Getting your art, photos, and precious keepsakes framed properly is worth the time and money. The staff at Framagraphic are knowledgeable, helpful, and professional. When I walked in, the owner, Gerry, was working with a woman and child(who I assumed to be mother and daughter). The child couldn’t have been more than 7 years old, and had made a painting that the mother was having framed. When they were measuring the piece, Gerry politely asked«which way was up?» and the little girl confirmed the orientation. Gerry then showed them several frame options, and suggested mattes to go with it. The painting was quite large, and the end quote was more than $ 100, which the mother didn’t balk at. When it was my turn, Gerry then spent 40 minutes with me on 4 different pieces. Two were canvases and he explained the different ways you could mount canvas pieces. Then he helped me find appropriate frames, as politely and professionally as he had dealt with the mother and daughter. I was getting these canvas’ framed by the request of my boyfriend’s brother for Christmas. Knowing the boyfriend’s aesthetic taste, as well as the brother’s, I had to keep telling Gerry that while I thought it looked good, I knew that it wouldn’t fit the owners. Not to mention the canvases were painted by their mom. Talk about a delicate business. Gerry didn’t bat an eye at my pickiness, and helped me select 2 lovely and complementary frames. The third picture was a sketch done by my great uncle, and it had been hastily framed. The«matte», if you can call it that, was cut from another sketch and still had the pencil lines measuring it. It was«mounted»(taped with masking tape) on a piece of cardboard. But on the back of the cardboard it was signed and inscribed to my grandmother. I wanted to keep that writing. Gerry helped me pick a lovely frame, and matched the mattes perfectly to the paper and ink used for the sketch. The final piece was a certificate. I was hoping to find a steel or silver frame and simple matte. While the options Gerry showed me were gorgeous, and we did find something lovely(although not silver), I wasn’t sure what the brother’s budget was for this piece, so I held back. Now the cherry on the cake: I went in 9 days before Christmas, needing the 2 canvases for Christmas(not the 3rd one). They said they’d be ready by the 23rd, which was fine by me. They called me on the 21st and said they were ready. And all THREE were ready! The 2 canvases were about $ 100 each with tax, and the sketch was about $ 45 as it was able to fit into a pre-made frame that I liked. As for prices, yes framing is pricy, but it’s worth it. Properly framed and mounted, using quality mattes and materials will protect your art, photos, and keepsakes. It will maintain its value – both monetary and sentimental – by maintaining the quality of the piece.

If you have valuable prints or photographs that need to be framed, this is the place to have it done in Vancouver. Their work is top-notch and the service excellent. They aren’t cheap, but you get what you pay for! I’ve had at least 20 different pieces of artwork framed here and it has lasted beautifully for years.
