Good equipment & good customer service. I really appreciate when employees are knowledgeable and helpful when questions are asked. I also really appreciate it when they just let you kayak and have fun without being overbearing about experience, rules etc. PARKINGSUCKS — it’s not really their fault though.

Amazing! This was my first time kayaking but my group has been to different companies around Vancouver and North America and we ALL agreed this company not only has the best equipment but also amazing customer service! From the front desk to the dock, all their employees are super friendly and willing to help :) The instructors go over all the safety procedures, equipment and answer any questions you may have prior to getting in the water! We came in on a Saturday morning and did the 2/hr kayaking for i believe $ 39/single $ 59/double. Talk about a PEACEFUL morning! The water was so quiet, the air was so clean and i was surrounded by good company! I will be back if not this weekend, next!

Full-moon kayak tour with Ecomarine was fantastic. After a brief orientation and set-up(kayak, paddle, PFD), we set-off from Jericho to chase the sunset, going nearly as far as the tip of the UBC peninsula. We then headed back in time to see the full moon rise over downtown Vancouver. The guide did a great job of keeping our group of people with various kayaking skill levels close enough to keep an eye on, but with enough distance that we weren’t too close together.

I wanted to learn stand up paddleboarding and chose ecomarine because of their excellent reputation. at the store, peter gave me great insight and advice on life jackets, paddles and boards. at english bay, alex was an awesome instructor. he gave clear and simple instructions, demonstrated each technique, encouraged and helped me with lots of patience and cheerfulness. I can’t swim and was a bit terrified to be on the ocean, but after falling in and learning to get back up, I gained confidence. once I learned how to balance and adjust for the waves, it started getting fun and relaxing. it was quite a thrill to learn in just 1 lesson, and I thank ecomarine for hiring such excellent staff!

I can’t say enough good things about this place. I’m currently doing the 6-week beginners kayaking program out of Jericho, and everything about the lessons are perfect. They have a great selection of kayaks, and encourage us all to try different ones every week to see which ones we’re most comfortable in. The gear is all in great condition, and the staff are really knowledgeable and professional. Our 2 instructors(Eva and Megan) are amazing — really funny, nice, patient and generally excellent teachers. I’m not a strong swimmer and have always been a little afraid of the water, and they’re great with me — they encourage me to get in the water and practice our skills, but they’re not pushy about it and they really respect everyone’s boundaries. I’ll definitely be coming back for more!

We called ahead of time and asked for two hours of time although when we got there this was not the case. Leaving from Grandville island for one hour doesn’t leave you to many options. We were a little bit behind schedule so they bumped our time along which was nice. Overall for a first time paddle boarder it was fun. A calm sunny day is definitely ideal.

These guys rock. Not only do they sell the best quality and selection of kayaking gear in the city, they’re knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the sport and equipment. Only place I ever consider when looking for kayak stuff or renting.

About a decade ago, kayaking came up as great human powered activity to get out on the water. After a lesson & then a rental from this company we decided to get our own boats. Singles. My wife’s came from their Granville Island store. Owner Chris couldn’t have been more helpful & informative in getting her into the right boat. Since that time we have happily taken our sea kayaks out in English Bay to play as well as soloed for up to a week at a time with the addition of necessary clothing & gear from this store. All you really need to get paddling is here. Summer staff are obviously hired for their knowledge & enthusiasm as they add to the depth of knowledge & interest of the friendly folks who are their year round. Good pricing & there is always something on the sale rack.

In summer, I went paddle boarding with a friend because they had a 2-for-1 deal. It was my first time paddle boarding and the staff were super friendly and helpful! They answered all our questions. Plus, the gear was new and they had lots of it. My biggest issue is that the water near Granville Island is dirty and busy… with wakes from other boats. I fell in and felt pretty unclean. But, if you’re not going to fall, this is a great place to come! They have good deals on Mondays and Tuesdays. It’s central, friendly, well-equipped and has some of the best paddle boarding deals in Vancouver.

We were on vacation for just two days in Vancouver and our teenage girls were interested in kayaking. I called and inquired about their tours. They said they would call us back and never heard back from them. I have told them that we were from out of town and we dont have much time in Vancouver. She even repeated the phone number back to me to ensure that we get a phone call. They could at least given us a courtesy call to let them know that they didn’t have any tours available.

This was a fun and different way to experience the entire area along False Creek from Granville Island to World of Science. We went out on a double kayak and I was impressed that it was the«real thing” – complete with graphite paddles and working rudder. The gear was in great condition and the kayak itself was much lighter and more agile than those clunky plastic ones you often get at lakes. Jeff was super helpful and even helped us get a parking spot right in front of the store. Everyone on staff was very friendly and helpful. Can’t recommend this company highly enough!
