) and this place does it right. Scones baked from scratch on site. Fresh every day. I’ve also had a few sandwiches and a quiche and enjoyed them.

There is a cute little coffee shop in the area, which serves lunch and drinks. So, I tried their sandwich for lunch. Lox and a mocha. They tasted good. It is a family owned café and it is quite clean and homey. Food is quite fresh and I finished the meal in no time. Feel much healthier than greasy type food store nearby. A plus is that less crowd than fast food chains down the road, and not much lineup. It is a place for quiet moment to get away the crowd and noise.

I was told this place is known for their chicken salad sandwich so I came in for one. Walked in at around 2pm on a Friday to no line. It’s obviously a lunch spot that gets busy at noon. Staff were extremely friendly and definitely a reason to come back. The sandwich itself was quite good, everything was fresh and there was a generous helping of chicken salad in it. The chicken was moist and tasty the addition of grapes elevates it amongst the best chicken salads I’ve tried. The only downside was the price. At $ 8 it’s not a cheap sandwich, after tax and tip and a drink you’re easily over $ 10 for a sandwich and a juice.

This is a great little spot near the hospital to grab a coffee either before an appointment or on your coffee break at work. The baristas are helpful and friendly. Try the lavender latte and one of their scrumptious squares.

Middle of the road food, but with perks! Food: Reasonably priced $ 7 – 9 meals: soups, sandwhiches, coffee shop treats. Free fruit infused water which is just a nice thing to see anywhere. I had the greens salad and mushroom quiche. Fresh and pretty presentation. The salad was simple but very good. The quiche was somewhat promising but lacked any special qualities that would make me order it again. Staff: very lovely, quick and pleasant. Setting: basic, limited seating, really meant for 1 – 2 people parties. Not busy though, so not a problem.

I love dukes and I want it to remain as is. so shhhhhh. It’s the prefect lunch spot for lunch breaks or quick breaky. The service is GREAT. Very friendly and easy going. They learn your namevertu quickly and care about how your day is going(of their not slammin busy!). Sometimes the food does take an extra minute but that’s coming from someone usually on a hurried lunch break. Never the less, the food is worth the wait. Very healthy and so tasty! I love the soups and creative salads. The only thing I might change is the layout inside. I’m not even sure how you could, but sometimes the flow of people is a bit challenging and tables are quickly full as there aren’t so many. That’s my only critique, I seriously love this place. But don’t tell anyone!

***4.5 stars*** This is my go-to lunch spot. Duke’s does it right. Tasty, fresh, quick, healthy options and always something new to try. With their daily rotation of fresh salads, soups and sandwich specials in addition to their regular menu, I have never gotten bored of the selection. Portions are hearty so if you’re not ravenous, you can order any sandwich half-size even if it’s not on the board, well I’ve yet to be turned down. A secret tip is their half-sandwich plus soup or salad combo for under $ 8…amazing deal! On occasion there has been a bit of a wait for my food but I have definitely noticed an improvement over the past few times and it really depends on the day. I just wish there was less crowded seating as I like meeting lunch dates here but that won’t stop me from coming. Also I wish the food-handling staff wore gloves even though I know they wash their hands. –½ star for that. I have yet to try their breakfast/brunch menu and am excited that they are now open on Saturdays!
