Out of this world!!! Period!!! True Italian food, homemade pasta, thick spaghetti, thin crusts etc… Simple ingredients that are beautifully executed. To North American standards, the service is slow-ish HAVINGSAIDTHAT… If you’ve travelled Europe you know that good food like good love, good business, good politics, good laws… It takes time to prepare!!! This place is a staple for me and my friends, definitely a must try!

We chose this place due to the great reviews, came to celebrate a special occasion, and were pretty disappointed! The spaghetti noodles were really thick(almost felt like a gnocchi), and the«garlic +oil» sauce was actually tomato based and super spicy(!!?). Place was noisy and service was slow. I’d probably try another place on the Drive, among the lots of options around.

… Wow what a huge disappointment. Last visit was amazing. Pasta was delicious. Now not so much. Portion size has gone dramtically smaller. I ordered the penne with prawns, scallops, and mushrooms. I received four prawns one tiny overcooked scallop and two mushrooms. I am so disppointed. Sauce was watery and pasta was undercooked. Pizza barley had sauce or meats. Whats going on here?! This place is going downhill.

Really good standard Italian. The highlights for me are gnocchi(soft as clouds) and the pizza. The atmosphere leaves something to be desired, as its located in a weird mall off of Commercial. But if you can get over that then its worth a visit when you’re craving the carby stuff!

A staple of the Grandview-Woodland neighbourhood inside Il Mercato market on East 1st Avenue, the 29-year-old Lombardo’s Pizzeria & Ristorante is home to Vancouver’s very first wood fired pizza oven. To start, the frittura di calamari was a standard and suitable appetizer as basically what you’d expect from a typical dish of deep fried squid. The summer feature heirloom tomato focaccia(with basil, balsamic reduction, and grated pecorino) was a substantial, tasty endeavour with a more flatbread quality. As for pasta, the udon-like spaghetti pasticiotti was probably my highlight with its rich, meaty sauce and its messy deliciousness. The classic margherita pizza was a very good thin crust pie cooked just right. It was another basic but satisfying item. This fusilli alla nonna(with quark and basil) was also rather pleasing, and also on the simpler but still tasty side. The more adventurous salmone pizza(with wild BC smoked salmon, capers, onions, dill, and garlic oil) was quite good and a nice mixture of contrasting flavours. The well-cooked and topped salmon stood out nicely. The off-menu linguine al pesto was quite solid and filled with some nice old school Italian flavours. Lombardo’s offers a nice variety of authentic Italian pastas and pizzas in the more traditional image of your local pizzeria and ristorante. It’s easy to see the loyalty of its reliable clientele with their attention to detail in a more western Italian mould.

We spent 3 weeks travelling through Europe travelling through Paris and Italy. We really enjoyed the pizza we had in Naples and Venice cooked in wood fired ovens. The crust was thin and cooked perfectly — not soggy or crispy. My favorite is the Margherita pizza. Upon our return to Vancouver, we’ve been searching for the similar tasting Margherita pizza. Lombardo’s Margherita pizza was very close with the same wood fired oven taste with the exception of the crust. Don’t get me wrong but the crust was just a little thicker but very close to the pizza’s I ate in Italy. If you’re looking for an extremely authentic tasting Margherita pizza without travelling to Naples, Italy, than Lombardo’s is the place to go! You won’t be disappointed!

We’ve been here numerous times over the years and the quality of food and service is consistently great. Overall good value for money. Only downside is that the location is within a small shopping centre so the atmosphere is not the greatest. Renovation a few years back helped quite a bit. Reservations recommended!

At Lombardo’s takeout window, across the hall from the full restaurant, they offer pizza and pasta by the gram. The server, Erica, was terrific in explaining how it all worked and recommending the best slices of pie. In the end, I settled for the Mushroom one which was great! Wasn’t too greasy, thin crispy crust, and baked in cheese, yum! Not the cheapest place to grab a slice of pizza at though.

Had dinner here a couple nights ago and we were a bit disappointed with some of the food– We started off with calamari and a salad; those were both fine. The big size calamari was a generous serving for $ 15. For our mains we had two pastas– gnocchi with pesto sauce and grilled prawns and the spaghetti pollo picante. We were really looking forward to them since the place advertised fresh made pasta. The sauces for both dishes were good but both the gnocchi and spaghetti were pretty bad– the gnocchi lacked any sort of flavour and was so soft that the outer surface looked like the texture of stucco. The spaghetti noodles were about the thickness of a pencil and looked more like long strands of German spatzle; both were doughy and not very appetizing. Quite frankly, we were surprised to receive mains of that quality at a restaurant that seemed nice-ish…

My family have been eating here for years. The food is good, fresh and tasty. My favorites is the Chef’s salad and Capriciosa pizza. Over the years the food consistency has been good. My only gripe is no refills for the soda, come on guys. Everywhere has free refills for soda now.

Went here with a friend, he highly recommended it Location isn’t the best, located inside a mall. beside a Tim Horton’s. But, the pizza. the pizza. some of the best. if not the best I have eaten in Vancouver We ordered the salmone, capricciosa, and the prosciutto e arugula My favourite was the capricciosa. not a huge fan of the salmone Highly recommended for solid pizza

I think this place changed hands or something. The place was renovated a while ago and the food isn’t as good as before. The pastas are overdone. I have to say the calamari was stellar but the pizza and pasta were average. Kind of disappointed.

Unfortunately, I feel like I need to downgrade my rating… I went with a group on the weekend and while we had a lot of fun, the food just isn’t up to par. Perhaps the Italian places around Vancouver have upped their game enough that I don’t find Lombardo’s so special anymore. I can’t recommend it wholeheartedly like I did previously. I think there may have been an increase in the pricing but there are much better bowls of pasta in the city for the same price level. Our server was very good-humored and kept things rolling in a casual and light-hearted way. Meanwhile, he was very efficient at clearing plates away and was kind enough to remind us that a gratuity is automatically added to groups of 8 or more. I thought that was really honest/transparent of him to do.

If the backstory is known… pretty much the same food as Marcello’s, and Pacifico downtown(if they’re still using the same recipes)… but the service was really good(hmm… Marcello’s, you listening… that surly unattentive service really holds you back). Came here with the wife and a friend from university and her boyfriend. The friend had suggested Anton’s, and I refused… telling her I would come up with some(almost ANY) other option. Based on their travels by transit, and the wife coming back from work on transit… I focused on the Commercial Dr. area for a good spot for everyone… and hence, Lombardo’s. The wife and I showed up a little early, and we had a drink(Drive Me Crazy)… it was a refreshing drink for a hot day… the others showed up, ordered some drinks, we perused the menu and got to it… Friend had a mista salad to start, and me and the wife shared the Chef’s Salad… for a main, the friend went with a pizza, her boyfriend a mixed seafood pasta, the wife had linguine with clams(she wasn’t a huge fan… the clams didn’t taste super fresh, she said), and I had the classico calzone(the items I had I have had at Marcello’s and Pacifico before). And… it tasted the same… as in… quite tasty. Service was quick and pleasant… she checked in every so often to see if we needed anything, but not too much to be in our face… just a good amount. I had ordered the large calzone to have some to bring for lunch the next day… and well, it was bordering on the next two days of lunch… HOLY crap that thing is huge… imagine a calzone the size of a whole salmon on a platter, and you’ll get the idea. So… I was quite impressed… and in a choice between the two(Marcello’s and Lombardo’s)… I’d definitely choose Lombardo’s. Food the same… service… night and day difference.

A coworker recommended me to try this place. Location is not the best when it is situated inside an older mall. It would have been great to actually be able to sit outside in the patio section and enjoy the great weather. Inside the restaurant is pretty nice. It had a very casual vibe and lots of diners at 9pm. We ordered a number of pizzas, half a chicken, a salad and a pasta dish. Food was pretty good. There were some consistency issues with the pizza crust. Two of the pizzas were super burnt/black underneath and the other two lightly golden brown. I guess it depended on where the chef placed the pizza in the oven or he did not get to take the pizza out fast enough. The topping combinations were good. Not amazing but were good. The bread on the salad was alright. It was a large salad portion for $ 8. Surprisingly, my sister loved her chicken more than the pizza. The sauce on the pasta was a touch too runny but the seafood was fresh. Scallops were cooked perfectly and pasta was al dente. Service was good. Server could not keep track of what each person ordered for drinks. She took our order without writing a single word down and managed to deliver all the items albeit to the wrong person. Still good effort on her part since it was a large group.

This place has been on my bucket list for a few years now, however, I keep forgetting it ’cause it is tucked away inside a mall. When we went in at the peak of Saturday evening it was busy, however, not packed in comparison to the other places on the Drive. My best friend and I were seated within 5 minutes. The place has some ambiance, not much, however, you can dress up nicely if you want. Prices are very reasonable. My best friend and I shared a medium Pizza between us for $ 15 and split the bill. The Pizza is a very thin crust but leaves you satisfied. The host who sat us was a good sport as we were playing around with him.
