I love love love their sushi. I have been a regular for three years since a friend recommended it. Before the place hired new staff and got all hip and popular with the crowds. The jazz they play adds to the charm of the place, but its a bit small and these days too overfilled. The food remains delicious though so I would visit again but maybe not on the weekend.

Okay, so this place is really good. The oshi sushi is a must-have, as are the other rolls(like to Korean Kiss, a personal favorite). This place gets 4 stars for the quality of the sushi and the decent service. I’ll dock a star only because of the size of the place, and the fact that you will end up smelling like the kitchen when you leave. Our eyes were watering before we even got our food, and I wish there was better ventilation in the restaurant(the windows are always fogged up too). Other than the ambience, the place is really great. Try the tuna tataki, which is served on a long boat-style plate, which is definitely unique. All of the sushi I’ve tried here on the past few visits has tasted fresh, and is prepared wonderfully. Unfortunately, they don’t serve any beer, which isn’t a big deal, it would just be nice to be able to enjoy an asahi with my salmon oshi plate :)

It was my first time to try Green Leaf Sushi. My friend visited recently and her pics intrigued me to give this a try out. I guess I have slightly higher expectation going in because I have tried Miku, Minami, and Kishimoto. We tried: Jellyfish Salad, hotate aburi, salmon aburi, salmon & tuna sashimi, and hamachi carpaccio. My favouirte was probably the hotate aburi as it was unique here. The other locations I have never seen hotate aburi yet. The proportion of scallops to rice was pretty good(50⁄50) however the salmon aburi was a bit too much rice. It was still tasty and it melted in your mouth but I tasted more rice than the salmon for that roll. The jellyfish salad was pretty different too. It does have a strong peanut sauce dressing mixed in to the jellyfish so it can be overpowering. However I must say the proportions of salad you get is quite decent. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The prices here were average and maybe slightly more affordable than Minami and Miku. However prices were quite similar to Kishimoto. The best part for this restaurant was you can make reservations ;) I will probably come back again to try out the rest of their menu.

Went in for lunch. Good food. Service was okay. Mom and I shared the green leaf platter and the tempura and Cali roll lunch set. Everything was presented nicely and tasted good. The sashimi was really fresh. We got tea refilled frequently. One thing is that they brought the bill to us without us having to ask for it and we felt like we were being rushed despite it not being busy with only three other tables occupied.

It was my very first time visiting Green Leaf Sushi and I went in not expecting much because in my eyes, nothing really compares to Miku/Minami/Kishimoto pressed sushi. Boy, was I ever wrong. My boyfriend and I came here with another couple who had been here before and they suggested to get the aburi platter. This was about 6 pieces of 6 different aburi sushis which was pretty much a dream come true to me. We ordered another Saba and duck dish from the grill as well. All were spectacular, I can’t speak highly enough of this sushi for a portion of the cost of higher end Miku/Minami. My favorites were definitely the Saba dish from the grill, the pressed Saba roll and the pressed sushi roll. I think next time, I would skip on the platter knowing. which ones are my favorites now. If it’s your first time here, I’d definitely suggest getting the platter too, to try a bit of everything. Overall, highly recommended. Service was great while we were there and even though it was a smaller restaurant, we never got the feeling that they were trying to rush us out of the door. I’ll definitely be back, even though it is quite a bit of a trek!

It’s a typical Vancouver sushi place with so-so sushi. I would not return here. The place is quite loud during dinner time.

We ordered: — Auburi pressed sushi combo($ 65) share platter — Saba miso yaki — Duck miso yaki — Negitoro roll Review: For four people this was a sufficient amount of food. The Auburi platter took longer to prepare but we were warned of the 30 min wait time when ordering. This was a nice heads up. The miso yaki and the roll came first, we enjoyed all three items however the Negitoro and duck miso yaki were average. The duck was a bit dry but it was still decent. Don’t think we would order that again. The Saba miso yaki on the other hand was amazing. Would definitely have that one again. The Auburi platter was nice for first timers to try their wide variety of pressed sushi. We concluded this Auburi was comparable to kishimoto. I personally enjoyed the Saba and salmon aburi best, others liked the scallop and tuna. All were great and it’s safe to say we would order the salmon and Saba if we came on our own(2 ppl) bit of we brought other friends we would order the platter to share. Overall a good experience, Johnny(I think he was the owner) was very polite and welcomed us to come back. The staff were great and made sure we had enough tea and that everything was okay. They did the little things that some places miss out on.

This is my go-to sushi place in Kits. The service is always friendly and prompt, regardless of how busy they may be. I especially enjoy their salads, and the way they«plate» them make it great for sharing. The specialty rolls and sushi taste fresh and are put together very well. Not your typical«California”-style sushi. Prices are very reasonable and the portions/sizes are definitely worth it.

A pretty good sushi place. Though i set my expectations too high and was a little disappointed. The speciality roles here are better than those at most places in Vancouver but not as good as the ones I’m used to in California. I had the dragon and rainbow row and both were above average for vancouver sushi but nothing super amazing. The service was nice. The inside was quite small though and smelled like deep fry. The price is okay for Vancouver food, though I think I will only very occasionally come here as there are better places.

TL/DR version: service was horrible in so many ways, food looked pretty but the ingredients were low quality and hot dishes came out cold. Full version: My wife and I just moved to the neighbourhood and had quite a few Japanese and sushi restaurants to choose from. The Unilocal reviews were fairly positive here so we decided to try this place first. I understand showmanship but my wife and I found it a little odd that a group of Koreans were shouting«irashaimase» at a non authentic style sushi restaurant, many of whom completely mispronounced the word and even mumbled gibberish at times. I speak Japanese, my wife is Japanese and it gave us a false first impression that this was an authentic Japanese establishment. For the easily offended that shouldn’t read as a racist statement, for us it’s always a great feeling to find Japanese and sushi restaurants that are Japanese owned and operated. The first 10 minutes at our table was agonizing, there were only a couple of other tables seated and we weren’t even offered water until at least 10 minutes passed. After bringing some water which was another 5 – 10 minutes she simply dropped the waters and didn’t even ask if we were ready to order. Somehow by that time the couple who was seated next to us, a few minutes after us, already had food on their table. It took and unreasonable amount of time for tempura and miso soup to arrive and once we were finished we waited an unreasonable amount of time for the second course to arrive. Our glasses of water had been empty that entire time which I had asked for a refill and by the time she came with a refill I had one bite of sushi left. I have never been to a Japanese restaurant that doesn’t serve alcohol, i found that to be very disappointing. With the exception of the miso soup the quality of the ingredients were very poor. The rice tasted like mush, the croquette came out cold, the crab was FAKE, and the oshi sushi fell apart immediately. What I found very impressive was how quickly they came with the bill and collected payment at the cash register. I don’t understand the positive reviews about this place, the service and quality of food does not justify their prices one bit. I recommend trying something else in the area, The Eatery is across the street and doesn’t pretend to be Japanese but serves great sushi as well as alcohol.

I love this place! First of all, the staff is very hospitable and nice and the chefs are super good Their sushi is reasonably priced, each roll is 8 pieces and the deep fried rolls are HUGE! Haven’t tried everything but I intend to

This is my «go to» sushi spot in Kits. Their salmon sashimi is on par with any of the«name brand» sushi places in Vancouver. I also love their«crunch crispy» roll, and the teriyaki chicken is great. But for true sushi lovers, their sockeye salmon sashimi is outstanding. Pieces are HUGE and the prices are great. Just a note: no alcohol, so if you’re like me, and like a beer with your sushi, get it to go and enjoy at home with a cold Sapporo!

I went here to grab a quick lunch and ended up ordering their Hotate Oshi Sushi($ 12). While not as good as Kishimoto or Miku/Minami, they are quite delicious and you can definitely taste the scallop. Unfortunately, the portion is too small(6 small pieces) and not as creamy as I like. This place looks quite solid as far as sushi rolls go though and the service is extremely fast and friendly.

Wow. Wonderful family spot. Very authentic. The gyoza was perfectly fried. The sashimi deluxe was plenty and the fish was terrific. The Mango roll had wasabi and was sweet and with a nice shrimp. The no. 5 is also excellent The beef donburi was sweet with noodles. It was excellent. The caterpillar had fresh shrimp and was well flavored. The salmon sashimi was excellent and fresh We arrived early at 6pm. But it filled quickly. The chicken donburi was delicious. The chicken was tender with a nice sweet noodle and vegetables. Spicy tuna roll had a nice kick. Overall a great experience and would love to return

I’d go 3.5−4 stars here. Small, cute sushi place, fairly busy when we went yesterday as they are open during off hours during the afternoon. Love the Crunch Crispy roll, and that is actually why we went back, it is a decadent guilty pleasure roll for sure! Good quality sushi and sashimi, friendly and quick service. Fairly run of the mill menu compared to my favorite sushi place that is right down the block but no complaints about Green Lead Sushi.

Good fish prepared well, and some intriguing items that go beyond the same old. I tried the $ 8 California & nigiri combo. Will be back to try something more adventurous.

I came here on recommendation a few months ago from another elite Unilocaler. For starters the place is modern, clean and holds a traditional element. They have common menu items, however, there are some«outside the bento box» items. Of course I stuck to the usual avocado and cucumber rolls. Prices were decent for what it was. The presentation was amazing and clean. Customer service was awesome.

I heard a lot of great things about Green Leaf Sushi from a colleague, and must say that they have a nice variety of special rolls and a very delicious spinach gomae. The restaurant’s interior isn’t particularly alluring, nor is its temperature(it was quite warm when my friend and I went on a Thursday night in May) – but the food was good. We had toro sashimi and a roll combo that was on their chalkboard. Which reminds me, make sure you read the specials on their chalkboard before you order, or you’ll miss out like we almost did! I walked by recently and saw that they now have aburi/oishi sushi… which means another visit may be needed in the near future…
