I have a problem with this tailor; both with the business demeanor(they really just want you for the business) and with the quality of work. I took in a brand new pair of $ 100 Guess jeans to get them hemmed, and they measured one leg before marking it with chalk. They weren’t particularly busy that day, but the man measuring it was in a rush. Got the jeans back, and of course they were hemmed 1 inch too short. They offered to fix them, but what are you going to do with jeans that have now been hemmed so short they are beyond repair? I didn’t bother going back. In terms of price, $ 9 to hem a pair of Jeans — go to the Bay, it’s $ 8.

James Tailor… hahaha. Get it? While the Thai couturiers and seamstresses at this established tailor aren’t known for their good humour, they sure can hew a mean hem and sew a saucy shirtwaist. One thing that I really value about Unilocal is the way in which it heightens your awareness to the services, businesses and individuals that surround you on a daily basis. I had a feeling that nobody would have reviewed James Custom Tailor, but I have been going to them for more than ten years to have garments altered and believe that they deserve some recognition… and more customers! I have never worked out the connections between all of the employees, but it is definitely family(and extended family) run. The service is always efficient and professional. Alterations range from $ 8 for hems to $ 15 for the restyling of slacks/shirts. Now, I just need to save-up a bit so I can custom-order that ruffle-sleeved puffy shirt I have been yearning for.
