Place is chic, fun, sexy, great. Perfect place to grab a late night bite with your friends, your date, whatnot. Great service as well. There is a lovely young man, great energy and attitude. And of course, the food was fantastic, full of flavours. Double thumbs up!

AH! This is such a cool bar! Stopped by today, and it’s definitely a small place, but it’s worth it. The drinks are so cool! Tried the«white girl wasted» and it’s so good… it tastes just like lemonade! The beercolada is a must try as well! A bit of a beer taste, with a sweet piña colada flavor at the end. $ 2.75 tacos?! Even better! I wish I had been a bit more hungry to try more food cause it smelt so good, but I will next time! Anyways– I recommend trying this out for drinks and small bites!

Made my life complete. You really nailed the neighbourhood Taqueria feel that I’ve been missing from El Salvador.

Capacity of 28 so come early or be prepared for a slight wait! Great location with a unique vibe, incredible service, and delicious corn tortilla tacos! The watermelon«bourbonita» might be the best drink I’ve had in 2016!(I subbed vodka for the bourbon and the server was totally okay with that.) Will definitely be back and will take visitors there for a piece of tropical hipster paradise!

The best Tacos I have had in Vancouver! Get the Holy Trinity and you will not be disappointed. There is one with fried chicken skin that I am a huge fan of. The atmosphere is really laid back and it’s great for a few beers after work with a small group of friends. The staff was really helpful in my taco selection and I am excited to come back sometime for lunch.

Came here late one night for food and drinks, they served us even though they were closing. The prices were reasonable, beer was great and food was on par with a good food truck, sorry it was a small space. I’d say give it a try, we loved the quesadilla and tacos, plus the friendly faces and warm atmosphere were very welcoming for travelers. Be warned, it’s a small space but feels and taste like a Tex-mex granny’s kitchen with an urban vibe.

This place is so fun! It has awesome drinks(pink flamingo is a personal favourite), amazing food and super friendly service. This is one of the only places where the server learns each customers name. You feel like your friends with everyone and it’s always a fun vibe. It can go from a casual dinner to a fun night out! The décor is quirky and unique. Love this place!

What is the worst I can say about this place?! When they run out of mango hot sauce. The people are impecable, the food is always BOMB, and the bourborita is alwayyyyys flowing. They will remember you name so be polite and remember theirs. Its a quaint little 90s place who serves tacos. I always always get 6 tacos. Usually mix it up with the flavs and always with avo cream. While watching 90s poweragers and conversing with my friends you can see the line outside as they eyeball us to hurry the eff up so they can eat. This place has character by its location, its like going to Hogwarts almost. Dudes are all awesome, great atmosphere and bombdigity food and drinks. HYFR.

Great late night place to grab a snack in the heart of Gastown. The margaritas are amazing, service is always with a smile, and the atmosphere is laid back and fun. It’s always packed so be prepared to wait a little, but since service is quick, a spot usually frees up fairly quickly.

I want to start with that I don’t give 5 star ratings. Friday night in gastown, we wanted to start the night right with some chips and salsa. We went in circles trying to find the place. Walk towards the Christmas lights down a dark alley. No big deal, the door guy(sorry didn’t get your name so I will call you door guy) let us know that it was too full but should be a couple minutes. We made friendly conversation in the rain and made the waiting go by fast. When we sat down at the bar for not even 5 minutes Door guy than asked us to move to another spot with the window view. Didn’t want to complain because the window had great people watching. Door guy gave us some free shots of crap margarita which was very appreciated because it helped me decide on the drink. Thank you! We preceded to order our chips and salsa with three tacos. Chips were Christmas literally green and red, salsa and guac was delicious but needed something spicy. Just add hot sauce. I just ordered one brisket taco and it was so flavorful I knew I needed more. The chicken ones are bomb too! My friend never got the veggie one because they got the order wrong so he ordered another chicken. You probably think with our all and all experience it doesn’t deserve a 5. I will explain… the staff was your friend they asked your name and engaged conversation. The vibes of the hole in the alley were 100%. The food was delicious taking in account from white boys. Two days later… I’m still thinking when I come back I will be visiting Gringos! from Seattle

We hit up this joint after a night at the bar on my trip to Vancouver. This hole in the wall is located in a sketchy alleyway but don’t let that deter you. They make amazing tacos for very cheap. The service was amazing too. The bouncer was very nice and even helped me navigate to the bathroom. The waiter was on top of everything and constantly provided top notch service. Everything from the service to the food to the atmosphere was incredible. Too bad they don’t have a place like in SF or I would be going almost every week!

Really tiny space, but this guys can really cook! Is really impressive what they can do with a so restricted space. ambience: the vibe is nice you can tell they enjoy to be there and they are passionate about food and service. pretty cool guys price: Very good deal. service: friendly, efficient, fast. food: This is a gringo taco so expect that tex mex fusion of mexican-american, but the flavours were there, they were tasty, specially the brisket quesadilla was really good.

Hidden away in Blood Alley, this is the ultimate late night taco spot. There’s nothing fancy about this place though. Gone are the Spanish tapas days of Judas Goat, with the more intimate space. Now, it’s transformed into a Californian-inspired taco place. Mingle with the people in the tiny space, complete with a hot sauce wal, colourful flamingo décor and some Baja inspired items. They don’t have any craft beer choices, only a choice of a lager or pale ale, for $ 3.75. Tacos are $ 2.75 each. I really wasn’t expecting much from this place, but it satisfied my late night food cravings. Our server was really laid back, friendly and even introduced himself to us. That’s a rare gesture in this city. I got a Austin taco(beef brisket, fried onions, and slaw), and a Wilbur(braised pork.) Both were quite good. The meat was tender and flavourful, and they didn’t skimp on the fillings. When it’s 1am in Gastown and you don’t want a donair or a $ 2 slice of pizza, this is the spot to visit!

Stumbled upon this place after leaving Tacofino Gastown through the alley entrance. Affordable Mexican food and drinks, with exceptional, personable service to boot! Don’t be rollin’ in with your large squad though, or you’ll have to sit separately or wait for awhile till you sit down, because-as other reviews have mentioned it– it’s quite tiny in there. Regardless, chill vibes all around. The food on the other hand isn’t anything spectacular, so look for another place if you want some crazy culinary experience. Go to Gringo if you want an affordable drunk night with your friends.

If I haven’t been out with locals I wouldn’t have found this pkace. It’s located in a back street in Gastown which looks a bit sketchy at nights. But it’s definitely worth a visit. Grwat honest food and Chepstow drinks is a good combination in my opinion :-) The tacos are delicious and came fresh and fast to us. I like the athmosphera here as its more like a visit at a friends house than going to a bar. I was first surprised that the waiter asked for our names and flashed while paying as he remembered it!!! Ckevk this place out !

Tucked in an armpit of Gastown is Gringo, a tiny diner that serves some really decent tacos amid colourful flamingoes. Price and portion of nicely loaded tacos was comparable to Le Tacqueria but selection is small in comparison. And made even smaller by their running out of two types of fillings by around 5.30pm on a Tuesday night. That said, some of their fillings were basically so tasty that you didn’t need any hot sauce or costs-extra additional toppings. TIP: There are two routes to Blood Alley Square which do not involve going through any substantial stretch of scuzzy alley. Do not turn into the alley via Abbott Street. Instead, you can find one of the paths on Water Street near Zientte Interiors; another is on Carrall Street near the Gassy Jack Statue, between Vera’s Burger Shack and the OK Boot Corral. Once you are in the alley it’s easy to spot the colourful lights. No, it’s not the other taco place that has a neon taco picture. Austin — saucy brisket, fried onions, slaw –Winner! Sweet and tasty. Get this. No toppings required. Encino — spicy hand-pulled roast chicken, ranch, salsa –Winner! Tasty and with a bit of heat to it. No toppings required. Wilbur — mazatlan braised pork, chilies, vinegar, pickled onions –Bland! Tasted like boiled pig meat. Definitely needed hot sauce. Just two guys running the show, and I guess with the busy-ness they dropped the ball with us. We were directed to be seated«anywhere», then promptly forgotten. Had to go to the bar to get menus after we got tired of waiting. For tacos that are presumably just assembled(or maybe they were refreshing their stock of fillings?) it felt like it took a long time to assemble six. TIP: If you aren’t handed menus in short order, go to the bar(it’s like 1 meter away no matter where you sit) and ask for them to move things along.

This place is a gem. Small, social room with lots of character. Fun, friendly staff, amazing selection of hot sauces and damn good eats. Got 6 tacos for $ 15(great deal). Of the bunch, the only one I didn’t love was the pork taco. It didn’t have much going for it in terms of flavour, other than the flavour of the meat itself. I’m not normally a chicken taco fan, but their chicken taco was bad ass. They also had $ 3.75 lagers and pale ales … can’t go wrong with that. I’ll definitely be going back. P. S. — if you love spicy food, try their house made 130K sauce. My other spicy favourite was the«endorphin rush».

Tacos taste great. Best deal is the 6 tacos for $ 15. My favorite tacos were the pork and fish tacos. The beer on tap is concealed, so you consume a secretly branded lager or ale. However, I had the Beera colada, which was awesome. It was a combo of beer, rum, coconut and lime. I recommend this drink. In addition to the taste, I love the affordability of the food. Don’t expect rapid service or special attention, but expect satisfying fare and atmosphere(if you are ok with small spaces).

Love the vibe here. Imagine if a few college buddies opened up a small taco joint, serving up delicious tacos, secret brewskis and doing it all with personal charm — you’ve got Gringo. Don’t let the sketchy location deter you. Yes, you’re gonna have to trench through a shady alley to get here, but it’s worth it. We ordered 6 tacos for $ 15(one of each kind) and a 7th bonus taco for $ 2.75 plus extra bacon and avocado cream for .50c each. The winners for me were the brisket, pork and fish(in that order). They have a wall of hot sauces for your spice selection. Tasty ass tacos, man. Washed down with a sleeve of $ 3.75 pale ale(or lager on tap — they don’t give away the brewery though). Chill as hell atmosphere like you’re in a college common area(they even had Revenge of the Nerds playing on the tv). Service was equally as chill and cool as he introduced himself and asked for our names as he shook our hands. Very personable! The gringos here will probably never see this review as I overheard them bashing Unilocal,I couldn’t help but giggle. ;) Nevertheless, I will definitely be back again!

We went to Gringo’s on a Saturday night and had a fabulous experience. I had the three tacos and chose to try the chicken, fish and pork. They were so tasty and delicious. We also had their poor man’s sangria and the bourbanita cocktails and these were also fabulous. It was a very welcoming kind of place, and the personal attention given by our waiter, Sean was commendable. I liked the personal touch of the introduction at the start of service and remembering our names when returning to the table with food or to take further orders. GOTHERE!
