I felt a brief update was called for, as I realized I never mentioned that the original aesthetician I saw at Hands-​on, Mira, has long since moved on. For the past 2 years the aesthetician there has been Tina, who is hands down the best eyebrow waxer I’ve seen. I’ve only been to her twice, but I can say, as someone who has had my brows done all over town, Tina has done them the best. I’m eager to try her other services as well, but it is mighty convenient to have a terrific waxer on premises when I’m getting my hair cut! Terry, of course, continues to be a stellar stylist as well :)

I used to go to a rather high-​end, hard-​to-​get-​an-​appointment-​with stylist on the Drive and I’m pretty particular about my hair and after having too many appointments lost or cancelled, I decided to look elsewhere and found Terry :-)
Casual environment, Terry is highly personable and really pays attention to working with how my hair wants to go in a way that is stylish and compliments me. I have curly hair that is aging and changing, and she gets it. Also, bonus for this, the styles I get with her require no hair product to stay in place!
Very reasonably priced. I’ve been a few times now and I’m very happy with Terry and would highly recommend her. She really pays attention to what you want.

Gwen has been tending my hair for five years, since my sister recommended her. I used to have trouble getting stylists to go as short as I want, but Gwen totally gets what I want and understands how to make short hair look great. The atmosphere is also great. The space is beautiful and there’s no pressure to make small talk. We can talk about books we’re reading, trips we’ve taken, or not talk at all. My sister has now moved away, but when she comes to visit she still books an appointment.

I took some advice by Dan P. and went with Mel at this salon and she was really great. The shop is so low key and casual. Really relaxed.

If you are looking for a new stylist or want to try someone new, you have to see Mel at Hands on Experience. I have followed Mel for over 7 years and I consider myself quite picky when it comes to picking a stylist. Mel is probably the best stylist I have had and it has been a pleasure for me to be her client.
Mel possess good style and her technique is solid. One thing that sets Mel apart from the rest is that she really knows how to style/​cut Asian hair. As funny as that sounds, Asian hair is generally thick but Mel is probably the best in town if you have hair like mine.
The salon itself is very relaxed and laid back. Good location, just a few minutes away from Skytrain.

I am also a big fan of Terry at Hands on Experience. This is the third salon I’ve followed Terry to, and I have good reasons.
She is a very skillful stylist who listens well to what you want and gives a great cut that is designed just for you –your face, your style, your personality. Also, Terry is a great person to spend an hour with when you need your hair styled.
The location off the street is very relaxing, and full of friendly practitioners. Reasonable prices.
