* Lost in translation * This street truck offering from Ragazzi( ) fixed the issue I had when I visited the actual restaurant. At least the slice here was properly heated — hooray! But the things I liked from their original location don’t seem to have translated as well to the mobile street truck. I had the prosciutto funghi slice, but there were almost no toppings on the slice. The original location had really nice high quality ingredients. Here, I felt like an explorer trying to find the toppings! The crust also did not get the same char, which I enjoyed at the original location. I suppose that is a function of baking a pizza on a truck instead of a larger space. For the price of $ 3/slice, I don’t think I’ll be choosing this truck over some of the store-front options not too far away when in the need of a slice.

I wanted to love it more than I did. I’ll start with the positive notes — it tasted good, was hot, not greasy, and crust was crisp and flavourful. Now, for the downside. I ordered two different slices and in all honesty couldn’t really tell them apart. Each slice had such few toppings that it was ridiculous. For example, the slice containing fresh basil as an ingredient only had one thin ¼″ shaving dangling along the cut line. WTF? Unfortunately, all of the toppings were of similar quantity. Sounds like they’re still working out some kinks but I hope they get it together soon. I’d like a gourmet alternative to the greasy, cheap pizza sold in area shops.

Ragazzi Pizza was my first nouveau street meat experience in Vancouver. Compared to the Mega Bite pizza that I have once every two weeks, this was much better. Had the prosciutto funghi and the spaccanapoli. The slices were hot(although the cheese was far from melted), and the toppings good. My friend who was with me felt the same. All in all, not bad. And a definite +1 for street meat.

in a word — JUNK the pizza is cold, tiny and lame. the crust tastes like cardboard. go to seymour and pender to one of the $ 1.25 places and get way better pizza for less than half the price. ragazzi = disappointed in italian.
