Bad service; was incredibly difficult to get attention from servers and took too long. Food was only mediocre, pizzas too chewy.

My favorite pizza place in town! I am so thrilled that they not only have a gluten free crust, but non dairy cheese as well. I have seen this attempted by other restaurants, but Famoso does gluten free right: there is no loss in flavour or texture. I love that pizzas are thin crust and the ingredients are high quality. You can eat an entire pizza without feeling gross and greasy afterward. I also love the famoso salad, just wonderful. I also have to say that the service is always excellent. The staff are friendly and engaging, and have been very mindful of my allergies. Whenever I have guests in town this is where I take them.

Went here for a friend’s birthday party recently. As always, service was top notch. On Wednesdays, wine is also quite well priced. #winonotrhino Already ate dinner before arriving, so I ordered the Mediterranean Flat Bread, but without feta since I’m not a fan. The food came out at a decent pace, especially considering the party. It arrived, and essentially it was what was expected… cooked bread(or pizza dough?) with a small tub of dipping sauce of hummus and tzatziki. Unfortunately the amount of bread overwhelmed the dips, and they were gone before the bread was half gone. I received the bill, and after tax it was $ 12.34… for bread and ½ cup of hummus & tzatziki. It’s my own fault, and a learning lesson. Definitely go here for the pizza, and order a salad next time if you’re not hungry!

We had a great time here. Super friendly and helpful staff, laid back ambiance and delicious pizza with various types of toppings and sauces. You can watch it being prepared and cooked in the oven too as they have an open kitchen. Good selection of different types of salads too. We were here after a play at the Cultch and they have a 15% discount off bill with your ticket stub. A friend told us their gelato is awesome but we were too stuffed to try it. We will go back.

Delicious! Sometimes have to wait a while, but so fresh and tasty. The gelato is great too. Also. if you go for lunch you can get a combo which is amazing. I wish they had that sort of combo for dinner too…

I come here for the Sweet BBQ Chicken Pizza only. It’s the only thing I can order because it’s so good I can’t drift away. The flavours go so well together. For traditional pizza I’d rather go to campagnolo or la vie, however I’m currently and will probably always be addicted to the Sweet BBQ Chicken. 5 Stars for the sweet bbq chicken pizza.

I came here during the Eastside Culture Crawl weekend to take a break for lunch and enjoy the cool vibe that the Drive offers. The décor is very much like any other pizza joint, with high tables and a rather artsy-lighting fixture made out of old window railings. We were seated by the door and had a nice view of the kitchen were the fresh dough was being made. Our server was very friendly and to the point and refilled our hot water glasses a couple of times during our meal. I started off with their tomato basil soup which was hearty and decorated with a large ball of cheese and basil leaves. Then we shared a Margarita pizza which was tasty with lots of cheese and good tomato paste but failed to amaze me. Overall, I’d come back again to try out other types of pizzas and see whether those will impress me.

Famoso is supposed to be unique and famous for its pizza — using ‘00’ flour, campaigna tomatoes, etc to make it their«neopolitan style» pizza. I found it quiet at lunch during the midweek. Excellent service(normal and not ‘take a number”) although the pizza I ordered(funghi) overshadowed that negatively. Maybe it was a dud, or the Chef was extremely stingy? How can you be stingy with neopolitan style? Pizza — 2 types of mushrooms(funghi), truffle oil, fior de latti cheese and parmesan crème Pizza Crust — delectable esp. if you ask for it well done… however it had a bitter taste to it on the underside on some pieces — maybe their oven needs cleaning? or dough has gone bad?! :/ Toppings — sorry but this was a tasteless pizza(no amount of salt and pecorino romano made it tastier) …(parmesan would have been tastier) would kick this flavor up, but added roasted garlic helped. Unfortunately, the truffle oil was nonexistent, the garlic was 2 thin slices I found and mushrooms(oyster and white — my suggestion would be crimini). The cheese was weak in amount — I would have opted for smoked mozza instead of fior de latte. A few burned basil leaves were added on top… not sure why they were there to be honest. Still better than Via Tevere(a little smaller too). Pizza Farina quattro formaggio with huge cloves of garlic(not cut up pieces), 4 cheese, arugula etc. tastier. This restaurant uses lemon wedge as a topping — while unique, its not a topping… so add something edible that way its more filling! $ 16 plus tax(not sure why truffle oil not added, that’s what ur paying for)

Wow. Pretty much top pizza I’ve ever had. And it was a gluten free pizza. Seriously wow.

While Marcello’s next door is packed this late on a Saturday night, Famoso is quite empty but that made for a nice quieter meal. Abruzzo tasted quite classic but good flavours and the crust was fantastic — not too thick and got a good chew. The pizza did start to get quiet soggy halfway through. Cavoletti pizza caught my eye with the mix of salty and sweet flavours so I had to try it. Was definitely not disappointed! The honey added a sweet flavour to the palette that offset the savoury and creamy flavours nicely and made the pizza feel light even though you can feel the oil dripping down your hand as you eat. Very yummy and different from other pizzas I’ve had. Crust again was great!

We just came back from our honeymoon in Italy, and pizza in Naples is one thing we really missed. We found this place who claims to be pizza from Naples and we’re excited to try. We had the pizza margarita and the mozza balls. The best thing about Naples pizza is the crust, and this place almost have the delicious doughy crust we were looking for. The tomato sauce was a bit too sour comparing to the ones we had in Naples. Overall still not the same, but not bad for Vancouver.

I love Famoso’s not only because they make pizza the neapolitan style with the chewy crust, but also because their pizzas are so delicious AND they have nutritional information online. When you’re a health nut like me and you count your calories/macronutrients.any place that gives you information like this. is just amazing. I love their korean BBQ pulled pork as well as their Funghi. Amazing pizzas. I come here as often as I can. Their drinks are pretty good too, like their sangria was tasty but there wasn’t much alcohol in it. However, thats fine. I am not a big drinker. Why no 5 stars? Well…the price is a bit high. It would sit better in the 13 dollar range. Also some pizzas I have tried here were SUPER soggy due to the ingredients they used, and it was a mess. All in all, I love this place and will continue to come when I am in the area.

Service is always great when I come to Famoso– consistent four stars. Food has been pretty dece each time with exception of a soup once. Place is spacious, is family– and group-friendly, has clean washrooms, and noise level is okay so you can actually have a conversation. Only boo from me is that dessert is pretty much always meh. I’ve still yet to try the Nutella pizza; I will get to that… This time, ordered: (1) Mozza balls which were on special($ 6 for 3 or something), they were meh. (2) Cavoletti pizza. Dang. What the hell. For real? This thing was super bomb. Five frickin stars and is now my go-to pizza when I come to Famoso.

So these guys do a pretty decent pizza. Service is pretty good here, a group of us showed up and there weren’t any tables available, so they let us post up at the bar while we waited, and transferred our tab once space opened up. No fuss, no muss. I ended up getting one of the pizzetta and salad combos($ 13). It makes for a good meal, since taking on a full sized pizza on your own could be a bit of a challenge. I went with the Vesuvio. It’s got a bit of a kick, not too salty, but crust could have been better. It was a little too chewy. I think this place fills a good void for a mid-range sit down pizza parlour.

I used to live in the hood and would come here often. My favorite is their Cavoletti. I love that hint of sweetness in their pizza. Plus they are quite generous in the ingredients. I suggest ordering the regular size and share it at lunch time. Don’t order the lunch combo special its really not a great deal with the amount of prosciutto you get in it. Sometimes they have service and sometimes you have to order at counter and they bring it to you. This really depends on how busy the place it gets. I never really figured out when they take the order or when is it I have to walk up and order. So confused. But overall they have good pizza. coming back when in the hood.

I want to give this place 3.5 stars. The service was probably one of the best I’ve had. Went with a group of 5 on a Sunday for lunch and they got us on right away. Server(I forgot her name) knew all the beers and made recommendations for pizzas that were quite tasty. The pizza itself though wasn’t really what I expected. I’ve eaten at most of the naple style pizzas in town and while I’m not saying it was bad it just doesn’t measure up. The fungi was good, flavourful but too much olive oil. Same Goes for the margarhetta(spelt that wrong).

Came here on a Friday night for dinner and surprisingly was seated fairly quickly. To start, my boyfriend ordered a Caesar while I enjoyed a red sangria. According to him, the Caesar could’ve used a bit more garnishes(it came with a celery stick and a pepper). On the other hand, my red sangria was deeelicious! For our main meal, we shared a capricciosa pizza and it definitely hit the spot — the Italian ham and artichoke hearts compliment each other very well. Famoso definitely deserves the 5 stars because this was my second time here and the food + friendly staff have been great both times! Note: parking can be difficult to find since many delicious restaurants occupy The Drive.

Italian restaurants, particularly pizzerias, are a nightmare for the gluten sensitive folk. There is a saying that the dining experience for celiacs is a ‘gluten circus with extra wheat clowns on the side.’ Now i can rejoice! After I read Shae A.‘s review on this place and made a beeline to the place for dinner with my BFF. She stated that Famoso had gluten-free crust and Daiya(vegan cheese) topping available. We went in and were immediately greeted by the staff on a bustling rainy Monday night. We got seated and immediately our waiter greeted us announcing the Monday margarita specials. After looking at the menu, we decided on the pizza and salad we wanted. We requested the gluten-free crust(I am the gluten sensitive one, not my BFF. But she went along with it anyways.) and the Daiya cheese. Now…the pizza is supposed to cook in 90 seconds. If you are gluten free, you need to give the staff extra time to prepare the crust and take extra measures to avoid cross contamination. Our salad arrived, we split it… sooooo nice. Then our pizza eventually arrived. Our waiter made it clear that the pizza was not an ‘eat with a knife and fork’ pizza. You have to eat it with your hands and fold the slices to make it manageable. I loved the artisan-rustic-handmade look of that thing… something you see in Pinterest! The gluten-free crust was tender inside, crisp outside, delicious. I loved the lush olives, slices of ham, mushrooms. When they top the pizza, they place the cheese first so you can see the toppings. Beautiful presentation. Although the pizza was 11 inches in diameter, it made us full! One caveat: I do trust the chefs here to be careful about cross contamination. Just remember that even with precautions, there is always a cross contamination risk as the restaurant also serves wheat pizza. Good experience, attentive service. No downsides here… unless you count the fact the waiter reminded me of a guy I was supposed to attend a holiday event with, then failed to show up :(

Finally made it to this joint for the thin crust pizza. We ordered the seasonal verde pizza for $ 15.25 and I enjoyed it. But it gets a bit soggy cuz it’s so thin so eat fast. Also tried the popular half size pesto caprese salad for $ 8. I really liked the salad but the portion was ridiculously small. I almost thought it was a sampler. I had a good waitress but ordering at the front was silly as a sitting customer who had to wait in line and was then expected to tip afterwards. The female taking my order at the front was not helpful with helping me with choices for a first time guest. I didn’t find the staff friendly in general and the restaurant wasn’t even that busy. So… Yummy food but pathetic service.
