One of the most over priced, over hyped Pizza Joints in the city. I get more taste wise from those $ 1.25 all around downtown. I just had a moment of desperation and needed something to fill ASAP and the nearest food joint that was reasonable was 2 blocks away(yes I was really hungry). For $ 5 — $ 6 a slice I might as well have gone and ate a slice at GM Place or at least expected better. The toppings were decent, however, the herbed crust always tastes better. You know that someone is wrong when you can’t ID the herbs used in the dough. Nothing that is ever found in my kitchen. The one good thing is that at least they use decent grade cheese. I love their unique ingredient combination, however, they need some serious improvements on their crust.

I spent four years having this fabulous pie by the slice. I also spent four years leaving with about half that slice for later. I have never been a fan of pie by the slice, as I would much rather have a freshly-cooked pizza that I custom ordered. Somehow, Flying Wedge has made the by-the-slice as fresh-tasting as possible, and I have certainly never been able to get by-the-slice options as creative as what they offer. Almonds! Cheddar! No way! I do highly recommend that Tropical Pig. Although every variety I’ve tried has some sort of mystical crack ingredient that always makes me way overeat. Skip the McDonald’s next door and treat yourself here.

I crave cheese. Who doesn’t though? Melty cheesy goodness on soft bread baked… I’m drooling just thinking about it. Flying Wedge pizza is pretty freakin deluxe, its like the Artigiano of pizza, where you pay a $ 5 minimum for the extra love they put into making it. I have tried several of the pizzas at Flying Wedgie, and they are all pretty awesome, the pesto one is a bit much, unless you really like pesto, and I mean REALLY like pesto. My favs are probably the Greek and the Cheesy ROM, and you can get a little pesto dipping sauce for the crust. I think every pizza place should have dipping sauces, and I think Flying Wedgie should consider getting a balsamic one, because that flavour goes with bread so well. One thing I noticed about this particular location was how hot it was inside the store. The poor employees must have been bathing in their own sweat it was so damn hot. They were all still very pleasant and helpful, but you could see the suffering in their eyes. So maybe if you decide to get pizza for lunch bring these poor guys a cold one, so they don’t melt on shift, cuz then there will be no one left to make our lunch!
